New asphalt on the downhill side is 1+ inches higher than the existing pavement, so it holds a pool of water and sediment that has to be swept out. Really nice in the winter when it freezes and you have to skating rink. Job looks like drunken monkeys did it. They claim not their fault but tried it buy me off with a small refund. Of course this job was entirely off the books.

They paved my driveway and was running low on materials and the last 20 ft was spread so thin it was falling apart in 2 months. Also the seams for new construction are horrible ther like going over speed bumps. They came back and cut out a small area last year and repaired some on there shotty work but didn't address the whole area. Now it's completely falling apart and they refuse to fix it saying it's out of warranty but they know that I was spread to thin and had nothing to do with a warranty it was there craftsmanship and was set up for failure since day 1...But he said he will gladly come back out and give me a price to redo there work that failed. I called several contractors needing my roof replaced on short notice due to a series of bad roof leaks on an very old flat roof system and was in a rush to get the project started with the Spring rain well on its way. Shawn Whalen himself CAME TO MY HOME THE VERY NEXT MORNING after we spoke on the phone to evaluate my roof. While I had to chase other contractors down for their bids, he sent me his bid in a timely manner. Not only that, HIS BID WAS COMPETITIVE with the other 2 estimates I obtained and more importantly, HE AGREED TO PUSH BACK OTHER JOBS to accommodate our roof project... it was an emergency since our roof was actively leaking! We had to wait a week or so for the weather to warm up to start the project due to the manufacturers recommendation. Shawn really listened, because he knew my wife and I were very worried about the leaks and we had bad weather coming. So two days later he came out with one of his guys and patched our roof. That day after the patch job, we had a big rainstorm and were able to sleep through the night. It was the first time we hadn't worried about our home getting additional water damage in several weeks. We were really nervous leading up to the project because firstly, it's such a big financial commitment, and second, we didn't want to have to deal with any roof issues going forward for a really long time. The days leading up to the install, I was frequently texting Shawn with questions as well as requests for colors and materials I preferred for the re-roof. HE WAS ALWAYS QUICK TO GET BACK TO ME with answers and to confirm the changes to my order and NEVER GAVE THE IMPRESSION I WAS BOTHERING HIM. When the project got delayed a couple days due to the weather, Chuck from his office kept me updated. Big shoutout to Chuck! His project manager got sick the first day of the install so Shawn showed up to make sure everything got started without any problems. HIS CREW WAS WELL STAFFED, EFFICIENT, AND FINISHED THE JOB IN 2 DAYS. They came back on the 3rd day to do a quality check without me asking. For anyone who has coordinated renovation work on their home in any capacity, you know how rare it is to have a truly professional experience with a contractor.
