After going to this dentist for about 13 -14 years I finally have hit something that I cannot stay quiet about . We fell in love with dr Velez. He was amazing . So when the practice was sold it broke our hearts but we kept coming because the staff was great: however this past year things have shifted . The staff isn't warm and kind ... it's weird. My oldest has always had issues with his teeth . He has a heart condition that causes teeth issues and he has adhd . They started asking me to do 3 month cleanings which I paid for some out of pocket ... but when he was 17 I said no more . He needed to be responsible and clean them well . The office refused to see him if I didn't schedule and pay out of pocket for a 3 month cleaning they wouldn't see him for the 6 month . What? Then my daughters needed some fillings and sealants done . They called to confirm and I said my youngest would be there but I wasn't sure about my other daughter since she had to be admitted to a psychiatric hospital. To which they said well if she isn't there it will be a charge for not cancelling 72 hours in advance . Maybe you want to cancel . I did cancel but am floored that it's 2022 and we are pretending that mental health isn't important ? So if my daughter was admitted the day before her dentist appointment y'all would charge me a fee for not cancelling 72 hours in advance ?!?! I was appalled so I called back to talk to a manager . Which was pointless . She said yes that's our policy and she's just trying to relay the policy to you , I stated that mental health is unavoidable and that if my daughter is under psychiatric care it isn't my decision nor do I know when she will be released. But that suicide is serious and I can't believe that she would have her staff be so calloused and unkind about mental health issues . She basically told me I was being sensitive because of my situation and it's just an office policy , then said are you there. I said yes I am just really and she hung up the phone. This is disgusting . It is appalling . You are a pediatric dentist who cares more about keeping all appointments full. I understand policy but there is also humanity . Seriously DO BETTER read more

Had a great first visit with my almost one year old daughter! The staff was friendly and quick to get me back into a room, the dentist was kind and quick to examine and brush my daughters teeth. She was also very educational and even sung to my daughter to make her feel more comfortable I highly recommend this office for kids and babies first checkups 100% read more

You know it's said, the doctor may be awesome, but the front office staff can make it or break it? That's the truth about this office. The front office manager is rude, shows no empathy, and when you question anything about previous conversations you've had with other employees that were were significant conversations, suddenly the person no longer works there to confirm. After bringing my kids here for 3 years I'm looking for a new dentist. I left work early to drive 20 miles to pick my kids up and take them to their appointment. After getting delayed 10 minutes looking for a dang shoe, we hit the road and I get a call when I'm 5 minutes from the office that they have to reschedule my appointment. After 3 years and hundreds of dollars, I would hope for some occasional flexibility, especially when every appointment we wait 10 minutes in the waiting room anyway and then an additional 10-15 waiting for the hygienist. By the way, the are so full on spots a reschedule would be 3 months away. In the past when something is discovered on the. Checkup, we have to wait 3 Months to come in and fix it. I wrote a rave review for them 3 years, I'll be switching dentists now. read more

Service is fast and friendly. I am new to the area and needed a good kids dentist. The staff were very friendly and Dr. Lisa Ding is amazing. They work great with Tricare and she made sure to take care of my kids even going so far as to fix a sealant without charging me extra. They always call and remind us of upcoming appointments and work very hard to fit us when my daughter had some issues with her tooth. read more

Do not take your child to this dentist office, unless you see Dr. Velez! Would have appreciated a call back after the message I left regarding my daughter's traumatizing visit. Any dental office that does not let a parent come check on their kid is bad news. Not even a call back to see how she was doing after major dental work! You don't tell a child to be quiet, quit crying, THEN STOP THE PARENT FROM CHECKING ON THE CHILD!!! She asked for me numerous times, and your staff lied to me and said everything was fine. She was not fine!! We won't be back and will tell everyone about this experience so this does not happen to another child. You should be advocates for the children! Dr. Velez used to wear polka dot bow ties with a striped shirt and plaid suit and he clearly loved kids. Haven't seen him do that in the past several visits and I miss it. They now have a policy of no drinks allowed in the back. The admin lady took my coffee away since I was going back with my 5 year old. I get not allowing kids to have a drink, but adults? Hmmm. They have video games in the lobby. I don't allow my son to play video game systems so it is a novelty for him. If you are militant about no video games and they love video games it could be an issue. I always come at 7:30 so we don't have to wait. Those appointments go fast. Make them 6 months in advance! I just came in and they have a new policy I had to sign. If you don't confirm appointment they will give your slot away and/or charge you a $15 fee. They sent me a text to confirm and I did. No problem. Love the text confirmation. Cathy is a sweet and very good dental hygienist. She's been here for quite awhile. My son likes the stone oak dentist better and asked if we could switch. I like them better too; I prefer my dentistry with coffee, especially at 7:30am, haha :) read more

We really like the early Morning appointments, the location and the dentist and hygienists. They smile and seem like they have the right attitude for working with young patients. One occasion we waited over 30 minutes for an apt after arriving early and when I spoke to the staff they seemed to have forgot. Additionally, how does a children's facility not have simple toilet accommodations for toddlers? When I asked the receptionist for a comment card she said they don't have them. I then asked for a manager and she said the person was not in yet. Not impressed with customer service aspects. read more

First visit today for a routine cleaning for my 10 and 7 year old girls. Staff was very friendly, clean building, fast service. All of the techs and dentists were very friendly and accommodating to my girls and I. My 7 year old had a cavity that was concerning so they worked her in same day to get it fixed! I have been going to this place for yrs with my boys I drive from New Braunfels to Kids Dental because I LOVED this place until now!!! Horrible experience today... I called to make an emergency dental appt the staff informed me my acct was flagged due to a NO SHOW I had to pay $75 dollars to book the appt for a no show I called to reschedule! I wasn't even allowed to pay when I showed up to the appt I had to pay over the phone. The staff member was rude I didn't feel like arguing so I paid the fee so I could book the appt! The dentist we normally see Dr Velez wasn't there someone new that had no business working with children. He was rude to every kid he worked on!!! The kid sitting next to us said ouch that hurt "he told the kid that he worked on 3yr olds that were better then him and that didn't hurt" he was so unprofessional!!! Poor kids!!! Never going back... Another kid came in with an emergency while we were their when the tech came back to tell him he walked off and said " I don't have time for this" MAKE TIME!!!! This place has went to HELL!!! I didn't notice any of the old staff maybe this place has been bought out... DONT TAKE YOUR KIDS HERE!!! Dr. Velez is amazing he's great with kids you couldn't ask for a better dentist!!! *I called and spoke with a manager after I left and confirmed they had not been bought out! She explained that Dr Velez was stretched thin and the office policy were Ms. Velez policies because they are Co- Owners!!! She explained that my acct was marked as bad debt and all my stored info including insurance info was wiped out because of the unpaid $75 no show fee!!! I could understand if I didn't pay for services I was provided!!! Not the case I have spent a lot of money at this place my acct is paid in full!!! I called and cancelled my appts... What happened to customer service? Ms. Velez if your read this review you need to rethink some of your policy's!!! How can you charge a no call no show fee if your appt isn't confirmed with 48 hrs your appt is canceled anyways! Another policy that's horrible!!! If you don't know how hectic it is being a parent already I should have to call and confirm my appt if I'm not a new patient!!! I have showed up and all 3 boys have been cancelled due to not confirming an appt 48 hrs prior!!! After taking 3 boys out of school and driving 30 minutes to get them to the dentist!!! Recently just visited Kids Dental office with my young daughter. The office worked us into their schedule because I had some concerns. They worked with my insurance - especially two insurances which not many offices do that. We saw the doctor. She was so gentle and caring and made my daughter who is only 4 feel at ease. My daughter enjoyed every minute of the appointment so did I! We will highly recommend this office. read more

If you are looking for a dentist that is punctual, this is NOT the place for you. I waited for 45 minutes with my 4 year old and left without seeing anybody. It took 20 minutes for them to check us in. Before we left, I asked if my child would be finished with his appointment within one hour past his appointment time (I had a business appointment that I had to keep), and they confirmed that it would be long past that. This is the type of office where they have WAY too many patients show up for the same appointment time. On a positive note, the facility is very attractive and kid friendly. After bringing my kids here for almost 10 years I've had enough of their horrible policies. Like another person mentioned, one time I was running late, I called them to let them know and they said we had to reschedule. We weren't even going to be late for one of my children's appointments. Then they tried to charge me $40 for missing the appointments. Today I picked up my messages and found out that they had left a message that if I didn't call back by a certain time to confirm the kid's appointments, that they would be cancelled. They gave me about 48 hours notice for an appointment that was made 6 months prior. I didn't even pick up the message before the appointments were already cancelled. They can never get you appointments any sooner than 3 months and they barely remind you of the appointments. Not to mention every time I go my kids are with a different dentist. They haven't seen the dentist they started out with in a good couple of years. I'm so sad that they have become such a horrible dental office! read more

Wow, what a class act! I have been bringing my two girls to Dr. Velez for years. They always get seen on time and take my military insurance. Always professional, but great ability to connect with the kids and make everyone laugh. The technicians and office staff are also top notch and go the extra mile to keep the kiddos engaged. We've gone to Kids Dental for years and LOVE Dr Velez! Yesterday our kids went for their checkups and we got the new dentist. I was very disappointed how this dentist handled our situation. When our 5 year old went to Dr Velez the first time he was very nervous. But Dr Velez joked w him and won his trust to get him to allow him to do the dental exam. My son us never had a problem since. Yesterday the new dentist was upset my 5 year old didn't want to sit in the chair for the exam. This dentist didn't try to engage my son or make him comfortable at all. He told me to just put him in the chair and lay him back, he'd be fine. I tried explaining that my now 16 yr old had a traumatic experience w a dentist at age 4 and it took a long time for Dr Velez to earn his trust and let him work in his mouth and the new dentist cut me off saying "We aren't traumatizing or strapping kids down here, just a dental exam". He didn't even listen to my rationale, just cut me off. I told this dentist I Wouldn't be making my child get a dental exam and force him to do it and be scared or cause a fuss. I told him that when he was comfortable w the dentist that we'd do the exam. The whole atmosphere was different in the office. I noticed some of the old hygienists weren't there either. The positive about this visit was that the hygienists were very sweet to the kids. In officials one cute blond/brown lady that engaged me in conversation. I am sad Dr Velez is leaving this office soon. But we are huge fans so even though we live in SA we will be making the trip all the way to Seguin in 6 months for our next appts. I've already made them! I do hope that this office listens to the people and their experiences here about this new dentist. It's sad to see something so great that Dr V built go downhill. read more

Brought my 6-year old in today for an exam, as we were concerned about a tooth coming in over another... His previous dental office couldn't get x-rays, even though I told them his previous dentist (we're military & moved last year & then insurance/network providers changed forcing us to move on yet again to another provider) advised us it's important to get X-rays and keep an eye on how his teeth are coming in... I think the technology may be newer here or something, because the technician had no problem. In fact, she specifically asked if we had problems getting X-rays before & used a special technique to ensure success! At this point, I'm already liking this place better than any previous office (ease of check-in, friendliness & competence of staff, wall toys & books to occupy little ones, etc)! The cleaning was as good as it could have gone -- my lil guy doesn't like this part & asks tons of questions... the hygienist had to keep telling him to open his mouth, but she didn't get frustrated with him. Enter Dr. Lisa Ding... she is phenomenal! She was smiling (obviously she enjoys her job), politely introduced herself, was very professional & thorough... She explained in detail everything that was going on in his mouth & what needed to happen in the near future... She told me not to hesitate to call her if I have any questions or concerns in the meantime. The process went very smoothly from beginning to end! I'm impressed & very happy we chose this place for our boys' dental care! read more

I've been bringing my daughter here for 8 years. While I thought Dr V was good he always made me feel like a bad parent when my daughter had a cavity. The new dentist, Dr Ying is amazing. I never feel like a bad mom, she's kind and caring. She did some work on my daughter and then came in on her day off to finish the work all while she is 9 months pregnant. She told me that she didn't want to go on maternity leave without making sure my daughters work was all completed. You can't get any better service than that. The only reason why I didn't gave a full 5 stars is because there was one assistant that just wasn't as kind as you would expect her to be. When dealing with kids, you have to have patience and be very nice. This one assistant was not sweet but more of a dud with no personality. Other than this one person everything was great. They even called after the appointment to check up on us. read more

The staff is nice and professional but watch out for their pricing!! They gave us a written treatment plan recommending kid's sealant at a cost of $20 based on our insurance. Then after the work was done, "We're sorry. We forgot about the deductible. That'll be $60." Tripling the price on a written quote after the work is done is NOT professional. read more

This place doesn't even deserve one star! I took my daughter here for the second time and was very disappointed. Dr Velez was there the first time my daughter had to have a couple of stubborn baby teeth pulled. He was great with her. He explained everything he was about to do and made her relax feel much more relaxed. We went again last week for her checkup and cleaning. The whole practice had a different feel to it. Kids were all nervous and everyone around sensed the unease. By cramming all the dental chairs so close together and in the open, everyone is able to see and hear exactly what everyone else is doing. We heard the doctor and hygienists getting personal medical and dental histories with absolutely no regard to privacy. I heard one dentist asking about a child's medical history and talking about where they go to school, their teachers names and even where their parents work! I know I would not want to share any of my child's personal information with random people at any dentist or doctor's office. I have never heard of a more blatant violation of HIPPA laws. On top of all this, the hygienist spent a whole 8 minutes with my daughter telling her, and scaring the hell out of her I might add, that she had gingivitis and if she didn't start flossing better immediately that she might loose some of her teeth! She is very good at brushing twice a day with a Sonicare tooth brush and flossing at least every other day. Then she told her that she needed a "deep cleaning" and would have to come back for another much more expensive and painful cleaning in a few weeks. She didn't try to reassure her or offer any advice. Then she was off the the next chair, like it is an assembly line. Henry Ford did not have children's dentistry in mind when he created the concept of an assembly line! So, finally, after waiting another 40 minutes, the doctor finally graced us with her presence. She spent exactly 4 minuted examining her just to say that she looked great and to keep up the good work. I asked her about what the hygienist said and she said, "just keep up the good work. I have a lot of patients to see." I don't know who was worse, the hygienist trying to scare her. Or the doctor saying the exact opposite of what the hygienist said. The receptionist up front asked us when we would like to schedule our next visit. I wasn't sure if we should come back in three weeks like the hygienist said or 6 months like the dentist said. They didn't even know which. I have seen cattle round ups and meat processing plants with more professionalism and compassion! I will never darken these doors again and, if you want to protect your children you will avoid this place like the plague. read more
