Moving onto the food, I decided to order the Chicken Thighs with 2 portions of chips for £10.60, with medium strength. I was dissapointed to hear that my friends Chicken Butterfly was going to take 25 minutes, so as a good friend I kindly voulenteeted to torture him and get my food first. (The things you do when you are hungry!) The chicken was quite nice and good qualify, and it was a nice, juicy piece however this was sadly ruined by how spicy if was, they did coat it with the medium peri-peri coating but it was so much, it tasted like I had ordered extra hot, which ruined the meal abit for me. The portion sizes here were huge, for example my friend's Chicken Butterfly was double what it normally is and nearly got a full loaf of garlix bread, meanwhile I got 4 large Chicken Thighs and more chips than I could count. The staff seemed nice enough but the service was slow, having to wait to be seated despite there being no one waiting and then for a tablw, despite obviously tables being free, although I accept thr fact they were quite busy. Overall this Nando's stores look nice but the huge amounts of everything are just off-putting, making the spices even a lot hotter than what you asked for, while consisering issues with waiting, I sadly feel this branch has only done enough to warrant two stars.

I'm happy to report that I was definitely wrong! ~ Atmosphere: Your standard Nando's decor. They have their own on-site parking which is a definite bonus and the interior is pretty large. From what I can tell, Nando's is quite popular so there were loads of people there even on a weekday night. ~ Customer Service: Really good. Like other Nando's, you order at the counter and they bring your food out to you (get your own cutlery and drinks). The servers though were especially friendly and willing to have a laugh with you as well. Gives a warm atmosphere and nice feeling. ~ Food: I ordered the Chicken Thighs + 2 Sides (Mash and Peri-Peri Chips). Absolutely delicious! The chicken thighs were tender and the medium Nando's sauce it was cooked in was divine as usual. One thing I do love about Nando's is that there's free extra sauce provided if you want; I love drizzling on some extra hot sauce! --- I've yet to experience a bad Nando's in Britain and I hope this trend continues. The food here is hit and miss, the chicken can be well cooked and crispy or it can be soggy and slimy. There really is no consistency here as I've had many takeaways from here and it always varies. The price is reasonable if you use one of the offers they have available, or you are too drunk to care. I'd say you get what you pay for however if you opt for delivery the charges seem to add up quite a bit. The staff, again, hit and miss. Sometimes they have been very friendly and on occasion we have had some quite rude encounters when ordering down the phone. If you are looking for fried chicken, you will find it here and it will probably be of an acceptable standard. If you want a Miss Millie's I would recommend this one over any other one in the surrounding area.

I do believe it is the same price and same menu whether you do eat in or out. However, if me and McLovely are doing the date thing then we will have the sweet potato mash (Which was a little cold unfortunately this time.) and 5 spicy wings with a side order of fries. The chicken, as usual was fantastic. Nice and spicy, slightly crispy skin and tender on the inside. For that, without drinks, will take you to around the £10 mark which I feel is great for the quality food. The staff were fine there, nice but nothing out of the ordinary. All in all a nice meal was had and I know I'll be back at some point.

You know the ones I mean; the restaurants that are halfway between 3 course kinds of place and McDonalds, where everything is cheap and slightly processed, but still very edible and you get knives and forks with your meal. Nando's is one of my favourites due to the speed of service; there's no waiting for staff to come sort you out. You just order at the till and it gets brought to you as soon as it's ready, which is refreshing as there's no pressure to order with a waiter looming over you. I'm not too much of a fan of the location, however. I'm not sure why, but eating food in a shopping centre makes me feel like I'm in an aquarium and everyone's judging me. It must be the way I'm inside, gorging myself on the remains of a dead bird whilst they're outside going about their business. Either way, it's the reason I won't be heading back to this Nando's anytime soon. If you don't share my weird aquarium tic, then by all means, try this place. It could be fantastic for you.

I don't think I've ever seen anything look quite so different from the name it carries as this place! But, it's an international chain with outlets in London, Paris and NYC and so they must be getting something right! They've got nineteen outlets in London alone. According to Naeem, who works at the St Mary Street, Cardiff branch, the biggest seller is, (somewhat unsurprisingly), the deep fried chicken... so I guess that people tend to think that this is their fotre.

Well Damn you Sherlock because I wish I never bothered. It cost me about a fiver for some spicy wings, a couple of chicken strips (or something like that), chips and a medium drink. The wings were good, but there were only two of them. The chicken strips were really greasy and tasted of nothing in particular. The chips were horrible. My Fanta was alright though! Definitely drunk food though. I won't be going there again, and it was only late night hunger and the fact Chicken Cottage is 2 minutes away that drove me to it. Next time I'll walk the little bit further to Chip Alley.

With Miss Millie's a few steps away it's only a matter of price that tempt's people to go here. Miss Millie's is a tried and tested recipe and as a copycat CFC are cashing in on the same formula. Due to the excessive amounts of salt in the recipe it's difficult to determine which is better between the two shops, but in my experience going along the brand route usually results in a better experience. As I have mentioned in previous fired chicken reviews, it's not a good idea to mix with alcohol after a night out due to the excessive salt, which has a dehydrating effect.

That's not to say that there is some nutritional benefit to the fried chicken combo's that they serve... protein is the most essential ingredient in any meal, and is the only thing that the body cannot manufacture itself, even when it is well fed with all of the right things. For this reason we need to eat it every day to remain healthy. We need on average about 40 grams of the stuff daily, and Classic Fried Chicken probably provide that in each of their chicken options... and then some... And this is the downside! It is not advisable to regularly eat excessive amounts of protein, especially from animal sources, as there are diminishing returns on the health front. It's a complex subject, and so I won't go into here. Suffice to say, the occasional chicken meal is probably okay, but as a staple mainstay it's more than likely to be a bad idea. Fried food is really not a great way to obtain nutrition under any circumstances as it creates unwanted side effects that stress the body out. It's pretty toxic, especially if the fast food outlets don't change their oil as often as the could, and with escalating oil costs, I would image that it gets changed less often than it used to at most at the fast food outlets. A lot of the meals come with a smattering of salad, and whilst this is better than nothing, the amounts provided are woefully insufficient to amount to a well balanced meal. Classic Fried Chicken appears to be a well-run establishment that offers eating in as well as takeaways. They always have special offers running on a rotational basis.

I am pleased to make Gourmet Burger Kitchen my first review on my trip to Cardiff, my latest of…read morecities visited, in the capital of Wales this time, and I hope this place sets the tone for the rest of my stay here as it was a relatively good experience I had here. GBK have 53 stores in the United Kingdom, and as I recall they have 3 stores in Cardiff, the capital of Wales alone, this branch is classed as "The Cardiff Library" branch for some reason and is apart of the St David's mall, and is right next to Wangyama and Carluccio's, rival restaurant chains specializing in different cuisine, being asian fusion and Italian respectively. My server here seemed pretty friendly, and got me sat down quite quick, and made sure I had visited GBK before so I knew the essentials such as ordering at the bar and the cool loyalty scheme with there app which gives you free sides, milkshakes and burgers, for visiting, for example every other visit you get an award, if you visit 3 different branches you get a free burger, if you try all 6 milkshakes, you get a free one, so that is pretty cool. This GBK was quite nice, and cool inside however it was smaller than my local branch in Spinningfields in Manchester, it just seemed nicer with a cooler vibe, due to its location and decoration in Cardiff. I decided to order a Gluten Free Cheese and Bacon burger, with Applewood cheese with some skin on chips, using my free loyalty code on this occasion having ranked up two previous visits on my loyalty card at my local Spinningfields store, and of course I tried a milkshake, working my way up there offer were you try them all for a free one. I was served at the bar by Conor, he seemed pretty friendly, and I did ask him for a few recommendations such as the best cheese, and the best milkshake, and what Applewood Cheese like, and decided to order a banana milkshake and the Applewood Cheese based on his reccomendation. As always, the milkshake taken a while to come and taken much longer than my friend's San Maguel, as well as being priced more expensive than his San Miguel at £4.30, however it did taste fresh and it was very nice, and I did also enjoy it, as I did previously with there lime flavor at their Spinningfields branch, although this wasn't my favorite milkshake at GBK, having preferred the Lime, I still was pleased with the drink and enjoyed it. Moving onto my burger, this also was quite nice however it was abit to overfilled to what I expected, even with some sort of habenero jam and relish, which sadly wasn't very nice, it was the typical gluten free bun GBK use from a bakery in the north of England, which was good to see, and my burger was quite nice, minus the lettuce which it was stuffed with, and it just tasted and even felt hard and low quality, and the habenero jam or relish gave it a horrible taste too and worsened the burger sadly, and I had to scrape this off. My chips were average, they were very hot however the portion just seemed a little small, and it definitley wasn't the best chips I have had from a GBK branch, I regret to report. Overall, this place is quite cool and I am pleased that they helped get my Cardiff trip off with a bang, but sadly I can't help but feel this place has only done enough for a solid three star rating in what is actually a landmark for me being my 300th review which awarded three stars, making three only the second rating I have awarded over 300 times to joining two stars in that case, however don't be confused I am giving this branch of GBK a well deserved three.

Luckily they have lots of offers and vouchers so everyone can have a try for cheaper. I'm quite happy they sell New Zealand beer too to wash down my burger, while my boyfriend is a massive fan of the Oreo milkshakes! I like this restaurant more than the Cardiff Bay one, its bigger and feels less plastic and clinical. I say give it ago, just maybe don't expect the best burger of your life.
