She's been cutting our son Braven's hair for the past two years and recently started with our younger son, Otto, right around his first birthday--and she has been nothing short of amazing. Rashall is incredible with kids. Not once have either of our boys cried in her chair. She keeps them entertained, works efficiently, and somehow delivers a consistently great cut while doing it. What we really appreciate is how communicative she is--she talks us through what she's doing, explains what she thinks will work best, and makes us feel totally comfortable every step of the way. This was our second visit. Our first visit was fabulous and the stylist was great with my daughter. However, our recent visit was less than awesome, Brenda seemed frustrated and seemed to have not worked with children previously to be honest. My daughter is an active 4 year old who likes to squirm and move. Prior haircuts, I could easily get her redirected with an iPad. It started with my daughter being uncomfortable with the hair wash, as the angle her neck was hitting the sink was uncomfortable and no towel was Put behind her neck , so it was Just skin on porcelain. Alright, no big deal on to the cut. I was very much involved holding her head still for the stylist. I could barely hear Brenda giving my daughter direction, so I'm not even sure My daughter could hear either. The haircut was longer in length than both my daughter and I wanted but I was just ready to be done at that point rather than asking for an additional inch to be taken off. Finally the blow dry, my daughter started crying as a result of the blow dry with the round brush. She doesn't normally cry with hair brushing or drying, so I'm not sure what she was feeling. Ms. Brenda and the front desk receptionist (I'm so sorry I didn't get your name) we're so sweet and patient with my daughter. It was her first haircut. She had a meltdown and was overly sensitive to being touched. I was going to just cancel the appointment but they suggested my daughter play with some toys and acclimate to the environment until she was ready. Took other clients for about 15min to allow her to adjust and then did an excellent job with the cut, despite her moving and having to move quickly to avoid another meltdown. The appointment was for a "shampoo and kids haircut". I decided to go with her only availability for today because of the mentions in some reviews here..and let me tell you. SHE DID NOT DISAPPOINT. My son is 4 (soon to be 5) and hasn't let anyone touch him with clippers in 3 years. Today, her warmness and gentle demeanor allowed my son to feel comfortable enough to have clippers used and he didn't even complain- not once. My wiggly kiddo who has been quarantined at home for 3 months during COVID was in desperate need of a haircut. I chose this location for a few reasons- 1. I wanted a place tailored for children. 2. Being in oakbrook mall, it is open air up to the store, which made me feel better about venturing out in public. 3. My friend used to work for KidSnips and I know they do a great job! I booked my appt online which was simple. The website encourages you to park in the blue garage, which has an elevator super close to their door. I was the first appt of the day. They had aomeone waiting outside who checked me and my son's temperature 3x each and asked a few screening questions. Debbie was the one who did my sons haircut. She was patient and skilled, moving quickly to cut the hair of a child who went right into stranger danger mode, having not had to interact with people in so long. He cried and wiggled pretty much nonstop but she handled it with ease. Be sure if it is your child's first haircut to book it as such- you get a certificate and lock of hair w a photo to take home! Scheduled online for my sons first professional haircut. They were 15 minutes late to taking us in, with a 3yr old this seemed like a half hour. I was disappointed there were no TVs, but instead they had a tablet propped against the mirror, already set to Blippi, great. There have lots of toys available for purchase with prices going up to $50. The stylists were openly talking about what they had bought from the dollar store to put on the shelves.That being said, items are disproportionately marked up. I requested trim, to even out the backyard haircut I had done last. She went straight to the clipper length she thought was appropriate, and buzzed the sides and back shorter and higher up than I would have preferred. I had to interject to keep the top as long as possible. The stylist was not exceptionally gentle or patient. She had me physically hold his head to the side and down so she could cut around the ears/neck. For a 10 minute haircut, $25 is a bit much. The price seems to be a few dollars more than Snippets in Yorktown mall which has a better AV set up including salon chairs with video game activities. At checkout we were given a $5 off next visit coupon. It would have been nice if it were $5 off for first time customers who have registered on the website... read more

Got home from getting about 3" cut off my daughters hair by Cathy. Washed my daughters hair when we got home and as I brushed it out it was shockingly uneven. There is a 2" difference in length from the left to the right side. Wouldn't go there again. The manager did reach out to me a few few days after the experience. They offered to have their seasoned stylists fix my daughters hair. Although nervous about bringing my daughter back, Debbie took her time and fixed the mess that Cathy had left us with. Took our 14 month old son there last night for his first haircut. Honestly I was super nervous about it but as soon as we walked in I knew he was in good hands. We made an appointment and were seated immediately. He loved being seated in the fire truck and Ms. Cathy was super sweet, patient and efficient with him. Perhaps I just hate hair cuts, even when my children get them. However, I wasn't a fan of my son's most recent hair cut. The staff is friendly enough, accommodating and helpful. Yet, my son's haircut was not similar to the picture I had chosen. I wanted to keep his 4 year old mane the same, but cleaned up and slightly shorter. She went too short. :( The establishment is very cute, where a child has the ability to "ride" in a car as they receive the cut. Add an iPad to the mix and the kid is happy. Yet, I don't like the prices($22 for a young boy!) nor do I like the results of my son's cut. I have never had such a horrible experience... we have been coming to kid snips in oakbrook for a few years. The last few months we haven't had the best experiences. There's a new manager that's been there on Sundays and just about every single time we have waited until our hair stylist has freed up. We always get there on time, even early most times. They always take others before us if a customer is late and make us wait, 15-20 minutes sometimes, but since we drive all the way to Oakbrook we have been willing to wait. Well, I guess they make exceptions as to WHO they are willing to see once they are late. The ONE time we are 10 minutes late, they REFUSED to let us wait and said we had to come back another day. It goes like this: *Make an appt, arrive 5 mins early, pick out your DVD, jump in the fun kiddie chair, watch your movie while getting styled, jump out of the chair looking fresh and clean, pick out a toy, pay, and leave. My son has been getting is hair cut here off and on for about three years. We love Miss Keisha! She is speedy and the quality is top-notch. They do a great job here - especially with 1st hair cuts. They are good with the kids, take pictures, give you the hair in little baggies, and a certificate for the scrapbook! Well worth the money - it's an event! If I were to take issue with this establishment, I would be rooted in the price point and the availability of "qualified" barbers. It's a bit pricey for me and Miss Keisha is the only person that I would allow to cut my son's hair due to her depth of knowledge in Black haircare. Apparently, other parents share my love for Miss Keisha - ethnic and non-ethnic, alike - her book fills up quickly! This place is BUSY! So, I would suggest making an appt. Also, there are coupons floating all around that will allow your little one to pick out $3 in free toys after the service - never go here without it!
