This location in particular was always neatly kept and had friendly staff. It sort of reminds me of a classier Zaxby's with a focus on grilled, spiced chicken rather than fried. I'm not a big wing fan so I usually got a chicken plate with a breast or thigh. Younger me was much more spicy-averse, and even though Nando's is known for its manageably spicy Peri-peri chicken, you can still find plenty to eat here even if you're the type to find mayonnaise too intense, lol.

THIS REVIEW IS OF THE QUALITY OF FOOD ALONE!!! I am actually from western NY, within 50 miles of where Buffalo Wings became famous and every western New Yorker knows a good chicken wing and I have only ever found one place in the UK with good enough wings for them to remind me if home... But now I've found another!!! I've been seeing this business prepare for opening over the last few wings and when I realised it was an American Wing Restaurant I was so excited as it's right on my way home! The chicken wings were the right size, had the right crisp and succulence and the buffalo bliss sauce was reminiscent of the Anchor Bar(birthplace of buffalo wings) itself. I was given 5 wings and wedges in what I believe will be one of the menu items. It didn't come with Bleu cheese as standard (which might have been for the pre-opening event..idk) , but I didn't ask for it so I will make sure to do so next time. It did come with coleslaw, though...which I didn't really see the point of, lol! Oh yeah hey have burgers and per menu items, I'll unlikely be trying these soon as wings are now so close to home. We were seated in the dining room at the back. My eye was immediately drawn to the menu's chicken wing section. Six options, first was salted caramel, the other five were... not salted caramel! Why read further when you have the option of sugar and chicken fat? The wings were incredible - perfectly crunchy, caramelised skin with juicy flesh underneath. Not at all cloying, the dish had a kind of honeyed warmth that was just right. The only downside is you'll need metal toothpicks to pry the bits of honeycomb from your teeth. For the main, I had the 12oz ribeye, triple cooked chips, and bone marrow sauce. The steak was as close to perfect as I've ever had - every bite a luscious morsel of flavour. So good, I was initially unsure what to do with the sauce, as I didn't want to dilute the flavour of the steak. One option was drinking it directly from the jug, the other was pouring it on the chips - I decided on the latter, even though it meant sacrificing the triple-cooked crispiness in a sea of meaty flavour. The agglomeration of kale on the outskirts of the ribeye was shockingly tasty, buttery and flavourful - first time in my life I can honestly say I enjoyed kale. The Vanilla and Orange shortbread ice cream sandwich felt like a second dessert considering the caramel starter. The shortbread stood out with its delicate sandy crunch, perfect alongside the ice cream and chocolate mousse. There was so much hazelnut crumb, I felt like I needed a dustpan and brush - like when you make a mess cleaning your toaster. So the dessert was great, but at the end I was let down by the texture of the plate which didn't lend itself to being scraped with a metal spoon - unless you enjoy the sound of a plate screaming at you in bloody agony as you try to enjoy the last drops of ice cream.

They didn't ask me to specify a spice level when I ordered, and I forgot to ask, so I ended up with their default. It was spicier than most westernized Thai and on the hairy edge of my tolerance, which is not low! The actual food itself I thought was just OK.
