The food was good, but waited an hour for it to come out. We ordered when we ordered our drinks and asked that it come out in order, the wings as an appetizer, then the salad then the meal. It all came out together, an hour later. The server apologized and blamed it on the kitchen . The manager came to talk to us, offered to comp something due to the inconvenience. Apparently the food had only been put in 13 minutes before, so big mistake on the server part. When then bill came, she said she talked to the manager and he said we were ok so the bill didn't have any adjustments on it. We went for an early dinner on a Wednesday evening. The place was not overly crowded, so we were seated right away. The Server was pleasant and the atmosphere is casual and upbeat. We got our drinks right away. I ordered tea, it was definitely old, had that weird tinned flavor from sitting to long.. My friend ordered a cup of hot coffee, also old and cold, she sent it back. The Server said he'd make some fresh. We ordered the nachos per recommendation, don't bother, they're weird, and don't taste good. We also ordered firecracker shrimp that had no flavor and surprisingly good fries. It just wasn't a great experience, my friend's coffee finally came out as we were ready to pay the bill and leave. I quickly became a fan of Kickback Jack's in Alcoa.... until today. We took our family to eat lunch, very excited about doing this in fact. My granddaughter wanted the only nachos on the menu called the Tavern Nachos. She ordered them without any spicy on them.. which meant no chili, no jalapeños and no spicy queso cheese. She asked for shredded cheese instead. She got a big plate of chips and shredded cheese... not only did they charge full price for the nachos.. they charged to put shredded cheese on them. (See attached receipt). This along with the fact that because there were 8 of us they added an 18% gratuity. Anyone who knows me knows that I am a 30% tipper.... but not when I'm forced to be. I got the seafood platter with generous portions of flounder and small (but not popcorn) shrimp. Half of my fries were inedible, hard and dark brown. The slaw seemed a bit of an afterthought, mushy and a bit bitter tasting. Service was adequate, impersonal. My husband had to ask for coffee refills, we were never offered dessert. It was awesome with just the right amount of seasoning along with the loaded mashed potatoes that also were seasoned to perfection. This time we had the artichoke dip that was super tasty with hints of garlic and onion. My wife had the chicken strips that she said were good but needed a little salt. I had the ribeye and ribs. This place has an amazing outdoor patio bar. My wife and I had the perfect seat in the corner. You can see the mountains and feel the breeze while enjoying your meal. However, the entire outdoor area is smoking. Luckily, no one was smoking anywhere on the patio, but it would have ruined our lunch, if they had been. Our server, Janae, provided outstanding, friendly and attentive service. They had an excellent beer special, so we both had the Blue Moon pint (for $4.50). I had the lunch combo of half a flatbread pizza and Caesar salad. The salad was standard, but good. I asked for Italian sausage on my flatbread, but it didn't come with any. I would give this place 0 stars if I could! The manager, Mr. Slick Back 4 Hairs, was rude upon our arrival. We had a party of 8 and immediately he wanted to split our party up and sit in all different areas of the restaurant. He did not even tell us a wait time for how long it would be for our party to be able to sit together. However, every single person that came after were given approximate wait times. He was rude and unprofessional and was yelling at my elderly grandmother the entire time. We felt so unwelcome that we ultimately left the restaurant shortly after the interaction. I went there for lunch for the first time and will never go back again. I ordered the Cheddar Chicken sandwich which comes with bacon. I had asked for the bacon to be crispy and I got it raw. Half of the chicken was fatty which was disgusting. They put too much mayonnaise on my sandwich that I was eating more mayonnaise than anything else. I could barely taste what chicken I had left aside from the fat parts I had to cut off. All the mayo on the sandwich made it impossible to even eat it since it was so slippery and the contents of my sandwich kept sliding and falling out. The fries I received seemed like it came from the very bottom of the basket and tasted like crispy fried oil and not potatoes. The ranch I got to go with my fries looked and tasted more like mayonnaise than any kind of ranch I've ever had. I couldn't even finish my meal due to this experience. The service was good though.
