Requested stretching for my expensive Bandolino Sandals on August 1. Payment of $35 required at that time in advance. Delivery promised August 12 but did not return to pick up until August 20. Sandals were ready when I arrived. However, the sandal needing stretching was actually tightened instead of stretched, and therefore the problem was compounded. I could not wear the sandal. If that was not bad enough, the sandal was severely damaged with scuff marks and glue around the edge. Sometimes things go wrong. However, the complete denial of the damage done and refusal to refund the $35 was poor business practice. I was told that the sandal was in that condition when I initially left it at their business. When I returned to discuss the situation later, after debate the $35 was reluctantly returned to me. I now see the value in considering reviews by others and will never return to this 'place of business.' read more

I have two pairs of shoes I've been wanting to repair for awhile: Some suede Adidas shoes and some beautiful Hermes-like sandals by Steve Madden that just need the sole touched up. I kept on seeing this shoe store whenever I stopped by Trader Joe's and since I love supporting local, I stopped by yesterday to ask if they could repair these shoes. When I walked in, a short lady of Asian descent was on her phone on speaker, but stopped talking when I walked in. She got off the sofa by the window and welcomed me in. She seemed really nice, so I asked her if they could repair my suede Adidas. She shut me down with a smile and gave me a hard pass. I challenged her a bit more by saying it was just a layer of pollution on the shoe that built up overtime, so it's actually an easy job. Still refused. She told me THAT SUEDE IS IMPOSSIBLE TO CLEAN. That is 100% FALSE and I knew that walking into the store. Knowing I could just clean my Adidas at home, I brushed it off and moved onto the sandals. She said she would have to take a look at them before determining if she could fix them. Gluing the sole back together with the rest of the shoe is the easiest repair job on the planet. That should've been a yes. I asked are you sure about that and she gave me this CONDESCENDING smile and said yes. So I thanked her and left, but how are these people still open for business if they can't do the SIMPLEST of shoe repairs? I think they spend more on their 3D printer that makes little dragon toys then actually helping customer repair their shoes. I was really excited about supporting a small business, even if I could repair the shoes myself, but I am still so taken aback as to why this lady treated me this way. BEWARE....this is the very first time I've left a review for a business...but I cannot let this one go..brought my son's basketball shoes to be repaired..both shoes on the outer side...one had come apart (the stitching and rubber bottom about an inch long at best..the other shoe had a dime sized hole on the side...So I saw where this store had been there for some years..so I thought all would be good..the woman owner of the store looked at them and said ..yes we can fix that..of course they made me pay upfront $50...went to pick them up and the hole was still there ..other shoe had what appeared to be to have a small line of glue attaching stitching to bottom..told the woman it didn't look like anything was done ..she said "look here there's some glue..it looked like a toddler did it in kindergarten..she assured me they were good..the first time my son put the shoes and took a step it busted open...so back to the store...showed them what happened and told them I needed a refund ..well the man said he'd try to fix again..then told me he'll need more money for the extra work..I told him again..just give me a refund and in no way I was giving him more money..he reluctantly took the shoes to try again..told me at least a week before they'd be ready..so again..went to pick up the 2nd attempt..the woman was there..I looked at the shoes and told her they didn't look any better than the first time..she proceeded to tell me they used extra glue and they were good...the dime sized hole was still there..I put my finger threw the hole with complete ease..she didn't have a response for that...told her for 2nd time I need a refund..told her I needed a refund and was not going through this a 3rd time..the lady was refusing..so I told her I was going to contact the BBB and would leave my review on every possible site......the man comes out and calms the woman somewhat and because of my insistence they reluctantly searched there receipts ..they couldn't find it of course and the only thing they gave me was a yellow piece of paper with work order #..so then the plan was for me to come back AGAIN after she found the receipt ..of course she never called.went back today and again refused refund..I was very insistent but she wasn't backing down..the man said he would give me $25 back..at this point I was so sick of them I would accept the $25..then the lady yelled "I gave you free insoles even"..told her the insoles had nothing to do with the needed repair..I told her I would surely leave reviews...then she screams "give me back the insoles "..I said take them..they didn't do anything anyway to improve the shoe..well next this woman starts screaming at me and I told her if she keeps on (all the while had a pen in her hand shaking it while she was screaming..I told her she was bordering on assault if she touched me...next she snapped and started screaming like a lunatic for me to get out and never come back..I told her don't worry about that..as I was leaving I said "I'll be sure and leave you a review "..she's still screaming...this woman was unbelievable..and when I say she snapped..believe me..she was absolutely horrible at best..they do either no work or horrible work or mess your shoes up worse than when you brought them in..It baffles me that they are even open ..of course charging very unreasonable rates may help...DO NOT GO THERE..I wish I had read all the bad reviews before I went there.. not to mention the woman went nuts and was actually scary...BBB coming next..not to mention they've been sued before..TRUST ME..STAY AWAY..the 2nd job they did looked worse than the 1st.. read more

I would have given it a negative score if I had the choice. My girlfriend and I sent a brand new pair of shoes to them because she found it did not fit her feet well. The owner said he could fix it by adding sole to the bottom of the shoes. It seems he was pretty confident with his skills. Things got changed totally when we came back 4 days later. The owner said he had not done anything to our shoes yet, because he did not have confidence to fix them. We were disappointed since my girlfriend was going to use those shoes the next day. However, he claimed that he had made a phone call to me for confirmation of not doing anything to the shoes, which I actually never received. As there was not enough time to bring the shoes to another shop, we asked him if he could try to fix it for us since he originally told us it was just an easy task. Then he decide to do it. After another 30 minutes waiting, we found the shoes were ruined by him. The sole attached to the bottom was not properly cut, which could easily be noticed when they were on feet. Glue, scratch and stain were everywhere on the surface and inside the shoes. The owner refused to admit that it was done by him and said we were too picky. He said the shoes were like that when we dropped them off. But his dirty hands would not lie. The condition of the shoes became even worse after we brought them back home because the glue turns dry and white. We called the owner and went to the shop again to ask for refund. But the owner still insisted that he did not do anything wrong, and refused to refund. Worst experience ever!!! Based on the reply from the business owner, I'd like to add the following to my comment. The photos I provided clearly showed that it was definitely not a good work. The Judge said it was Ok because he was not a professional shoe repairer. His decision highly depended on his own experiences. Please try to bring a professional shoe repairer to the court if you are in the similar situation next time. I have used Kildaire Shoe Repair approximately 6 times over the past few years. Work done on shoes to re-sole and install new heels was acceptable and fairly priced; however, work done on a handbag and luggage was atrocious! The proprietor seems incapable of sewing in a straight line. I am not exaggerating when I say that a simple 10-inch stitch to secure the edge of a handbag strap looked like it was done by a grade-school student ... anything but straight, inconsistent spacing from the edge, and mismatched thread. It was a total joke, and actually ruined the strap which effectively ruined the bag ... a very nice Cole Hahn! When I took my black Travel Pro bag in to have a 4" circular travel patch sewn on to set the bag apart from the dozen other black Travel Pros on the luggage conveyor, I got it back with the patch installed crooked, stitching along the edge highly irregular, and the darn thing was not even flat ... it had significant bubbles because it was sewn without first being smoothed. The man took the shoes and said he could stretch them up to a full size. i told him 1/2 would do it. I picked them up 5 days later and the lady was there. It turns out he widened them,she said they could not be lengthened. It would have been nice to know that up front? Then she said it would be $10?? I did not argue with her- the shop had several customers in it and did not want to bully them. I wont return. Probably if I argued with her and refused to pay I would not be as disappointed. A strap on a shoe broke and I brought the pair in so that they could make the metal ring match on both. The stitches were sloppy and they used a spool of navy blue thread and a bobbin of pink thread on a pair of black shoes. They also didn't pick up and secure the end of the stitching they had to undo to make the repairs. When I said that the work was unacceptable, they told me that I brought them in like that. I took them to another shoe repair place in Cameron Village, H & H Shoe Repair (5 Stars!), who redid the stitching for me. read more

I have been to this shop a number of times through the years, only because it is the only one in the area. But never again. Every time I went had been to get heels put on. Not really the whole heel but the piece attached to the heel that wears down. The owner always uses inferior materials that wear down very fast. This last time I took a pair of boots that needed to be heeled again to NY with me and had them done while I was there. What a difference in material and workmanship! The heels have lasted through several seasons with them barely wearing down. I will never go back to this shop. I brought in a very large Coach bag just to have it spruced up with a like color and cleaned. This guy hands me my bag and there's a black burn/abrasion mark on the side that's 4 " long and as wide as my thumb! He didn't spray the color on the handles, but he DID manage to spray the stuff all over the buckles! I have never barked at a merchant in my life but I was so enraged that ugly just popped right out of my mouth when he says "it wasn't me" "ARE YOU F'NG SERIOUS! This obviously got caught in one of the GD grinding wheels over there! OMG, you idiot do you know what this bag costs?" Stop by this shop to see if they could glue a heal back on to my shoes. The owner and his wife are Taiwanese. He wanted to charge me $7 which I did not want to pay since my cobbler back home in PA would certainly repair them for free. I kindly told the owner that I would have them repaired by the original cobbler. Him and I then had a conversation about the business and came to find out that he has been a cobbler all his life and for a while, in Taiwan and later New York, made shoes. He went to the back room and brought back a crude cutting knife which he brought back from Taiwan and claimed you could not buy one in America. He then demonstrated on a raw piece of leather how it cut like butter. I say all this for those who want a real cobbler to repair their shoes and not just some guy who got into the business to make money. This man truly understands shoes. At the end of the conversation he said he would fix my shoes for free which he did. I have yet to wear them and will refrain from saying how good a job he did. I might post something later. When I am in need of a real cobbler on future visits to the area I have this man bookmarked and would recommend all Yelpers to try him out. read more

Mt Tumi bag needed a zipper replaced. He looked at it and said he could do it so I gave him the bag and even gave him the new zipper. Like another reviewer's review, the zipper was sewed-in (crooked) so badly that it would not operate properly. I asked if he could fix the problem. He said he would but called shortly thereafter and said "the technician" could not fix it when it only needed a straight-line stich to correct the problem. He removed the zipper he put in, returned my now unusable zipper, returned my leather bag which on the finished surface is now showing three (including two crooked) stich line holes and I still need a zipper. I got a real tongue-lashing as he blamed me, went-on about defective leather and other things I can't remember...but nothing about him not being able-to or simply him not willing to take the time to sew a straight line....a real his way or the highway guy. read more

My wife brought a suitcase in so they could fix an external zipper that was off the track. We left it there for 2 weeks. Went to pick it up today, and as soon as the lady handed it to me I could see the zipper was still clearly off the track (the flap was hanging open just like when we brought it in). She yelled at her husband to come out, and he first tried to say he fixed it and "it was like that", and I called BS because that makes no sense (but shows his standard reply, as other Yelpers have stated). He then said, oh, I guess I missed it. Dude, you had one freaking job! He said come back tomorrow, but I'm sure it will still be broken. I'll waste another 20 minutes driving there and 20 minutes driving back, and plan to take the suitcase home no matter what. I kind of feel like they just take people's money, do shoddy or no work (like this case), try to wiggle out of it in broken English, and expect people to just leave their money but take their products elsewhere for proper attention. This man ruined my shoes. The straps are not even, the sewing is horrible. I showed him the terrible work he had done, but I could not understand his explanation. I paid him and left the store. I was so angry, and my husband and I returned to the store within the hour and told him he had made such a crappy mess, that the shoes were now ruined, and I wanted my money back. REALLY WISH I had listened to the other poor reviews. I brought my favorite pair of riding boots to the shop looking for repair for the boot heels and one of the boot's zippers. We worked out a deal for the price, and I paid in advance. Came back a week later to pick up and found that he simply didn't repair the zipper...and was told that I was remembering our conversation wrong. And since they don't give out itemized receipts, I had no way of proving that I paid for...I didn't get any money back and he would not perform the zipper repair (that I had already paid for!!) free of charge. STAY AWAY - BEWARE. I dropped a pair of good quality leather boots off to be re-heeled, but when I returned 1 week later they weren't ready. The owner went off "looking for them" and came back 3 minutes later with my boots. He had done the job in that short time and made a complete mess of it. The boots originally had a wood-effect heel stack but now the heels were covered in a black sticky coating - when I complained I was told to wait until it dried! When I said that the boots had been altered he proceeded to use an acetate solution to wipe off the black coating revealing the original wood-effect which was now a horrid dull color, and additional drips of glue. Naturally I wasn't happy so he took the boots out the back again to "make them shiny" and get the glue off. When he brought them back some of the wood-effect had been rubbed off where the glue had been and the rest of the glue was still evident. When I pointed this out to him I was told that the boots were scuffed from wear. This is not true - the boots were only 4 weeks old!! At this point I wasn't going to let him touch my boots again, and he kept telling me that he hadn't damaged them, but I know he did. My boot heels are ruined. It seems that my experience and the "it was like that when your brought them in routine" is not new. Wish I had read the reviews before. I gave 1 star because I can't give 0 star and I want to post this as a warning. read more

Owner appears to speak very minimal English. This made communicating very difficult, resulting in having to make multiple trips so he could adjust the straps on my Danskos, and ultimately they ended up too tight because he didn't listen and / or understand to what I was asking for. I'm hoping the leather will stretch or I can have them loosened somewhere else and don't have to throw away a pair of $140 sandals. This place might be great for something simple but if what you were asking for is complex in anyway, I would not recommend. Disappointing, because the location is very convenient! read more

Very sloppy work! They ruined my Isabel Marant boots, by taking the liberty of dying the heels a different color, and shoddily gluing a protective rubber sole onto the existing one that should have been removed and replaced.
