I am warning you: DO NOT go to Dr. Oscar Rodriguezat RHN. I was mistreated and overtreated by…read moreRodriguez, who diagnosed me as having 14 cavities when I only had two. I endured four separate appointments over the course of three months that were filled with Novocain shots and drilling - all to do unnecessary work on healthy, virgin teeth. I eventually listened to my bad feeling about Rodriguez and drove five hours to see my old dentist. He looked at my x-rays, my mouth, and couldn't believe that Rodriguez was drilling into healthy teeth that didn't need work. I've been in pain for three months and gaps have formed between molars because of Rodriguez's unnecessary work. It is painful to eat on the left side of my mouth and consuming hot & cold foods and liquids are almost unbearable. There's a good chance that this pain won't ever go away. My old dentist thinks Rodriguez may have caused permanent nerve damage, sensitivity, and bone damage - all by performing unnecessary work on healthy teeth. Dentists like Rodriguez receive a commission on the work they perform, so it is beneficial $$ for them to overtreat. Pain aside, he charged TRICARE, my military insurance that TAX PAYER money funds, $4,000 while I also paid over $300 out of pocket. This man also works at Dr. Guzman's office by Winn Dixie so BEWARE!!!

He was aloof and seemed uncaring at almost every visit, but he was "the best on the island," so I went with him As my OB. About 2 months before my due date, I developed a hard spot in my breast. I told Dr. Peterson about it and his reply was "It's your milk coming in." He didn't look at the lump or even touch it! As a first time mom, I figured the "best doctor" knew what he was talking about. At each consequent visit for 2 months, I mentioned it to the doctor and nurse, and always got the same response. A few weeks before giving birth, I awoke with a terrible pain in my side. After a visit from EMS, I decided to forego the ER (pain had subsided) and call Dr. Peterson the next day. I was told it was the positioning of the baby. Fast forward... I gave birth, but still had the lump in my breast and pain in my side. For 2 days, the pain continued until at the urging of the neonatal nurse, an ultrasound was ordered. After a battery of scans, it was discovered that the lump in my breast was breast cancer that had metastasized to my liver, spine, and hip. The only thing I can remember Dr. Peterson (who became very caring at that point) saying was "Pregnant women don't get cancer." over and over. Well obviously they do, and after doing research, I read 1 in 3000 are diagnosed. It would've taken a few minutes, if not seconds, to check the lump. I don't know what would have been done differently and how it would have affected my pregnancy, but I do think that had Dr. Peterson showed even a little bit of concern, the cancer could have been found earlier and perhaps not have spread. Over a year later, I am still undergoing treatment for the cancer that has now spread to my brain. I realize mine is a special case that most women will not experience, but if you are looking for a doctor who will listen to and respond to your concerns, seek another doctor!

I am very set in my ways and a picky eater, Allison worked tirelessly with me to find foods that she could recommend and that I would agree to eat. Her knowledge and patience are unmatched. After 6 months I went from 245# to 205# lean and healthy. I completed a tough mudder at age 47, and continue to work out daily. This was 6 years ago today I remain 205# and healthy, I was able to get off blood pressure and Diabetes medications. I am a physician and would recommend Allison to anyone, in fact I have recommended her to my family and patients all with similar results to mine. 100% recommended If you are looking to lose weight, just be a more healthy version of yourself or any health problems. The clinic here is well kept and big enough to provide great service to the veterans, active duty and dependents of the lower keys. It provides pharmacy, lab, radiology, medical and dental services as well as a place to park for those associated with the military and not on island time year round (albeit far from the Southermost point entertainment). It is a combination of the VA health clinic and the branch health clinic of Naval Hospital Jacksonville. The two exist together and work together to provide service to both sets of patients (i.e. here, VA patients can have their prescriptions filled at the branch health clinic pharmacy on site).
