I think it was the Goodies, way back in the seventies, that released the song the Funky Chicken, and for some unfathomable reason it steadily made its way up the 'hit parade', (as the charts were known back then), cementing them another hit amid a series of unquestionably awful singles, making them the kings of cheese... they loved it! I guess that the Funky Chicken fast food outlet on Clifton Street is named after this song, and when all is said and done, it's a good name for a business of this kind... proving ultimately that there is redemption for everyone, even the Goodies!
(I loved the Goodies when I was a kid by the way!)
The Funky Chicken is a well established business in this troubled area, where the one way system is reeking havoc amongst the local trade. Sales for fast food are down across the board, especially during day time hours, but thankfully the Funky Chicken Is withstanding this nadir in the streets history.
