Superior Court of California Los Angeles computer screen shot of Medical Malpractice cases under The name Larry Khoo et Al on April 18,2022.

WARNING! The Infection is back ( or maybe was not entirely eradicated the 1st time). After surgery with Dr Khoo my mother suffered severe infection at location of surgery L3/L4, was on a pick line delivering antibiotics directly to the heart. She almost died. Now we just discovered some infection remained in the bone, and has spread. L3/L4 have completely collapsed, L5 is degenerate, L2 is narrowing and infection degeneration spreading to L1. Have your husband checked again for infection lingering in the bone / vertebrae. Nothing will show in the blood, but the infection quietly continues to eat at the bones / vertebrae

Everything he did for me turned out excellent. He took over as my surgeon after Edgar Dawson became I'll.

Is Dr. Khoo still practicing? I can't find a good working number and the LA Spine Clinic website isn't accessible.

Once again we are under wonderful and expert care. Our Journey started at the ER and eventually worked it's way through a few rooms. Eventually after full admission we ended up on the 3rd floor. Along the way there were so many individuals along the way that made me feel heard, acknowledged and like we really matter. My mother had a scheduled retina surgery at this surgical center, with a 6:00 AM operative start time and a 5:00 AM check-in. Upon arrival, we were greeted by Linda, who immediately appeared disengaged and uninterested. While checking us in, she requested an ID and insurance card, which is standard protocol. I explained that we had an electronic copy of the insurance card. She responded, in a noticeably dismissive tone, that they require a physical copy and could not accept an electronic version. As someone who works in the medical field, I am fully aware that electronic insurance cards are widely accepted. I politely offered to email or fax the information, but she stated that it "wouldn't matter" because their emails can take up to 30 minutes to come through. Shortly after, she located a copy of the insurance card within the paperwork already sent over by my mother's doctor's office the week prior. This lack of preparation was concerning, as these documents should have been reviewed well before the day of surgery. The remainder of the check-in paperwork was not clearly explained, and the overall delivery made us feel uncomfortable and, frankly, singled out. After our interaction, we observed her demeanor with other patients checking in. The tone and level of service she provided to them was noticeably warmer and more accommodating. Most of those patients appeared to be Caucasian and self-pay, while my mother is of Filipino descent with darker skin. The contrast in treatment was difficult to ignore. For a surgical center, where patients are often anxious and vulnerable, the front desk staff sets the tone for the entire experience. Compassion, professionalism, and preparedness are essential in that role. Unfortunately, our initial interaction fell far below that standard. That said, I want to emphasize that the remainder of our experience was excellent. The clinical staff, both pre- and post-operative, were attentive, professional, and kind. The anesthesiologist ensured my mother felt safe and well cared for. From a medical standpoint, she was in very capable hands. I sincerely hope this facility takes patient experience seriously and reevaluates the expectations and training of its administrative staff. What we encountered at check-in was unacceptable and does not reflect the quality of care provided by the clinical team.

There were many food stations and everything being made to order. Why walk down to the populated busy food area when there are wonderful options so close by! There were almost too many options...but I decided on the tostada salad. I got it loaded with beans, chicken, lettuce, cheese, olives, green onion, and pico...all on top of a baked shell. I received a phone message from UCLA saying my Health Insurance denied my lung cancer surgery…read morescheduled for a week away. I called my Health Insurance and they said "nonsense, it had been approved weeks earlier" and I held the Willie Wonka golden ticket best coverage possible. UCLA never contacted me correcting their false information and it was hell living through this trying to get it corrected. On top of that: My letter to UCLA patient care: I was a patient at UCLA Reagan about 2 months ago. 16 gauge needles were incorrectly used, way over sized, improperly placed and could have caused nerve damage in my hand. If you disagree I have several seasoned, experienced RNs on hand that would gladly discuss this with you. They were horrified at my treatment, as were some UCLA hospital staff. Read that; some. After my surgery I awoke from anesthesia in recovery. No pain medication was available because the pharmacy was closed for lunch an hour then it would be another hour after it opened to fill the prescription. Think about having a lung resection and awaking to excruciating pain no relief. I reported these nightmares to UCLA Patient Care and no one is listening, no response. No supervision during these ordeals either. Days later Doctors approved my release and the staff forgot about me. Family waiting to take me home and I was lost in the system. Is anyone paying attention to patient care? You claim you listen and you care, in all sincerity I have heard nothing after reporting all this. I have a legitimate concern, and I am being ignored. Nurses say I was the best patient ever, so it's nothing triggering these horror experiences that I did.

I had a 3:15pm appointment with Dr. Mendoza, on the 10th of this month for my yearly physical. Got there 15 minutes early and Blanca at the front desk checked me in & Silvia checked me out. Both ladies were very nice, helpful, pleasant and polite. For a physical, they don't charge you. By the time I took a seat in their waiting area, which is very clean with complimentary water (hot and cold), my name was called by Christina. She took me to room #10 to do all my vitals. This lady is just AMAZING in every way on every level. She is the sweetest, soft spoken, kind, nice, helpful medical assistant that I know of. She has seen me twice before. Did her job and left. She is also very knowledgeable & compassionate. Next up is my primary doctor, Dr. Mendoza. He goes over my chart/records and highly suggested for me to take a Pneumonia shot addressing that people over 50 are highly recommended to do so, but NOT required. So the ball was in my court. I agreed to take that shot to prevent from other illnesses in the near future. Especially, when I suffered from Shingles not too long ago. Dr.Mendoza is good. He can be a bit more thorough, he is a bit too fast and quick. However, he does know his job pretty well. I wish one day he can address me by my name. Requested 6 different types of blood work and left the office. The entire visit overall took less than an hour. Blood work normally takes 24 to 48 hours for us to get our results. Dr. Mendoza replied/emailed in less than 24 hours. Thank you for that. Christina came back to give me the shot. She was so gentle that I didn't even feel the needle in my left arm. She even asked me if I am right handed or left. Based on my answer, she did what she was supposed to do. It's a 2-story building so I went back to the 2nd floor to get my labwork done. It was easy, breezy. Kenneth, that could have been a little bit more pleasant and slap a smile on his face was not that welcoming like Rosario is. Did his job and I left. Underground parking, very steep, watch the walls not to crash or hit the wall and other cars. 2 elevators working perfectly, and they accept most credit cards, most insurance plans/payments and that's all that I know. Bathrooms are available on both floors and overall the bathrooms and facility are very clean!! This building used to be some movie/celebrity building. They have so many of black and white photos of late celebrities. Too beautiful. Don't listen or read those negative, one or two star reviews. Negative people will always stay negative. Whatever that you do for them, it's never good enough. But they still keep going back to the same restaurants, stores, hospitals, cleaners, gas stations etc.. Blanca also gave me an appointment with Dr. Cheng on 7/24 at 3:40pm. Thank you all very much! Our health is in THEIR HANDS!

I don't know what's going on, but this is not how a professional medical office should operate. The staff also seem disorganized and often don't appear to know what's going on. This is not the standard I expect from a practice affiliated with UCLA, and it's honestly embarrassing that they're associated with the UCLA name. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. I genuinely can't recommend this office.
