I have been going to both the Claremont and Rancho locations for years. I have noticed the quality slowly declining the past few years yet the prices increase. Yes the portions are large, but if it doesn't taste great, who cares. My biggest grip is the owner of the Rancho location nickles and dimes you. We were just there this past Sunday and while my husband eats meat, my children and I do not. Every kids meal except cereal contains meat and when I asked the waitress if I can substitute the bacon and sausage with an egg, she said probably not but she'd check with the owner (who was there that day). The kids meals came out with no meat and an extra egg but at the end of the meal when we received our check, we were still charged the full price of the kids meal plus $4 for the extra 2 eggs. So not only did the owner save by not provided us with bacon and sausage, he made some extra money on the additional eggs. This is the second time I've been here. My favorite out of all is their pancake, usually I get strawberry pancake with whip cream. My second favorite would be their chicken piccato skillet, personally I dislike eating mushrooms, and I don't eat spicy, so this one would be my best choice. Chicken Picaato Skillet is diced chicken piccato with Manchetta cheese, fresh cilantro, diced tomato, bell pepper and onion, topped with avocado & chipotle salsa. This is actually my favorite restaurant and I am going to continue to come here due to the fast and friendly service, however this right now I am leaving after picking up my to go order and the service was less than satisfactory. I call in my order as usual and it's stated that it will take 15 minutes and it ends up taking 40 + minutes. The waitress knowing I've been waiting a while and I discuss me getting a free muffin for my wait. The manager on duty(whom I have not seen before) walk up and says nothing to me after hearing my story nor does she look at me, then walks away to the back. I'm giving two stars because of the excellent service from Laura. The chilaquiles are tortilla chips with pace salsa on top we had to return them. I ordered the stuffed pancakes a la carte and it was a pancake folded in half with Philadelphia cream cheese and jam in the fold and topped with powdered sugar. I'm not sure if I just ordered the wrong things but I got the chili and a BLT sandwich which I added cheese and avocado and had it toasted... Sandwich was bland and had no flavor, tasted like I was eating cardboard. The chili royally made me angry. It's literally Hormel chili from a can... Came here Saturday morning for breakfast. Got seated instantly. Off to a great start! Lol. I ordered the shrimp and Louisiana sausage omelette. Let me tell you that was a great dish I had at a restaurant in a very long time. Also ordered a side French toast was being greedy that morning lol. Over rated..I had ordered the ham and eggs plate with toast and hashbrowns. The ham wasn't juicy and the eggs were overcooked. My hashbrowns actually had a hair! Not mine because its as short as a mans beard longer then an eyelash. The pancakes were overly drenched with strawberry topping and they forgot the rest of our order (eggs sausage bacon). First time at KBJ. We came for breakfast and are already planning our next visit, possibly to try lunch. Both of us commented that there were many flavors going on in our dishes and we wouldn't have thought to out them together. I ordered the Santa Fe skillet of eggs and carnitas. Had the opportunity to try this place yesterday and enjoyed it. Went for the French toast combo and was a little disappointed in the size, only one slice?! But it was soooo good. I also thought the cute glass of juice that was included in the combo was a plus. I was also very surprised with the interior of this place. I've been dining at "BC" Cafe or as it is now known as Kick Back Jack's for over 23 years. I dined at their original restaurant on Holt Blvd in Pomona back in the late 80's. I'll cut to the chase...If you want the best breakfast or lunch in town, this is the place. If you want to take a friend or relative to breakfast or lunch, this is the place. The food is great. We ordered pancakes ( which were good taste) , juice were fresh, but salat was terrible! Chicken was old, salat was few days old, everything cut in big pieces, to much sauce that is not possible to feel taste of salat. Caffe wasn't best as well , and only 3rd cup which waiter pickup up was clean enough to serve caffe. Great place to have breakfast, with nice sized portions. I recommend the country fried steak, eggs and pancakes, the pancake portion can easily be shared by 2 people. Finally able to write a review about this place. This is my 2nd favorite breakfast place in Rancho. The menu is huge and has a giant variety of delicious breakfast and lunch items. I appreciate that they have a waiting room for guests until their table is ready, so far so good if you ask me. Every time I come I feel like there are different waitresses each time but it doesn't matter cause they're all so friendly! The menu choices are really amazing. The items seem a little pricey for a family breakfast place but once you get your plate you'll understand. The portions are HUUUGE like a country style diner! I love it! The homefries are one of the best I've ever had, so much flavor. The pico de gallo is so FRESH and DELICIOUS. I am usually only able to eat half my plate but I love taking the other half home and eating it for my next meal. The restaurant is very clean and the murals on the walls are really nice to look at. The only downside to this place is that it's not open past 3 but it's okay just more reason to get my lazy butt up and get some good breakfast. read more

Great place for brunch! Large menu with lots to choose from! I had the classic club which was well stacked with bacon and turkey. The curly steak fries are well seasoned and perfectly crispy. Their breakfast portions are huge! My husband had the meat omelette with choice of a side, he picked pancakes and they were enormous. The pancakes were soft and fluffy. Had a pretty unimpressive time here the morning after a friend's wedding. I ordered the plate with chicken fried steak, biscuits and gravy, and 3 eggs. The chicken fried steak tasted only of flour and was the worst I have ever had. Biscuits and gravy were just ok, pretty bland. The eggs were eggs; can't mess them up. Another minor annoyance was sitting at the counter where we would hear the food runner/expos/servers complain to the cooks about how bad the food looked every 5 minutes or so.
