Rice Workshop, we've been to back when they were just a small restaurant in Chinatown near Target. Known for their green tea soft serve. These days there's another branch at the Emporium fancy food court (our favourite kind). $10-ish bowls these are the cheapest dinners you'll get at the Emporium.
But first octopus balls ($3), they were old and a bit chewy. As fresh as that skewer they're on, bendy and not strong enough to support them. *regret*
I ordered the teriyaki salmon on rice ($11) as my main which came with pickled ... it was a good portion *not stingy* on the fish though somehow the salmon had a teriyaki marinade but some of the rice was soaked in soy sauce at the bottom. No one told me we needed to mix it up before eating, and I was left with some very salty rice! It would have been nice if the salmon had a dressing, though it was bland.
Daifuku/Mochi ($2) was something we had our eye on for a while though didn't order till now. Why? God knows how long ago these were made, as they came from China. Sushi Burger also has them, but locally made ones. Knowing it was made in china leaves a bad taste in my mind. We had the red bean one, chewy but fun and not too sweet.
Service was quick and friendly! read more
