guys, i always try to keep an open mind about my reviews of places, but this pho place that i ate at today, which had either 4 or 5 stars on yelp....really is overrated! i left without even finishing my food and a bad taste in my mouth, that i had to wash it away with mcds ice coffee or else i wouldve felt really bad on my drve. i am giving it 2 stars and will justify it to the fullest! so looks like its the only pho place in sechelt bc. went it and place was more than half full at 130pm which usually is a good sign for a hole in the wall place. looks like the restaurant was born from an old house but whatever...i was there to eat! upon surveying the place, immediately noticed some empty tables with dirty dishes bowls cups and chopsticks strewn about. very nice lady with a smile greeted us and told us to wait a bit while she cleared tables, acted as the cashier, and even served the other tables. good for her for being a wonder woman though...! i give her full props. only problem was , she cleaned all the tables with the exact same cloth just going from table to table...ewww! entering the place , it had a pungent smell of something bad, like a wet dog or something and i was trying to figure out what.. anyways, we ordered lunch special...rice with choice of 2 toppings...we picked lemon grass chicken and viet pork rolls. next we ordered a pho of course...beef rib eye and meatballs....and tea for 2. soup came and then it hit me! the smell was the pho soup boiling in the back. with 1 look and smell, immediately i knew it was bad. ive eaten in a million pho places in vancouver and in vietnam, and it was clear to me that the broth in this place was not clean and clear. meaning not strained and the beef marrow not washed and double boiled, as well as the mushy stuff not skimmed off. it looked dark and murky and did not taste like pho at all! just some off beef soup. was so disappointed. only savings grace was meatballs and beef were tender. i was really hungry and did not wanna waste food so i still ate it until i had enough. the rice combo looked good when it came. but tasted the chicken and it was fried with a breading and pounded to thin that it resembled a pork chop. lol. no smell or hint of lemon grass at all. the viet pork roll looked like a veggie roll. only had a sprinkle of ground pork plus was so oily it stained the veggies ... why 2 stars? at least there is 1 pho place the server / cashier/ was trying her best! or else wouldve given 2. i would rather go to a&w! last but.not least, the chili sauce on table had no cover. just exposed to air for God knows how long. it wasnt just ours...each table was same! yuck! tasted it and spit it out. not fresh and had a funny taste. so unhappy that ive just eaten at the worst viet place in my life. :( read more

I already had my expectations low because you shouldn't expect to find anything ethnic and authentic outside of a big metropolitan area like Vancouver. Then I got my food and where is the chicken in my chicken pho? I fished out three pieces each the size of the pinky of my one year old. The rest is just water and noodle. What exactly am I eating for 8 CAD before taxes? Then the beef pho. The meatball tasted like something pre-made. Fine, outside of a metropolitan area ethnic folks just get lazier and simply buy stuff anyone else can buy from an ethnic grocery shop. But that would have just been three stars. What drove down to one is when I saw the waiter using an aerosol can on the table next to my children to clean the table. I could smell the chemicals so one can only imagine what got into my kids' lungs and food. Why aerosol? Why not spray bottle into a cloth and clean the table? The waiter hadn't smiled the whole time. Boss paying too little for him to care about aerosol fumes into young lungs and the atmosphere? Hating the perpetual rain and clouds of British Columbia? I left the poor guy a tip anyway. It's too bad; a real Vietnamese joint that serves anything but Vietnamese food or hospitality. read more

I haven't been to this place in over 10 years but it's pretty much as I remember. The restaurant is in the front main floor of a house so not your typical set up but the menu has everything you'd want except for Bon Mi sandwiches Having a basic Pho tai for dinner tonight but will work my way through as my favs soon. Broth needed a bit of fine tuning to get the flavour the way I wanted but when its the only place in town for my Pho fix I'll make it work. The staff is very nice and friendly. read more

We had seen this place for a couple of years but never ventured in as it doesn't look like much from outside. Would never have tried it if a friend had not told me about it and then another of her friends confirmed that the Pho was fresh and great, their favourite. So we tried take out with their reopening from covid and had a chicken and a beef pho. They did not disappoint! Super fresh and delicious. Definitely will be ordering again. We were traveling thru the Sunshine Coast and honestly...... the worse 2 bowls of pho we have have ever had. The broth was cold, the meat was over cooked and tough, and the veggies for the soup consisted of pre cooked bean sprouts only. We ordered one eggroll each which turned out to be a fried veggie roll which is ok, but they were tasteless filled with cabbage and REALLY greasy! The thing of it is, they are the only Vietnamese place in town, but that's still no excuse for bad home cooking! read more

So came here for lunch on a whim. Was not too sure about having Vietnamese in Sechelt. I must say that the food exceeded all my expectations. The salad roll was fresh and delicious, Springroll light and flavorful, and the Pho soup was out of this world (I ordered #1). Lots of bean sprout, basil, and cilantro. The waitress was so lovely and friendly, we loved her. But sadly this place needs a serious deep cleaning- just not up to sanitary standards for a restaurant IMO, it just felt dirty and grungy. Pho is legit. Service is relaxed and friendly. Good prices. pretty clean but not spotless. The shrimp salad roll... the rice paper, vermicelli and shrimp were perfect but it was overloaded with iceberg lettuce which wasn't very tasty or exciting.
