When he came out of the back after several minutes (which I guess was for show), he quoted me a price of $45 for a single key because, he said, it was a safe deposit key. When I tried to ask why it was so expensive and whether that was an industry standard, he became defensive and said, "That's what I charge.", handing me back the key. I went to 2 other places. One was $15. Another was $7.50. I got it made for $7.50 at Brothers Lock and Safe, in Edison, an 84% discount from the Firstline price. Draw your own conclusions. The representative I was assigned was completely unprofessional. He didn't let me know that it wasn't guaranteed I would get in and tried two ways to open the door. He only said that the third way would cause damage to the door. I am renting so obviously, this was not possible. After I paid a ridiculous amount of money for NOT getting into my apartment, I ended up making a trip to grab my spare key. Once I returned, I found the door was jammed and not even my spare key could open it. Clearly, the door was damaged by the locksmith and when I had a maintenance team help me, we found that the box strike plate was completely dented. In addition, a lot of paint was chipped off the door, and there's now a gap even when the door is fully closed. So, I paid an astronomical price for having my door damaged, which my building had to fix themselves, in addition to not having my problem resolved. The receipt states that I paid on the basis of being fully satisfied with the service which is evidently NOT the case. Avoid to salvage your bank account and your mental health.

We have had issues with car key FOBs and both times the replacements have worked great. I recently had an issue with the front door lock and key. The key would not unlock the door. I am with spreadsheets and paperwork but terrible with household repairs. The older gentleman patiently explained how to remove lock from the door and then after the repair was completed how to install it back. It actually worked after I installed after the repair. The prices are very fair
