I had a very unprofessional and unpleasant experience with aMANda RAINE. She pressured me repeatedly to come in for an appointment even though their office had the wrong dental treatment plan on file. Instead of listening or correcting the issue, she kept trying to force the appointment, which felt more about getting money than providing proper care. When I pushed back and asked questions, she became rude, angry, and actually hung up in my face. Completely unacceptable behavior. Patients should never be treated this way. Went in to get a simple extraction. They tried to sell me a " treatment plan". To extract one molar they wanted 2000. Half of that I was expected to pay. The doctor was hurried and sales-y. The hygienist rude and didn't seem to want to treat me. Waste of time. Fortunately no out of pocket yet my mouth is the same. It's apparent these guys are just money driven. I took my fiancé in for an extraction last week. We had made an appointment a few months ago with a different doctor who wasn't available to do this extraction. Because my fiancé was in pain, he agreed to see a different doctor. This doctor walked into the room with a bad attitude and made a remark about how much decay is in my fiancé's mouth, pulls up his lip with his finger to examine his teeth and says, "you don't have to be a dentist to see the amount of damage done". I could see that the dentists unsolicited, mean spirited comment rubbed him the wrong way. OBVIOUSLY we are both aware of the condition his teeth are in. If we weren't, we'd be at a candy shop instead of the dentists office. His teeth are only in the condition they are because he was homeless for years, and when he told the nurse this even she seemed to realize how humiliating it must have been for him to be treated that way by a "professional" (especially in a place where not everyone can afford insurance). Fortunately, the dentist was very quick and we didn't have to suffer his presence long, and after he pulled the tooth, he left without saying much else. Frankly, he was SO quick, that so long as he's willing to take his head out of his ass and put his foot in his mouth instead, we may actually consider coming back. read more

I was a loyal customer of Pundt Family Dental since the mid 90's. Several years ago there was a major change and the practice became Killeen Dental Group. I have tried to maintain patience with the dental group throughout all the changes with providers as well as staff and hygienist. The revolving staff that come and go there was unsettling for me. However, I choose to give the dental group one last chance at winning my service back. My appointment was booked months out and scheduled for Monday March 25th at 10:30 am. I really needed this appointment due to the fact I had two cracked molars and one tooth which I required a root canal on. I originally seen Dr Harris for care. But as a veteran he stated that if the VA could not work me in he would be more than happy to do the work with a VA referred of course. Granted I also have GEHA high option federal retirement benefit insurance as well.... I was prepared and ready for my appointment and treatment plan on Monday. Thursday the 21st and Friday the 22nd came and went without a reminder text or call from the Killeen Dental Group. I woke up early Monday morning and called the office about 8:45 am to verify my appointment time since I had not received any messages from the dental clinic staff. The receptionist informed me that I was not on the schedule.... then she placed me on hold and came back with the untruth that my appointment was at 8 am and I missed my appointment. (I am NOT a morning person so I would have never scheduled an 8 am appointment). Secondly since I was in pain I would not have missed my appointment period! Long story short I was very disappointed at how my situation was handled and was told I could get rescheduled for another appointment, or walk in as an emergency. I stated to the clerk did I not say I had an appointment but was rudely forgotten about and mismanaged with the rat race of over-turned staffing issues..... and how could I become an emergency walk-in when I had a valid appointment booked months ago? I asked to speak with the office manager or the owner Dr Harris since I was a long-standing loyal client of the practice. I was told neither was available to speak with as they do not have time to take away from patients to handle phone calls. (Seriously) It took a couple of days for Dr Harris to return my call. By then I had found another dental facility that felt I was important enough to be cared about and for! I am no longer a customer and my family members have also opted to take their business elsewhere. Dr Johnston stuck my brothers lip with the needle while numbing his mouth, Abby the hygienist didn't give my daughter proper chair-side manners, and I with insurance and loyalty was frankly pushed out the front door. I live out of town but took my mom, who is afraid of the dentist, to Pundt Family Dentistry and must say, they are awesome. She's been going there about 3 years and is doing great! She no longer worries about going to the dentist and has taken an interest in maintaining her dental health. The office staff is terrific. They call you back when they say they will and handle all the insurance filing for us. When you set an appointment for 8:40am, they call you in at 8:40. I like the way the office is run and they know what they are doing. Dr. Heather is the best. She is my mom's dentist and is always the one that sees her. I trust her to take care of her and she has never dissappointed me or my mom. While in the chair she can watch her favorite tv show, if she's in the right position. Dr. Heather is very professional and caring and she's easy on the eyes as well. :) Overall my experience with Pundt Family Dental has been a good one all the way around. I visited Killeen Dental Group yesterday for severe tooth pain. I was able to call on Wednesday and get a Friday appointment. They actually had an opening for the next day, Thursday, but I was unavailable. I woke up Friday with my tooth in the most pain it had been in and was nervous about someone poking and prodding at it. From the moment I got there they were the kindest and most understanding dental facility I have been too. They listened to me and took my pain seriously, which is huge. Before they even took a look around they offered to numb the area so I wouldn't have to experience any more discomfort. They weren't able to fix the tooth there since it was found that I have a deep crack and infection that will require a root canal, but the doctor referred me to the root canal specialist he sees personally since he trusts them so much. He also gave me his business card with his cell on it incase I needed to reach out to him over the weekend when the office is closed. While I still have to wait a couple days to be completely pain free they gave me medication to help me through the next few days. I've had several dental experiences where I felt ignored and dismissed and this was NOTHING like that. I'm so glad I chose to see them and look forward to going back in the future. While the work performed was decent, I have to say I'm disappointed with the business practices at this office. Pundt Family Dentistry does not make it a practice to call insurance agencies to check on benefit status before performing a procedure. I paid three times what I was quoted after the procedure, only to learn that the billing clerk didn't check with my insurance company to find that my benefits were maxed out for the year. In that same bill was a charge from 2008 for a procedure that "got lost". This charge was two years old before I learned of it. In addition to the bad business practices, I have a problem with the fact that when a patient goes in for conscious sedation, they require a responsible adult to stay the entire time the procedure is happening, and yet they give the patient instructions knowing they will not remember a word that is said. My first time here was good and bad. 3 stars are for the really nice staff and very thorough and informative cleaning and exam. This place would have gotten 5 stars from me if it weren't for the fact that I didn't get seen until 45 minutes after my appointment time. They didn't inform me they were running behind until almost 30 minutes after I had been waiting in the waiting area. I came 15 minutes early too, never making that mistake again. I will probably give this place one more chance and see what happens. read more

Stay away from this dentist office! I went in to have some dental work done and this is what happened to me. When I went in pundt sr took X-rays and did an assessment. he had his staff contact my insurances company and they validated all of my coverage. They then handed me a quote for the work that needed to be done and stated that would be what I would owe so I agreed and had the work done. I paid in full and a month later I receive another bill for approximately the same amount. I just thought it was an accounting mistake so my wife contacts the office and they tell us sorry but this is the amount you owe . Keep in mind my insurance didn't change nothing changed except their bill. I went in to speak with the office manager and find out that this is not the first time that this has happened so she tells me that when the doctor is feel she will talk to him about it and call me back. Well she does and although the staff was misleading and lied he will not adjust the charges. So I will pay the bill due to the fact that I won't have a negative impact on my credit report . I have contacted the ADA and will be contacting the BBB regarding their unethical business practices. I want everyone to know and stay clear of this place . If you do your own research you'll find I'm not the first person this has happened to from this office. Like I said in the beginning this is what happened to me . read more
