What an idiot i am, this is by far the best kebab shop in blackpool, possibly lancashire. No fancy burgers, pizzas, indian food, fried chicken e.t.c. here, just kebabs about 6 options altogether, i plumped for a large donner (no salad options on offer just shredded cabbage and onion and a chioce of 5 sauces). It was delicious with home made chilli and garlic sauce and the meat was of a far superior quality that you get at the all singing all dancing takeaway. It is run by a lovely couple, a Scottish lady and i presume her Armeniem husband, who were both very pleasant, welcoming, and nothing seemed too much trouble. I visited early evening about 6pm expecting the lamb to be warmed up or just cooking but this was well cooked and fresh, they dont even open past 10pm so get there early as this is one kebab you can eat sober and savour. If there is a downside it is that the place is a bit dated and could do with a good clean decor wise, but i thought this added to the charm. I tried this place after a search on t'internet for best kebab shops in blackpool this place was there and thats why i tried it, i am going back only once a month though as i have to watch the waistline and look after the cholestrol levels. To be blunt, by US standards we are looking at probably three stars (at best) and they would have trouble surviving. On the island, fried chicken is one of the great foods that is lacking and the best is probably what you can get from a late night kebab house. By island standards, it probably earns a Michelin star, or at least four stars. The chicken itself is more KFC original recipe style, breaded and tasty but not crispy (which is my preference). The chicken is actually pretty high quality and meaty and the breading is nice if you are not looking for crispy (and good otherwise, hence I ate four pieces). Chips are typical fast food frozen fries, they won't make you forgot McDonalds but you'll finish them. The restaurant itself is clean and bright though with limited seating, so much nicer than the KFC around the corner. Overall, a good place to get your fried chicken fix and a nice place to have a meal.

Okay, so Southern Fried Chicken doesn't win many points for originality or creativity with its name, but it does make up for this with the general good quality of its food. Their chicken is, as you might expect, pretty tasty without excelling at the ancient art of chicken in batter too much, whilst their chips are pretty decent as fast food chips go. As well as chicken and chips, Southern Fried Chicken also sells burgers and pizzas which although makes the name somewhat misleading does give the menu a bit of variety. The decor is humble much like the food which is cooked simply over a flamed grill. Simple is best when it comes to cooking chicken and these guys do it right. The prices are very reasonable and the food ranges from a peri peri chicken Caesar salad to lamb chops to burgers an falafel. The fries are good with a nice spice on them and there are other sides such as grilled corn on the cob, hummus ( very good and you should order an extra pita bread) or chicken wings. They are one of the few places to do a loyalty card on the Isle of Man so every ten meals you get one free. Believe me its easy to rack up a free chicken as once you go there you will go again! If you are in a rush and call them you can preorder your lunch so it is ready when you arrive. The staff are friendly and happy to have a chat with you. If something is not right or you need something then just ask them and they will do it if they can. Definitely worth a visit when you come to the isle of man.

They take orders sometimes a little late though. Expect your food to be done in just under 10 minutes.Sometimes the chicken is already done but it takes them 5 minutes to make your chips.
