    Fries

I got the spicy chicken sandwich meal which the sandwich was alright definitely nothing that looked appetizing, but the fries were barely warm and slowly tasted like cold paper towels. It's like they only warmed up the top portion of the fries or just gave me the leftovers.

Typically, I rate based on several visits to get an overall picture of the place, but I will bypass the rule if the experience was exceptional (#1). Mike's was downright excellent. I ate the food warm and I ate it cold, and I'm still thinking about it. I tried to save some time by ordering online and also bypass any potential lines. Thankfully, there were none when I arrived, but a very full house of happy eaters despite being well past primetime lunch hours. The staff was friendly in the front but fielding many orders at the same time. I missed the literal pick up window outside, but was happy to get a gander of what it looks like inside. There's plenty of seating for groups and the place seemed a lot cleaner than the divey narratives folks emphasized. Prices were not astronomical, as I paid $14 and $13 for an order of 4 tenders + 2 sides, as well as 2 wings and 2 sides. The tenders were nothing like a Raising Cane's with skimpy portions and high price tags, instead it was plump, crispy, and perfectly fried. The accompanying sauces (Mike's sauce + buffalo sauce) were excellent additions and complimented the crispy fries. I was extremely impressed with the mac & cheese and very flavorful, mashed potatoes and gravy. The wings were no different: soft exterior with a nice crunch, meaty chunks off the bone, and wasn't too greasy. While the green beans weren't the most memorable side, the creamy corn was strangely addicting. Next time, I'm ordering the sides separately and in a large. I can only hope the other locations are just as good and will make good effort to visit them all. It's a rare occasion to be this infatuated with a place, but I'm confident it will be the first on my return list when I'm back in Dallas again. ___________ (#1) Or exceptionally bad.

All of the sides are really good too. Tip: Order online and don't call. I called 8 times trying to get an update on my online order and they didn't answer once. When I arrived they had everything ready and it was all correct though.

Here is my visit for today: had a call I needed to take and Don was kind enough to sit me in the far back so I wouldn't disturb the others. TY! Christina was excellent, checking in me and waiting patiently while I decided what to order. TY! I ordered the 2-piece chicken fried tenders with green beans, a biscuit, and a side of gravy...delish! And, HOT AND FRESH. Dig it! Super cute inside with lots of chicken and rooster art. Also a shoutout to Chris, the General Manager...super friendly and has his eye on the prize - walking the floor and greeting guests. Toe thumbs up! Be sure to support this LOCAL GEM!

I swear he had our big table and an entire full section. Chicken Fried Bacon I give it a 3. I loved the taste but I like my bacon cooked all the way. Chicken Fried Chicken was moist and really good. I will give that a 4. The Black Eyed Peas Peas wore horrible. Black Eyed Peas needs to be slow cooked and butter needs to be added to the pot to make them creamy. Yeah I rate them a zero. The Brussel sprouts were the star. I don't know what they did to them but they had everyone wanting more. Yes they get a 5. Total rating 3.4 Try it for yourself you may like it.

I got the Italian wings, house fries, catfish fillets, Mac&Cheese, candied yams, and a strawberry margarita. The Catfish was 10/10 crispy seasoned not too salty perfect!! The Italian wings were recommended and I'm glad they did 9/10. Candied yams were delicious 10/10. Mac&Cheese was good as well 7/10. The menu is small and focused on homestyle comfort food, which I actually prefer over a menu with 87 random options. They also had a whiteboard of cocktails, all priced at $10. I ordered a margarita, and it was not the best or the worst. It was a little too sweet for me. I like mine tangier and more tequila-forward, but it was drinkable. The food was amazing overall. I ordered the greens, yams, and lemon pepper penne pasta with chicken. Greens: 4/5 Great flavor with a little kick. My only complaint was the number of stems. Lemon pepper penne: 3/5 The lemon pepper flavor was a little too subtle for me. It tasted more like Alfredo, and the sauce was thinner and more watery than I prefer. Yams: 5/5 The star of the show. Sweet, flavorful, and the consistency was perfect. Everybody at the table ended up ordering their own yams because nobody wanted to share. Of course, I also sampled everybody else's food. Mac and cheese: 5/5 Cheesy, creamy, flavorful, and served piping hot. No complaints. Creamy penne pasta: 5/5 I honestly wish I had ordered this instead. The house-made cream sauce with spinach, sun-dried tomatoes, and Parmesan was so good. They ran out of chicken breast for my order, but the way they handled it was above and beyond. They comped me and made me an entire meal to take home. That is what customer service is supposed to look like. The restaurant is quaint, so I highly recommend making a reservation, especially on the weekend. I had to email to reserve because I did not get an answer when I called. The space could use a little sprucing up, but the food and service easily outweigh the lack of decor. The owners were incredibly sweet, the food was made with care, and I will absolutely be back.
