Rice Workshop is the best value for money with clean Jap food that will wow your taste buds…read more The servers are well presented, friendly and carries a smile. There is a wide variety of main dishes, Jap snacks and Jap drinks. Part of the cutleries are disposable so that what you use will always be clean. Most of the times, the place is packed which means the food turnover is high so the food is always fresh. It also means that Rice Workshop is trusted among the locals for its delicious clean food that's why lots of people go there. Unfortunately, at times its hard to find seating but you can always buy takeaway from the store or with those Home Delivery services where you can buy online and eat in the comfort of your own home in front of the TV / laptop. I love the wide variety of carbohydrate bases where you have rice, udon, ramen. There are also a wide range of sauces from curry to miso. The food portions are well sized. The restaurant is clean and well decorated with the temperature climate controlled. I like how you don't share 2 / 4 table seaters with strangers unlike some restaurants in Hong Kong. I love this so much that I give it 5 stars. I highly recommend that you bring your family, friends and colleagues there this week to try. You be pleasantly surprised. :) Best regards, Jianfa Ben Tsai

I came here with a friend, excited to get some spring rolls (fried and fresh), and I also decided…read moreto get Pho, which doesn't happen but once in a blue moon since I'm not a big fan of eating pasta or noodles much. The restaurant wasn't busy at all, except for one of the staff members, who was eating and taking a break, and later a couple walked in to eat. The staff was quiet, yet friendly enough, and they were prompt to serve us. The fried spring rolls were good, as were the fresh spring rolls, but they weren't anything spectacular. I certainly wouldn't send them away if I was offered them. I got the spicy beef pho, and I was painfully disappointed, as there was absolutely no flavor to this whatsoever, though it was a hearty bowl. My friend got a chicken pho and seemed to enjoy it, but when she tried mine, she agreed that it was extremely bland, from the broth to the meat. I noticed that it looked like they used a mixture of chicken and beef, rather than just beef as well, unless I was unaware that beef can turn white in color when cooked. I have trained in culinary school though, so I'm pretty sure I can tell chicken from beef. Overall, while some things were good, it is hard for me to rate this as anything but average since the things I liked were average, while the Pho was not something I enjoyed at all. It was disappointing, but still not horrible, and perhaps my dish was just an off dish for them.

I think there must be a direct inverse correlation between the level of service and the tastiness…read moreof Pho. I've been testing my theory for a while now and have noticed that the more smiles and better customer service you get, the less authentic and tasty the Pho. Pho Dzung continues my belief because the service is basic, at best, but the Pho is damn good. There's chicken all sorts of beef cuts you can order (go for the brisket) and you can have it in a small ($8), medium ($9) or large ($10) serve which basically translates in to Big, Gigantic and Dear God I Hope You're Hungry. There's all manner of sauces, cutlery, napkins and tea flasks ready and waiting and once you order a plate of fresh herbs, lemon wedges and beanshoots will be unceremoniously plonked on your table without a smile. Wait a few minutes and out will come the steaming bowl of Pho. It won't be served with a smile, or barely any eye contact. But trust me it will be damn good and you won't care a bit that you haven't been fawned all over by the staff.

Now, by clicking the fourth star for this review Yelp has kindly given me a gauge on what a 4-star…read morerating really meant, and that is "Yay! I'm a fan". This sentence could not be closer to the absolute truth as I am *definitely* A FAN--without any form of exaggeration. Hot Star Large Fried Chicken is one of those side shops that many people often walk past without even the slight interest. It isn't that flash nor fancy and it surely doesn't give you the opportunity to walk in, sit and view their menu. However, don't let the aesthetic fool you as Hot Star Large Fried Chicken (or HSLFC herein) is probably the best muchies killer in the face of Melbourne. Why? Because Chicken, that's why. HSLFC doesn't offer much in terms of variations and range but what it does offer is both delicious and fantastic. There are, if I recall correctly, only around 4-5 main choices that you can purchase and about 3-4 sides that could accompany those mains. However, with these limitations, one may assume that this is bad but these limitations is the BEST thing that could possibly happen for a store like this, and let me explain why. Having a small pool of choices makes it easier for people who have never tried it. They can literary walk up and make up their minds in half a minute. Imagine having someone walk into a strip shop (no, you dirty mind you, a shop on the strip of road) and be bombarded with ONE HUNDRED different options! That person would be 1) overwhelmed and 2) probably get so overwhelmed by the choices and decide to leave. Who would want that? Bad business. The food itself is actually quite yum! The chicken is very tasty and is definitely one of the comfort foods that I crave every once in awhile. They cook it for a decent amount of time but the outcome of said long cooking is an amazing handful of deep fried chicken, not to mention the other handful of sides which makes it two handfuls, which makes it even better because now you need to decide which hand to eat out from first! Overall, I think HSLFC is a go to shop when you have the muchies--or drunk, hey I don't judge. They serve great quality food for a great price, if you don't mind waiting a few minutes for the chicken to go from raw to de-freakin-licious. HSLFC has earned its ranks with me. I think you should give them a go haha
