We had a great experience with Molyneux. Here is my list of highlights:…read more - Everything happened on time. - They were flexible in scheduling. We appreciated that we were able to set back the dates as we needed to complete a painting project first. - We utilized the financing option and had no issues. The payments were affordable and we paid it off no problem and did not need to pay any interest. - We like the quality of the carpet. It was the perfect solution for our needs. - The installation workers were very friendly and did an excellent job. - Our salesperson, Pat, has been with the company for many years and was also friendly. He helped us make a decision and we did not feel that he was trying to oversell anything. He truly had our best interest in mind and we appreciate that. I have referred Molyneux to friends. When we have more carpeting needs we will be contacting them again for sure.

We hired Molyneaux to install manufactured hardwood on our first and second floor. They were…read moresupposed to have it installed while we were on our honeymoon. Instead, they barely finished our second floor and had none of our first floor done when we returned. On top of that, it took them an additional three days to finish the job. The final job included uneven floors, floors that creaked, and floors that were not evenly distributed. They clearly were in a hurry, with quality being a minor concern. They offered us $500 credit for a future job but their pricing for said future job was so outrageous it seemed a joke. Instead we went another direction. We used Empire for our addition 6 months later, and the quality difference is noticeable. The Empire floors are solid, even, and stable. The Molyneaux floors are uneven, inconsistently placed, and lacking quality for the price charged. Overall very disappointing.

We recently had new sheet vinyl flooring installed in our kitchen and butler's pantry, replacing…read morethe old (and ugly) linoleum in the kitchen and dark carpet in the pantry. The installation went fairly smoothly with one or two glitches (see below), and the final result looks great. Most important is the invisibility of the seam from the two pieces of flooring that were used. And the installation itself only took two days. Unfortunately, there were some glitches along the way. After ripping up the carpet and before installing the plywood sub-floor, the installer suggested "a change of plan"--not removing the linoleum and the sub-floor in the kitchen. Taking it up, he said, would require two layers of new plywood to compensate for the height. My wife stood firm and reminded him that the contract said, "To lift vinyl/sub/carpet," rather than to leave it down and lay the new flooring on top of it. The installer agreed with no problem, but it was annoying, as we had lost a week testing the linoleum for asbestos and waiting for the result. When the installers were finished, I did a complete inspection and found no problems. However, I did not open the basement door, as it was obstructed by a table, reminding me not to walk where the seam was, with glue still drying for another 24 hours. When I did open the door the next day I found the door rubbing the floor (yes, right over the seam). A call that day (Saturday) resulted in a callback the following Tuesday, with someone scheduled to return the following Monday. That fix took less than 15 minutes, and in the meantime the brand new flooring was scraped every time I opened or closed that door. As a result, where I would fault the company is in communication. For another thing, our contract mentioned, "To install new 4" ribbon base along cabinets--color--" and a blank line. That color was never determined beforehand. Fortunately we found the blue the workmen arrived with was acceptable. This inconsistent communication led to the project taking over one 6 weeks to complete, from first contact and appointment in the store to the final fixing of the door problem. Also, I was dismayed when, putting everything back in place, I discovered dirty handprints on counters, doors, and appliances. It seems like the installers could have washed their hands before maneuvering the white fridge and stove back in place, leaving me less to clean up. My wife and I, as college professors, are always giving grades, so we would give Molyneux a B+ for this job. We would likely use them again, but after the sticker shock of the final estimate, we will need to delay further work on carpeting for at least another year.

We recently had our basement floor replaced with laminate. Extremely disappointed in the service we…read morewere provided. The cost (we found out to late) was way over market value, we were quoted one price and finally when we received the breakdown we realized the lies we had been told. However, we were then informed that we had only 3 days to cancel and now would have to pay 50% of the price to cancel!!! We reached out and negotiations were off the table. They refused to do anything! We were told a Father and son would do the install - keep it in the family and instead 4 Brazilians came that spoke little to no English after the foreman left we had no way to communicate. The Foreman left within 2 hours of beginning the job. We paid to have the furniture moved and they did not move it back where it all originally was. They also were very careless and broke a few items. In addition the walls were marred and gouged during the install. The floor was never vacuumed afterward and there was dust on EVERYTHING - no clean up at all. Also after paying $484.00 Thru them to have the toilet lifted to lay the flooring it took 3 days to have it put back in and they acted like it wasn't their responsibility. I would be very careful when dealing with these people!!!! Read the contract carefully, Don't take anything they say as the truth and ask for a breakdown of costs - we were told we got a 30% promotional discount and it was $0!!
