HUGE mistake coming here. They may be the cheapest but it is not worth it!!!!!!!!!!!! I got my key to my car reprogrammed on Friday I had 1 off brand key and my 2 original Honda keys that came with the car. The person helping me told me the off brand key was very weird and he was having trouble reprogramming my car but ended up working. He told me multiple times he was having trouble. It works fine after about an hour I leave they do not advise me to do anything else other then have a good day. Saturday morning not 1 of my keys will turn my car on I call and leave a voicemail. I get a call back a few hours later from a very rude man who wouldn't even listen to me tell me "from my experience it's not our fault you brought your own keys" if he would've programmed it he would've had me drive off with each car separately to ensure they all work separately and I would have to keep paying them to reprogram it because it's not their fault but I was never told that. He told me it's my battery for sure when I have had the battery checked everything checked and working fine and they would not be helping me at all unless I pay them to do the same exact thing again. Chances are that the car you drive uses transponder keys. They are extremely expensive to have duplicates made at the dealership. I mean, ridiculously crazy expensive. You would think that they are being hand forged by the Dark Lord Sauron himself in Mount Doom. Do yourself a huge favor and go here instead. Transponder keys are different from the ignition keys of old. The following is a highly technical explanation of how they work: When the key is inserted into the ignition and turned, the car's engine control unit (ECU) asks the key "hey man, do I know you?", and only if the key correctly answers back "you know you do" Will the ECU then say "all right all right all right" and disarm the immobiliser. So now you know why they are so expensive. I had two keys made here. The first was a Honda key with a broken shell (the shank had actually completely separated from the plastic housing). This required a new "shell" and a new laser cut shank (as the old one was warn). The chip and other components were fine and were just transferred to the new shell. This was about $40 (a fraction of what the dealer would have charged) and the replacement shell is much more durable with a lifetime guarantee. The second was an entirely new "spare" key with chip. This one was cut and programmed by the tech at KeySmart and then checked to verify that it worked correctly. This was about $60 (also a fraction of what the dealership would have charged). So if you want your ECU to say "all right all right all right" then you should be key smart and go to KeySmart! Yeah, they probably saved me over $200 on this visit! read more

I lost one of the proximity keys to my car, which is also a security key, I ordered the proximity remote and blank key online (ebay) and most local locksmiths wanted to charge me between $120 & $200 to simply cut the security key and program the proximity remote to my car. I bought some keys off of eBay for my 2013 VW Jetta. They laser cut my keys but were unable to program them. I called around but no one else seemed to be able to cut/program VW keys. I needed to get a spare key cut for my Lotus Evora. Since there are no Lotus dealers in the Sacramento area, it was suggested on a forum to contact Jaguar dealers, since the keys used in the Evora were also used in previous-generation Jags. I contacted Niello Jaguar, and they wouldn't cut my key, but they did turn me on to KeySmart. After making an initial call to KeySmart to verify that they could cut the key, I drove out there with the blank in hand. I didn't catch the guy's name that helped me, but after about 5 minutes, he came out with the cut key and had me test it. Worked great on the door and ignition. Excellent customer service! They accused me of being argumentative when I was asking why they quoted me a price of $135 six months ago and now it's $400 for the same key. Their specialty is in keyless entry automotive remote programming. They can program any remote. At first I was a bit irritated when I walked in cause there is no google listing for them and there phone system is not functioning properly. Option number 3 for location and hrs does not work. Plus the yelp listed address is wrong. I to leave them this and they said they have tried to change it. Then they programmed my remote and told me it was on the house I was shocked! I am very impressed with the level of professionalism and expertise at Key Smart. I recently went to them for a new key less remote for my 2000 Corvette. They went out of their way to track one down and order it. They did their magic with a little machine that adjusted it to match the settings on my car. Called around to have a duplicate transponder key made for my 2008 Dodge RAm only to get run around from a variety of locksmiths as to charges (travel, hourly etc.). Dealer wanted $125 to re program. I got a great quote for two keys to be cut and programmed from blanks I purchased on Amazon if I brought the vehicle to their office. I did that and after about 30 minutes of trying, Jeremy said my keys read in his programmer but the car would not accept them. He then tried two of his keys and they worked. He spent over an hour graciously resolving the issues and giving me a big discount over the normal prices of the keys (and even then, Key Smart's normal price was much lower than other quotes I got). Jeremy also showed me how to program my own keys if I purchased more. Before I went in I spoke with Valerie and she was very prompt about getting back to me on the phone. My electron key FOB was not opening or closing the car by remote. I changed the battery, checked the fuses, and still no luck. I called a volkswagon mechanic and he recommended I try Keysmart, because the dealership could cost a lot more. I read their yelp reviews and was not satisfied with the $146.00 I was quoted from a local volkswagon dealership to diagnose the car. I emailed KeySmart about my electronic Key problems for my 2010 Volkswagon bug . My email was answered within 24 hours ( and on weekend!!) stating to bring in the key to check it out. I was able to get over to the office a few days later, an hand over my key. In less than 15 minutes, the "volkswagon" guy, a very tall young man, had made me a dummy key AND reprogrammed my car. The key wouldn't run the car but would help if I ever needed to re-program again on my own. Problem solved!! I just wanted to say a HUGE thank you to the staff at KeySmart, everyone in the office was so nice, and professional-- you have this customer for life. When I fist called KeySmart on the phone they seemed nice. So I went to check them out and have my Mazda transponder programmed . When I got there they were not as nice nor as reasonable as on the phone, I asked them a couple of questions I know the answers to so I could check their knowledge. A wrong answer to the key question turned them very rude. I suggest you try someone else. I went to the Dealer to get it done. Yest it cost me a little $40 more, but In addition to getting my key programmed I got a car wash, vacuum and an entire car checkout for the same price. And they were very courteous. If you want a great locksmith for I have had great happiness with Wayne's Locksmith of Placerville, the also do Sacramento and very reasonable.Very happy now! read more

I just called the 855 888 5397 and spoke to an employee named Dustin and let me say this, he is just plain rude and helpless. I called to get information about how I can get my key fixed because it wasn't working properly and was informed that the key was ordered through Key Smart. I asked him is there anyway I can get a hold of the work order and he said no they can't do that. My second question was if he can help me figure out where the key was ordered and kept repeating that BMW would know all of this when there are how many dealers located across California? After a few seconds he goes quite and asks "is there anything else?" I replied no not with this kind of customer service. Not even a simple let me check my computer to help narrow down the search.
