Not for the kids! But if you have any kind of sense of humor you will have an absolutely great time. Alcohol is served (i dont drink) and its bring your own food (which is probably the coolest concept ive come across, uber eats is your friend plus a couple of close grab and go spots). But the two dueling pianos and the concept of captialistic requests make this show an absolute hit. The range of the entertainers is mind boggling hearing them play everything from dr dre to pleading inbetween verses of frozen for someone to put down a higher cost request to make it stop. You cant help but laugh and have a good time. Whether youre in a group or on a date night the setup and stage and sound and commentary inbetween requests will keep you entertained. These guys are a true gem of tacoma and you should check out the show. read more

They only play your request based on how big your tip is that accompanies your request slip. We were coached by the waitress as we hadn't been there before.We put our requests on the piano and they were never played after 1.5 hours. So, we left. They still got our money, $56 dollars, left on the piano. We will not be back. And there was a $10/ head cover charge. Very tacky way to do business. read more

Fun place to hang out on either a Thursday, Friday, or Saturday night. For $10 per person, there is no limit of how many people you can bring. Although if you have a huge party of people, it is recommended to rent out their party deck in the back. For each ticket, it is recommended you come 1 hour before the show starts to get the best seats. Otherwise, if you arrive after 9 pm when the show starts, you will end up standing by the bar until a table is available for you. The concept of this is simple. Each table gets a stack of cards that you fill out with your name and your two song choices. In order for you to get your song to play next, you have to donate a high amount. Generally $20s are what gets you to play next. However, lets say you put $20 down on your song. It plays, but someone puts $21 during your song. They will stop playing and play the $21 song. If someone puts $30 while your song gets played, that song will be played after your song is finished. So do not request sad sappy songs. Those will be shut down IMMEDIATELY. Each pianist's genre knowledge is unlimited. They even played BTS when i visited. You get to pick which pianist you want to get to play your card. Keep in mind though that it rotates between 4 piano players but there are always 2 at a time up on stage. For your own added entertainment, you get to drink beer, wine, and cocktails during the show. The prices arent listed on the menu, so watch how much you drink. For two cocktails for two people, we ended up spending $75 total. This didnt include the tip. Do note, the waitresses work their a's off all night tending to all the drunk people and making sure that people get their drinks, so be sure to tip them! Keys on Main is one of the best places in downtown Tacoma to take a friend out and celebrate weather that be a birthday, a work promotion or just life in general ! This could also be an EPIC date night spot ! It gets crowded and you'll have to push through people dancing to get to the restroom but if you don't mind that so much, it's a fun night of entertainment. They always have two performers who both play piano and sing... YOU, the audience members, request the songs !! A lot of people seem to request rap and hip hop songs but you'll hear a little bit of everything throughout the evening. They always do at least one Disney song (this last time it was "You're Welcome" from Moana), a little bit of pop and throwback hits too ! I've been to this piano bar 3 times now and I love it more and more each time I go ! I've taken friends on their birthdays the last two visits and it's been a blast ! They don't sell food but the drinks at the bar are pretty good. This time I got me and my friend "grape Popsicle" shots which featured a grape vodka and they were delicious ! On the spendy side (like $25 for two with a small tip for the bartender included) but I'd say it was well worth it still ! If you're a lady try to come here on a Thursday night as that's ladies night and you can gets drinks much cheaper like $4 !! Went with a group of eight for NYE. We were seated and ordered a couple of bottles of wine - the service was wonderful, and we tipped (30%). Most of us have been to dueling piano shows - and I have been to this venue in the past. Our group filled out cards and attached $20 to each (five were on piano before players sat down). They played one of my songs (sweet caroline) and I filled out two more request with the obligatory $20 on each, as did a couple more of our party. They never played another one - works out to about $200 for them to play one song. The room was more than half 20's & 30's of age, but 95% of the music was just for them - loud rap on a bad sound system is a bad business model. There are other issues (1) we sat next to the stage and the sound system was awful - no separation of piano / voice or adjustments to mid/bass, (2) the piano's were in a state of uncare as keys were sticking down - sometimes three at a time. It was disappointing to say the least and (3) the continuous hawking for people to put money on the suggestion cards was irritating as the players didn't play them anyway. Constantly begging for more money when they weren't playing the ones already paid for is a really bad look. We won't be back. read more

I heard about Keys on Main from a coworker and decided to check it out. We went on Saturday evening and I tried making reservations online prior but they were sold out. So we got there around 8pm and they were able to accommodate us with a table at the bar area and cover was only $10/person. We were seated slightly higher than the rest of the crowd, so we were able to people watch before the show and see everything during. They don't offer food, but serve alcohol and have a variety of signature drinks. Once the artists got on stage, they introduced themselves and how the process works. At every table there are small notecard sized papers where you write your two requests, the name of who it's dedicated as well as if you're there for a special occasion. Along with your sheet of paper, a tip is to be included, which starts at $20. It can be lower, but they play songs first based on the tip amount. If there's a song you don't like being played, you can tip $1 extra (song was $20, you tip $21) and they'll stop that song and move onto yours. You then take that card and tip and place it on top of one of the artists pianos. An example we had this evening, was someone requested a Christmas song and some people in the crowd thought it was too early for a Christmas song as Thanksgiving hasn't come so they tipped $70 to stop the song... then the original requesters tipped $90 to have them replay it. It made for good fun and got the crowd going. The artists also banter with the crowd and will comment on the song choice. Overall, a really good atmosphere and laid back vibe. Came into Keys on Main on Friday June 9th with 2 other couples, my husband and I. First and foremost, no food options, so eat before you come! Or you can order food in. We ordered from the Forum. Piano players were great, and played all the songs we requested. Our server Maddie, was wonderful. Gave us wonderful drink suggestions and super friendly. Ordering from the bar was an entirely different story. We had a bartender named Desarae, who was unprofessional, smoking her vape behind the bar, and couldn't get to the group of guys behind us quick enough. The cocktails were poorly made, and super sugary. We were better off ordering through our server and having the gentleman make the drinks. I'd suggest finding friendly, bubbly, bartenders to work behind your bar. read more

It's a lot of fun! The drinks are about $15 each. No food bit you can have food delivered. We walked up one block to a great restaurant and had the most delicious burgers. The place has lots of tables and anybtavles would be good enough to easily see and participate. We reserved the VIP section which is the most comfortable seating in the house. This place is great and they're very popular! I went to celebrate someone's birthday by going to the dualing pianos. For me it was the coolest thing. Here's how that works: at your table you can fill out a request form. You get your first and second choices. When you bring your request to the piano at the front, you include the tip. This is key: the bigger the tip, the sooner they play your song! You can submit song requests at anytime. Also important to note, if you want them to stop playing a song, give them a big tip! I saw it happen! If you want to be nostalgic and hear your favorite N'sync song, or hear Ariana Grande's most recent hit, you just have to request it. Also, they have a bar with alcohol. read more

We've gone to Keys on Main a few times for birthdays and date nights, and recently for our joint bachelor and bachelorette. We always have such a great time! You can order food to be delivered to Keys. There are two sections you can reserve ahead of time for VIP, great for celebration with friends! Piano players are great, and so entertaining! All the servers and bartenders are so friendly and bubbly, Deserae is my favorite!! She is so helpful, bubbly and gives great drink recommendations. First time we heard about this place was at the Tumwater Brewfest this last year (2019), they hired a couple of the pianist from here to preform there. It was excellent and they were super funny and very talented. From that day my wife really wanted to visit here. For a quick TLDR: We loved it!! My best description of the night is its a live, interactive, jukebox. At every table there are a pile of request sheets, this was our first time so we just filled out a bunch of them and put up chump change to get them played. We quickly learned you need to throw down some cash if you want to hear your song. Most people threw about $20 up there with their requests and they were played within the first couple of hours, some people went much higher and some went lower. If you throw $10-$30 up you will probably hear your song before midnight. But if you decide to grab a drink and just listen you could have a ton of fun also!! The tables are a little tight, and I think the one giant flaw of this place is not having a dance floor. They play a lot of songs and you will know most of them, but when they pull out a dope song all you want to do is get up and dance, but instead you are limited to your very small seat area. Overall it was a ton of fun. The drink I had was pretty good, it was an old fashion, but the sugar settled to the bottom so it just tasted of whiskey with a strong bitters, sugar taste on the final sip. I would recommend this place for sure. Next time around I am going to bring $60, the plan will be to split the cash between my wife and I and throw $20ish per song. I think that is your safest bet. Honestly I had fun without drinking so I probably wouldnt grab anything next time. Oh and I said this on a different review and I will say it here. This was the first time I have visited a Keys on Main, and I visited with a party of 6. The staff was very friendly and helpful. The bartender did a fantastic job making delicious drinks quickly. The tables were clean and well bussed by the staff, but the best part is truly the piano players. They did a FANTASTIC job playing music from every genre. From country to classic rock, and hip hop to rat pack, the pianists didn't miss a beat. They were also witty and charming toward the crowd and created a fun and rowdy environment. This place was not what I had expected and it was surprisingly fun! We got here about 10ish and it was completely crowded. Drinks were hard to come by but seats were even harder; we ran and grabbed a table as a group was leaving. Drink prices were pretty standard and service was fairly fast. The piano players were in the front and randomly grabbed someone from the crowd to participate - whether it was for a birthday or an anniversary, people were more than willing to come up for some fun. At one point, a 3rd piano player jumped on top of the piano and was dancing and singing. It was very entertaining! Around 1130, the place started to die down. I guess it's safe to say this is the go to spot to pregame before the club! I believe a friend is planning to have her party here next week so I will be back soon! read more

Any chance I get I'll be here! The fishbowl cocktail was so good, tasted almost like a peach ring, the bucket cocktail was delicious, the Jell-O shots were yummy too. My friend is a regular and we come for her birthday and now I know we're I'm going to spend mine. Pro tip reserve a table in advance to get close seating. Also bring cash to make song requests. This place goes ABOVE and beyond in customer service. While out drinking with my friend I dropped my purse. I didn't realize it at the time but I had actually dumped half the contents. It wasn't until the next day that I realized it and begin to frantically call everywhere I had been the night before. Not only did they have the contents of my purse but they MAILED them to me since I don't live in Tacoma. They didn't even charge me for it. This review is long overdue as my first experience was earlier this year during the summer. I can't recall much and don't really have to because their fish bowl drinks were what got me going crazy! I have never heard of it and perhaps there are different restaurants and bars that serve such thing but it was really fun to watch how it was made and how big it was! I mean, I can drink quite a bit and it was delicious! I was hesitant whether to order another or not. The piano duet "battle"? thing was fun to watch. I've always passed by this place as I was living in Downtown Tacoma for a year but never had the right company to come here with. When I arrived, it was pretty packed on a weekend so it was disappointing to sit behind a column while the two gentlemen were battling off on the pianos and some other lady was singing in the center. They played some fun stuff like Bohemian Rhapsody and Sweet Caroline but then they got into Slim Shady and Low, etc which was fun too but not my cup of tea, I appreciated the skill though. Located on Pacific Avenue, this piano bar is the place to go to chill and drink with some friends while listening to some dope tunes. This place is open Thursdays to Sundays from 8pm and closes at 1am, it's usually more packed on Fridays and Saturdays after 10. It's usually free to get in but some nights there's a cover fee of $5 or so when there's a special event going on. They have a great bar, cocktails cost about $8 each so it's average. I usually order a Midori sour or just take some shots because I'm about that life. Check out their menu for their shot bombs, that always gets the party started! There's a lot of tables available for groups and such all facing towards the main stage where there are two grand pianos face to face. The pianists take requests for tips so you can just write down the song of your choice on a paper and bring it up to them. They would always play the jams on point and it hyped up the whole crowd; they even let you dance on the stage! It's always a good time here at Keys On Main! It's a popular spot in Tacoma, I usually always run into people I know from work just because it's the place to be! I think it goes without saying that the performers have such exceptional musical talents but what's more is that they're also so witty! The things that happen on stage seem like unrehearsed improvisation and it's what makes them true entertainers. They can play all songs, old and new alike, from all different genres. My husband and I love coming here. We were there this past Friday. We thoroughly enjoyed every performer. When one pianist got up and started rapping an Eminem song.. we were surprised. Pianists can rap?! Lol. We enjoyed all the performers but we especially liked Zack for his powerful vocals. When my husband got called up on stage to do a birthday song and they started playing "It's raining men" and asking him to shake his butt, I nearly passed out laughing. I wont draw out the reasons I and my friends will never book a party here in the future but here is the short of it: Pros: the pianists are very talented. They are entertainers, and if you want some cheeky good time where money talks this is the place for you. Cons: the server's are slow (upwards of 30-40 minutes for a $10 vodka and redbull) they don't serve any kind of food, the music will leave your ears ringing at the end of the night, your $20,30,40 dollar song may actually never be played, there's cover to get in before you ever put money down on a song, and it was dead by 1am. Entertainer, by the name of Luke, was handed one or our songs that already was played earlier in the night. Politely telling him you're taking your request back doesn't fly. Now, consider the money you spend to ask for a song a "tip" , with the intention that the song may never be played. If you're okay with that, continue booking your parties here. Karaoke DJ's do a better job.... I kinda felt like us asking to take our request back since the song(s) had already been played should have been a no-brainer.. but they will not allow it, just be forewarned. read more

SO much fun here! I was hesitant to come to a piano bar thinking it couldn't be that much fun to watch people play pianos but it genuinely blew me away. Fun atmosphere, really awesome performers and the drinks honestly weren't that expensive. We paid $4-6 for each beer. The bartenders were really nice but the waitresses that walk around were all snotty and rude. The performers were hilarious - the one with the long hair is like the energizer bunny, so much energy for one human.
