The evening was so fun, so memorable, and educational. Heather Clark, our instructor, was a class act. She was swift, savvy, and an artistic creative genius. Painting porting and instructor was not an issue, but highly disappointed in the lack of the sip portion or service. The price of the class was way too much for just a painting class. Her studio is full of her own eclectic, sometimes whimsical, and always moving pieces, so you know immediately that she knows what she's doing--it also creates the most inspiring setting for a paint night. She was the ultimate hype woman, allowing no one to feel discouraged or dejected, and she effortlessly floated about the room helping everyone bring life and definition into their pieces. Her class was seriously art therapy for me, and I actually made something I'm proud of!!

I called multiple companies and once I got the details from Painting & Vino, it was no brainer to go with them. Their price is very fair, everyone I talked to was very friendly, and they even work with you if you would like personalized, custom artwork. My original assigned artist was Nicole, who was SUPER awesome to talk logistics with and just knew what questions to ask. She thought of everything. For the event itself, Nicole was unavailable but set up artist, JJ, to be our event instructor. She was awesome too! JJ and Hans were so thorough, very friendly, and very helpful when setting up. They were great with our group and engaging. We'll definitely be reaching out to Painting & Vino again come another painting event!

I got a deal on Groupon so it was a great value. Their regular price is a little much for me at $45 so prob wouldn't have done it without the Groupon. James was very entertaining and fun personality. I also really liked the painting that we did with all the different colors. As for the venue, it was at a bar so they had an interesting drink selection including options for CBD should you partake. The only thing I really did not like about this event was the layout. Since we were about 10 minutes late we didn't get to really choose our seats and the only ones left were towards the back near the door but we were facing away from the instructor. Also even when we turned around we were blocked by 3 other place settings right in the middle so we couldn't see what he was doing. Other paint events I've been to, the instructor is usually situated at the front of the class and we all face them so that we can see the painting and also the blank canvas they would work on so we know what to do. Even the folks at the bar had to turn around to see since they faced the bar but at least their views were unobstructed unlike us. Would definitely do this event again but I really did not like the layout at this venue.

Even on zoom, Kathy Leader provides a safe space to make art. She personifies the Traditional Chinese Medicine concept of Dao Yen, loosely translated into - to guide. We had a class on January 6. All of us came to group upset. Some people even kept the news on as we worked. Kathy led us through a breathing exercise and encouraged us to put aside everything but our art for the next hour and a half. I stopped hearing the news in the background and became completely engaged in art making. I felt like a weight was lifted as I worked. Having rarely worked in mixed media and hating my color and design courses in college, taking Kathy's class was a real stretch for me. I decided to try it because I believe Art heals and I needed a push to make art during this Covid depression. I have enjoyed learning concepts of composition and how to use mixed media and am constantly surprised at how I progress each week. Kathy is a terrific teacher/ guide. Andrea Gollub
