Opening night! Decided it was the perfect place to celebrate my birthday with a few friends. Performers are absolutely amazing. Cannot say enough. They were full of energy and so much talent! They just go go go, and i love that they have 3 performers to rotate out and keep the show from stopping. My girlfriend requested a birthday song for me and I had to go up on stage for it. Funny and raunchy, but not too over the top. Although I did threaten to kill her anyways. ;) The reason I rated 4 stars was for service. Actually, I'd knock them to a 2 if i were reviewing service alone. I realize it was opening night, but service was so incredibly slow. Also, come on guys. If you see a few ladies coming up to the door, open it up. Welcome us. Three men checking ID and not a single one opened the door for any of us. This was actually a topic of conversation at our table. It made that much of an impression. Kinda wish there was a dance floor, but i think they could easily remedy that by pushing back a few tables. Seems like we weren't the only ones thinking that either. Most people were dancing in their seats or in the aisles. Be aware that there's no food! We started starving and that's what finally drew me out the door. I read on Seattle reviews something about them allowing food in?? I'm not sure about that, but it would be awesome if that's true. Had a great first time here! $5 cover charge, which I thought was pretty decent for a weekend night! We reserved a table ahead of time and got seated very quickly in the bar area, which was nice because we could walk over and get drinks with no problems. The show itself was SO amazing! We went to see the Dueling Piano's. They controlled the energy of the room and I ended up losing my voice by the end of the night because I was singing along to everything. The two performers (they switched out a lot throughout the whole show, which was fine!) played off each other well. You have to pay for song requests, which we didn't do. I didn't buy any drinks, so all I spent that night was $5 for a fantastic show and a great time with friends. I would reserve your table ahead of time because the standing room fills up really quickly. I'll be back again, and hopefully soon to see another show!! read more

To be honest, this is a biased and discriminatory piano bar. The music is fun and the drinks are descent but if your a male, you'd better sit down on your hands and just pay for the drinks. My wife thought the music was fun and wanted to dance but I was literally instructed by the bouncers (who also snubbed other male patrons) to go sit down. I wasn't drunk or rambunctious and I hadn't even stepped 2 feet away from my seat. I actually felt discriminated. The only male that was allowed to dance was a male of same gender attraction that one of the piano players kept winking at and gave the bouncers the "ok" to let him meander. Had a blast last Thursday for ladies night! We made a Rez online for our rather large group. The bartender was hilarious and really cool! My wife loves piano bars, so when she found out one was opening a few blocks away from our home, I knew we were going to go. I am so glad we did. The three piano players we saw on Friday the 21st were all talented. But the 2 dudes rocked like I've never seen before. I mean, on top of the rock ballad classics, they did some Eminem, Dr. Dre, and were all out in the audience. One of the guys covered ACDC's Thunderstruck. Yeah. Thunderstruck on the piano. It was loud, it was fun, it was funny, and if you're a single guy, I feel obligated to tell you that the audience was 75% female. Hard to beat. read more

I am so dissapointed in the way Keys on Main handled my VIP RESERVATION. I paid to have our party of between 20 to 50 up by the stand, however upon entry we were told they oversold space and we....my party was inconvenient. I said wow, you just failed customer service 101. Bottom line, when you ask someone to pay for something and you do not deliver that is extremely poor customer service. Thank goodness piano players were good. I received an automated email from Keys this asking how our night was. That was at 8 am this morning. I gave them my honest feedback, so of course no response yet. Hmmm So when you have the attitude that you are the one to beat, be careful its a long fall from the top. This place is a gem. The pianists are so funny and talented, which makes for an awesome vibe at the bar. The cocktails were nothing to write home about, but if you're just drinking beer or something simple there's nothing to complain about. Wow! What a great time, these guys are TALENTED. A fun way to spend the evening, waitress was very attentive to our table and the music, WOW. They literally play anything, I was blown away when they got a request for Dr. Dre and was able to kill it. They also brought out an electric guitar when they covered Journey --- bonus points! I am sure this place is loads of fun to actually go to. I really hate giving bad reviews but this just stuck with me. I have been trying to make a reservation for MONTHS here to my sisters birthday party for a group of 16+ people. The only option available was to do this online, which is convenient and all but I called 3 or 4 times and left a VM each time, at lest once a week for weeks and NEVER ONCE did I receive a call back!! So I resorted to making the reservation online (which also included a note asking for a call back due to questions i had) in which i received an email back with very general info on any reservation (when to show up etc.. ) Still i received no call. Great atmosphere on a Friday or Saturday evening. Friday's are a little quieter than Saturday's. If you're a little tired of the typical club scene come here. The pianists are super funny and entertaining. So the more money you put on the song, the more likely it will be played next. We had a good time on a Friday night. The cover was $5 a person and they played a good mix of songs. I love this place!! I always have a really great time, and it makes me sad to see other negative review. They are a piano bar that works on a monetary system. You request a song and depending on how much you give them determines when your song is paid. When I pay $5 it takes some time to hear my song, but that's the game. It's actually really fun! I love slamming down a few extra dollars that the crowd helped get together to stop hearing a song. The pianists are awesome and I love that you can check online to see the schedule. This lets you know when to come in to either see the other pianists that they offer OR you can go when your favorite is playing. They are so SUPER knowledgeable and can play anything. If you're wanting to go out for a girls night or just with friends, this is the place to go! I highly recommend it. Went to Keys on Main for the first time last night for New Years Eve. Man....those piano players are so amazingly talented!! Truly entertaining. A bit raunchy for my taste, but I am not your average bar frequenter. In fact, I think it was my first time paying for drinks at a bar in 20 years. Haha! About the drinks. I am a super lightweight and one drink usually is enough for me. But here I had two drinks at $9 each (not sure if that is normal), and didn't even have a slight buzz. I ordered a Moscow Mule and it came in a 16 oz beer glass instead of an 8-10 oz copper cup. And I don't think they doubled the shots. Anyway, next time I wouldn't pay to reserve my seat, there were plenty of open seats and I would just get a glass of wine instead of a mixed drink. This place is closer to something you find in New Orleans (younger, but just as talented) versus something you might have seen on a Carnival Cruise. Gifted pianists and great entertainers. Besides traditional dueling ballads (think Devil went down to Georgia), we were stunned to see guitars and hear everything from Cher to Dr Dre covers. You'll be hard pressed to find quality nightlife in Tacoma, so when I heard there was a piano bar I had to check it out! $5 cover... okay, just about every bar here has a cover so I guess I shouldn't be surprised. The musicians are talented, the ambience is cute, the stage is small, and the pianists quit playing the minute the paid requests stop coming in. The bar shuts down too. I was there last Thursday with a group celebrating one of my girlfriend's birthday. We were often requesting songs with minimum $5 tips to be played by the duet pianists. One of my girlfriends even bought the two pianists a shot each of Jameson. We were all having a good time until we started noticing it was taking time for our songs to play and instead the songs requested by a group at another table were taking precedence. I asked the long haired pianist why our songs were not being played and it seemed they were only playing the requests made by the group at the other table. The rude pianists said "well maybe because their tip is $10 to our $5". We may have only been giving $5 tips with requests but they were multiple. I'm almost certain that our group tipped at least $100 if not more. I was shocked and stepped outside and when I came back in, he didn't even apologize for being rude. Although I know some customers may tip in the $20s or $50s, there are no signs that says it is mandatory to tip. No signs that says the tip must be a minimum or maximum amount. A tip is for gratitude, not an expectation. I liked everything about Keys on Main, including the atmosphere. But giving a horrible review to the long haired pianist -- It's a boo for him from me. One of my favorite places around. I visited keys on main first in August when I visited my best friend. She asked me to come to a dualing piano bar, to which I rolled my eyes. I wanted to have fun! This sounded drab. But I am so glad we went because it was hysterical! Now that I live in the area, I brought my husband for the first time last weekend. The pianists are hysterical, finding ways to embrace the crowd so it's more than just playing requests. I sang, I danced, I laughed hysterically. They are all great sports there, because I'm sure playing Toxic just makes their souls bleed. The talent is extraordinary and this place is definetely somewhere to check out! I came here for a bachelorette party and had a great time! They really put on a good show! I used to work next to the dueling piano bar in Las Vegas (NY, NY casino), Keys on Main was just like it! We were seated in the vip area that our group paid extra for. The cocktail waitresses was not fast by any means. She came back THREE times without a bud light that was ordered. On Thursday 3/2 my boyfriend made reservations for Saturday 3/4, VIP seating which cost $10 which was paid at the time of making the reservation. He got a confirmation email and all. When we arrive they cannot find our reservation. We show them the confirmation email and the best they can do is refund our VIP seating charge. They then tell us we can stand at the bar and we might get a seat once the music starts. My boyfriend made this reservation because I'm 8 months pregnant and I wanted a fun night out before we take on the responsibility of our first child.
