The forms were easy to complete and send online. When I arrived at the office there was a giant sign that welcoming the new patients to the office. It was such a nice touch and made our day! When I checked in at the front desk they confirmed they received the forms and everything was all set. While waiting in the waiting room my daughter played with the books and other items they had in the waiting room. Once called back they brought us to a very kid friendly room with lots of beautiful paintings of animals. There was another personalized sign welcoming my daughter to her first visit. There were 2 dental professionals that went over proper cleaning and tips and tricks which was very helpful as a first time mom. After the cleaning Dr. Steph came in to examine her mouth and administer fluoride treatment. She also explained proper cleaning and things to look out for as more teeth come in. I truly can't say enough good things about this staff. From the front desk, to hygienists/assistants, to the doctor- the experience was truly incredible.

He was only four years old, when he starts going there, and each visit, he would complain about being restrained. They've been using these methods for dental procedures, but during our last visit, I specifically told them not to restrain him anymore. The very next day, after what was supposed to be a simple cleaning, his mouth became extremely swollen. He ended up suffering from gingivitis for a week and a half, during which he couldn't eat or drink properly. It was a terrible experience, and I believe they might have used poor-quality tools or improper methods, causing unnecessary harm. This has been one of the worst dental experiences, and I wouldn't recommend this clinic to anyone.

My 4-year-old son had his first dentist visit here on 9/1/22. We prepared my son by explaining the…read moreprocess ahead of time and reading books about the dentist so he went in eager and prepared. Unfortunately, all the prep in the world could not prepare him for how horrible this dentist was. My son was a little scared when the dentist came in (because he did not like the toothpaste the hygienist used) and the dentist had ZERO patience for my child. Instead of giving my child a few minutes to calm down and compose himself, he YELLED at him, pointed his fingers in my child's face, and grabbed my child's wrists (trying to pry his hands off his face). His exact words were "YOU ARE 5 YEARS OLD, THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR" And this was yelled at him about 5 inches from his face while the dentist pointed his finger at his face. My child had fear in his eyes when the dentist yelled at him. My son is actually only 4 years old and this was his first appointment at the dentist. It was totally acceptable and developmentally appropriate for him to be apprehensive about a strange man touching his teeth. What was UNACCEPTABLE BEHAVIOR was a dentist YELLING at a 4-year-old for having feelings. I also find it a little ridiculous that the dentist expected my 4-year-old to regulate his emotions, when he was a grown adult who couldn't regulate his own. This office also encourages children to be independent and go back to their appointments alone. I can't imagine what would have happened if my husband and I were not in the room. The appropriate response to a small child who is having some difficulties would be to give him some space to calm down. Instead he was overstimulated, yelled at, and bribed with a "prize" if he did exactly as the dentist said. Apparently, he wasn't deserving of that "prize" because he never received it. Instead he received a fear of dentists that we will have to unlearn while finding a new dentist that has some compassion for their patients. As someone who works in the field of childhood trauma, I recommend this dentist take some time to learn about child development and appropriate behaviors. If he only wants patients who are going to be easy, maybe he should work with adults instead. Although he is proof that some adults also can't seem to handle their own emotions. I will NEVER take my child to this dentist again and I urge you not to either.

Clean, has a fun game area for kiddos, friendly front desk staff, I could go on and on! Both hygienists we saw were so welcoming and patient with my more uncooperative child. I genuinely wish that I could come here for my own dental work. Dr. Marc was super nice too. I can not express enough how this practice exceeded expectations and how thankful I am to have found them!

It was a long journey because of the Covid situation, but we weathered through it and after my braces were removed, and I would like to add, Doctors Christie and Drane were so wonderful and patient with me. I felt so comfortable and it was actually fun seeing Dr. Christie Dr Drane and Kristen every few weeks. Then I meet Dr. Mark Forward and the transition started and now here I am with a new smile. Sometimes my braces needed adjustment when I saw him and he would adjust them and joke about helping his father during the summers with orthodontics. His staff and assistants made me feel so welcome, I felt so safe and I felt I belonged to the "family". After Dr. Forward finished my new smile, I immediately went to Dr Christie to show her. What a wonderful group of professional dentists and orthodontists. I couldn't ask for anything more. I hope a lot people see my review and will contact Swarthmore Smiles and Christie Drane and Forward Orthodontics if you need braces. They are kind, patient, professional and top of the line. Thank you Dr. Mark Forward, I am smiling now more than ever!
