THIS REVIEW IS OF THE QUALITY OF FOOD ALONE!!! I am actually from western NY, within 50 miles of where Buffalo Wings became famous and every western New Yorker knows a good chicken wing and I have only ever found one place in the UK with good enough wings for them to remind me if home... But now I've found another!!! I've been seeing this business prepare for opening over the last few wings and when I realised it was an American Wing Restaurant I was so excited as it's right on my way home! The chicken wings were the right size, had the right crisp and succulence and the buffalo bliss sauce was reminiscent of the Anchor Bar(birthplace of buffalo wings) itself. I was given 5 wings and wedges in what I believe will be one of the menu items. It didn't come with Bleu cheese as standard (which might have been for the pre-opening event..idk) , but I didn't ask for it so I will make sure to do so next time. It did come with coleslaw, though...which I didn't really see the point of, lol! Oh yeah hey have burgers and per menu items, I'll unlikely be trying these soon as wings are now so close to home. Anyway, the opening is on the 5th of November and there is 20% off so I will most certainly be there to get some good wings again.., eventually when they are fully trained, I will update this on service too!

Can I just say a huge thank you to Mother Clucker? These guys were my Sunday night Saviours on the…read moreweekend just gone... I should probably explain how a fast food joint saved the day. Sunday was the launch of XP at the Mockingbird Theatre. This is a geek themed event held once a night and is a bit of a mecca for all things board game, computer game, quiz and film orientated. Naturally we had to go. I am currently on a bootcamp scheme (see http://www.yelp.co.uk/biz/fit-body-bootcamp-birmingham for info), meaning I am on a strict diet of proteins, fats and No carbs. After consuming a smoothie for my breakfast and a salad for my lunch, I was starving hungry by 5pm. Everyone seemed to be either ordering pizza (a major no-no for me) or heading to Subway for their tea. I thought neither of these would be an option before a helpful person mentioned that Subway did salad bowls, problem solved... Or so I thought. Despite having all of the components of salad, Subway in Digbeth DON'T do salad bowls (and their staff are pretty unhelpful too). In a major grump, I left the store to see what else was on offer on the street. Right next door I came across Mother Clucker. Firstly, they scored a point for having a name that made me snigger, secondly... They couldn't have been more helpful if they tried. After a quick peruse of the menu I opted for lemon and herb chicken (which is served without skin). I asked if I could have some salad with this, after looking at me strangely for a minute - the guy said "Sure, we can do that. It'll be no extra charge". Winner. The chicken was cooked fresh for me as I waited and I requested some lettuce, onion and chillies (all I could have). I was even warned that the salad might be a bit rubbish as it's predominently meant for burgers, but I thought it was sweet that they warned me. My diet friendly feast was a budget busting £3.50. The guys that did end up going to Subway ended up pretty jealous of my dinner after all. This new kid on the block is sparkling clean, very friendly and super helpful. Will I be back? You can bet your bottom dollar I will.

The event was held in Lab 11 one of the coolest clubs/spaces in Birmingham incredibly fresh in the arches of digbeth there was both indoor and outdoor space and plenty of seating. The concept was amazing, take an amazing club, host 4 pop up restaurants and serve chicken wings and host a rave and bingo during the day. Execution was a minor problem, they had amazing pop ups with amazing chicken wings I have to say some of the best i've ever eaten. I have to say both Rebel India and Momma Bear Wings 'n' Tings were the clear favourites with amazing flavours and a great selection. The thing that was missing was the bingo, there was no bingo or any form of entertainment/games during the time I was there and I think this let it down slightly. Amazing food, just the lack of bingo let down wingfest.

In all honesty I had a lovely day. I had no expectations as I've never been to this event so that…read moremay be why I wasn't dissapointed. I frequent lab 11 so it was a bit of a change to what I'm used to turning up sober for a start. The smell of the food as you walked in was delightful and we went straight to order. There were 3 of us so we all picked a vendor to try so we could get the full experience. My favourite was momma bears I opted for the mango jerk wings and they did not dissapoint. The vibe was very me even though there was no bingo I still had a good time. I'll probs go back tbh as chicken wings are my ting! And hopefully get a few rounds of bingo in.

We were seated in the dining room at the back. My eye was immediately drawn to the menu's chicken wing section. Six options, first was salted caramel, the other five were... not salted caramel! Why read further when you have the option of sugar and chicken fat? The wings were incredible - perfectly crunchy, caramelised skin with juicy flesh underneath. Not at all cloying, the dish had a kind of honeyed warmth that was just right. The only downside is you'll need metal toothpicks to pry the bits of honeycomb from your teeth. For the main, I had the 12oz ribeye, triple cooked chips, and bone marrow sauce. The steak was as close to perfect as I've ever had - every bite a luscious morsel of flavour. So good, I was initially unsure what to do with the sauce, as I didn't want to dilute the flavour of the steak. One option was drinking it directly from the jug, the other was pouring it on the chips - I decided on the latter, even though it meant sacrificing the triple-cooked crispiness in a sea of meaty flavour. The agglomeration of kale on the outskirts of the ribeye was shockingly tasty, buttery and flavourful - first time in my life I can honestly say I enjoyed kale. The Vanilla and Orange shortbread ice cream sandwich felt like a second dessert considering the caramel starter. The shortbread stood out with its delicate sandy crunch, perfect alongside the ice cream and chocolate mousse. There was so much hazelnut crumb, I felt like I needed a dustpan and brush - like when you make a mess cleaning your toaster. So the dessert was great, but at the end I was let down by the texture of the plate which didn't lend itself to being scraped with a metal spoon - unless you enjoy the sound of a plate screaming at you in bloody agony as you try to enjoy the last drops of ice cream.

This was a charming and well appointed pub in a beautiful town. We were driving through and stopped…read morefor a pint, only to find ourselves enjoying dinner. The pork belly lollipops and salted carmel wings were our favorite! We also admired amazing chips (fries) and ordered a second bowl. The happy hour was well priced and the beer selections were great. As an American we don't do wings anywhere near as nice as these! I am ruined!
