It is illegal for any store that does not require a membership (Costco/Sam's club) to mandate people show you their receipt upon leaving. There is however, "Shopkeepers privilege" that states if a store suspects you of stealing, they are able to search your bags and detain you as needed be. So. Walmart. When you ask me if you can check my receipt....I will say no. If you state that I am suspected of stealing, then, I will gladly show you the items in my cart and receipt. Please educate your employees of these rules so that when I tell them they cannot force me to show my receipt because the rule is to show receipts....they do not argue with me about it. Deep discounts for gasoline at their gas pump, for frequent shoppers -- up to $1 per gallon off. That single thing has me choosing this store as often as possible, for everything that I need that they happen to carry. Kroger has a great app for using digital coupons, and creating an aisle-by-aisle shopping list. The shopping list isn't perfect, but it sure helps when they decide to *move* everything about every 5 years. Every store in the area does this -- I guess we just have to live with it. They try to help customers as much as possible during the transition, by posting new aisle maps for us to use. Or, you can search for the item in the Kroger app on your phone. Great store.
