I have worked in several residential settings throughout my career: A high school boarding school, college dormitories, and group homes for people with severe mental illness. I know there are many challenges in these types of settings, but from our experience with Sea Bluffs, we (my mom, sister and I) feel like every staff experience we have had in the last year-and-a-half has been top notch. We feel like everyone that works regularly with my mom on the Care Team is so kind, thoughtful, and anticipatory of her needs etc., and we soooo appreciate it. Also the maintenance staff has been very responsive, kind and respectful in all of their interactions, and the dining staff is always wonderful! Some stand outs to me, for what it's worth are Donna, Christine, Carmen, Jay, and Martha. Again, I think everyone's great, but these folks have consistently been excellent. And Jay is literally everywhere all at once :) I truly don't know how Donna does what she does, she has been a phenomenal presence since she was hired shortly after my mom arrived here. Always smiling, always helpful, an excellent communicator, always good at problem solving, always swift acting, always going above and beyond. She is a treasure! And of course with the two of you at the helm of overseeing all the hiring and training and culture building, I'd like to send along my gratitude to the two of you as well! Thanks for everything!

Steve Orta said he had a care giver by the name of Sonia Lenville lined up to arrive at our house today at 8:00AM. I called him at 8:15 and advised him Sonia had not yet shown up. He tried calling her, but no answer. Steve then called and said he would work to find someone else. My wife had knee surgery yesterday, and I had a funeral to attend today. I was running out of time On a very stressful day. Steve lives very close to us, and I asked if he would come until he found a replacement. That is the last I heard from Steve. I was left to sort out his mess with this very unreliable Sonia on my own. I would steer clear of Steve, Sonia Lenville and Healthy at Home. They are a 3-ring circus.

So it was very difficult for me to visit him often. That's where Angel On My Shoulder comes in. They coordinated with Wayne's doctors and the facility outstandingly. I never had to worry. They carefully monitored him from making sure he had enough shirts to changes in his diet. They would visit Wayne twice a week and take him for walks around the facility. All the coordinators at Angel On My Shoulder have excellent bedside manners. Just talk to Carol for five minutes and you'll know what I mean. Home instead helped us work with his VA benefit so he could have someone come into his home to help him a few days a week. We chose Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Home Instead was so understanding and flexible working with my father until we had the perfect match for him. Linda became almost like a relative to our family because she was so caring and helpful. She helped my dad around the house, drove him to the store to shop and provided companionship! My father lived another 5 years after 90 and I believe Linda and Home Instead were a big part of him being able to enjoy his final years. Thank you Linda & Home Instead!

We started with Home Instead for our elderly parents who were coming out of the hospital. They do…read morea great job selling themselves as the caregiving company you'd want to have for anyone who needs help. Once we signed the agreement, it went to hell in a handbasket. They sent over people who had injuries themselves, so how could they help an 80-somenthing year old if they needed stability walking or getting out of bed or bathing??? They stressed the importance of having a care plan and we worked with them to develop said plan. However, the care givers did not refer to the plan, so the things that needed to happen, such as feeding and ensuring proper hydration, did not happen. Then, they took NO responsibility for the lack of following the plan and blamed our dementia-impaired mother! Our dad came home with a small drain bag that needed emptying twice a day. First, they said they wouldn't do it, then they said they would do it, then they said they wouldn't do it. It was like a yo-yo. This all happened within the afternoon he was coming home from the hospital. We immediately had to start looking for a caregiver who could do this for us. Tracy Patton, at Home Instead was contacted and we told her the services would be ending the following evening. We already had that in place as a possibility, but we called to confirm the ending of the services. Suffice to say, she was not happy, even though we discussed this at the beginning of the contract. They just couldn't give us the service we needed. Just to be vindictive, Tracy Patton called the fire department over to our parent's house at 10:15 pm, the same evening. The fire department knocked on the door and the current caregiver, Illia, said they were sleeping and wouldn't let them in. (Thank you, Illia. You did the right thing.) What kind of person does that to an elderly couple who just got home from the hospital? What kind of company hires and keeps someone like that on their payroll? Shame on Jim Kordenbrock, owner of Home Instead, to allow this to happen and keep this person in charge of their caregivers.

We found out they were charging Home nursing prices for a non nurse caregiver. the caregiver carried out medical tasks that she had no license for and then destroyed our personal log book.we caught it all on video and no one at the company has ever called to remedy the problem. they have the billing department making threats but no one at the top,if there is anyone?No one is Reaching out.Despite multiple calls and complaints during the altercation,everyone lost their telephones.Months later they still can not pick up a telephone and ask what the hell happened!?!?!
