I tried to cash a check written to key bank they told me they can't cash checks over 1,500$. I asked them if I could open an account and deposit the check. They told me they would not open me an account for me and walked me out the front door. I'm a disabled and a person of color. Do not come to this branch unless you want to be treated like a criminal. I do not have an account here. This establishment did help me without much of a problem. I came in with a check drafted off of a business's account. They treated me like any other person. Pros: On site private security Private parking lot It was SOO quiet. Helped my anxiety a lot. Cons: Heavy traffic area I wish I got names, but I did not. I guess I was in a hurry. Even without an account, my business was completed I wasn't in there more than 5 minutes. I am highly pleased with this branch and if I got Key business, I will bring it in here. This branch was openly racist to my friend and colleague. NOT A SAFE SPACE FOR PEOPLE OF COLOR. She walked into the bank where there were 3 tellers and one personal banker. She took a seat in the waiting area and not one of them acknowledged her presence. After 30 Minutes had passed, she went up and asked to be helped and was told to take a seat by a man who said he would be with her in a few minutes in his office. She went and sat down. Note that he never asked her what she needed. After a few minutes of waiting in his office, two white people walked in. The same man that told my friend to wait in his office told these white people that they might have to wait a few minutes since he had to help my friend. He went into his office, asked my friend (FINALLY) what she came in for today, and she told him she was going to set up a business account. He told her that that would take a long time and that he needed to tell this white couple he could not help them. But then he just ends up helping them and doesn't come back to his office. My friend ended up waiting another 15 minutes in his office until she gave up, got up and left. Her needs were not considered. Her presence ignored. Her time not valued. I recommend you take your money elsewhere if this is the way they treat people. read more

Been a member for 5 years. They lost my debit card in the mail in October. So I called and requested a new one last Friday, and the lady said "Oh! Well let me go ahead and rush deliver that for you so it'll be here in 3-5 days! So sorry about that!!" I was thrilled! Checked my balance today and they stole $25 out of my account without even telling me. I'm fucking PISSED. I WILL be getting my money back and I WILL be talking to the branch manager about this and closing my account and going to BECU!!!!! read more

Terrible Terrible Bank. Promised a $500 reward to open an account and never honored it. Just ignored me when I followed up with the bank. Took visits to 3 branches to close the account as they didn't have enough cash ($8k!!). And during that time frame they charged me exorbitant fees of $30/month maintenance charge over 3 months. Just ridiculous. It really is a bank for gullible people. No idea why it exists and why people use it. read more

Worst bank ever. Making mistakes in over drafts fees always have to call them to put the money back and finally they admit to making that mistake. I took my nephew in to cash a check drawn on Key Bank that he got for babysitting at church. The check was for $17 and they said they charged a $7.50 fee because he was not a Key bank customer. Apparently this is a common practice among big evil banks. But that is some pretty shady banking if you ask me! read more

Out of date banking. My parents have used Key Bank, this branch in particular for almost 40 years. (They might have been a different company back then). I have been harassing my parents for some time to add me to their bank accounts (for emergencies). My parents agreed and the next time I had a weekday off, we decided to go. My mother has one person at this branch she trusts, she says everyone else is an idiot. The nice lady my mom knows sat us with a young lady to make this change. (With the serious issues my mother has had, I don't know why she didn't insist on the one person she trusts to make this change. ) We sit, explain what we need to do. The young lady begins the process. ID's out, no worries, keying away into the computer. About ten minutes later, while printing the paperwork, everything entered in the computer has vanished. We are told we'll need to fill out everything by hand. So the young lady begins to fill out forms by hand. ID's out again, chit chat and patiently wait. This young lady explained Key Banks computer system was the "old system" used by BofA, but they(BofA) got rid of it TEN YEARS AGO. At this point, I realized Key bank doesn't care about its customers. If it did, they would use a current computer system used by their banking peers, not some discarded outdated system. We left 45 minutes later, paperwork filled out by hand. Today they call and tell my mom they need information from my driver's license. You had it two times, once while keying my info, once while writing it out. This is unacceptable. Here's a comparison for you. Fourteen (yes 14) years ago, I took my mom to Chase and added her to my account. It took less than 10 minutes. Quick, painless, easy. Let this be an example for you. My parting statement...14 years ago Chase did something in 10 minutes that took Key Bank 45 minutes to partially complete. Key Bank, if you valued customers, you would have a computer system worthy of this century. read more

My boss will be too nice to post this, so I will go ahead. We have been trying to get online banking for our business account for what seems like forever. About every month I am listening to my boss talk to these people on the phone about how when we try to set it up, they tell us to call customer service. Over and over she gets passed back and forth between this branch and where ever the hell customer service is. The issue STILL IS NOT RESOLVED. ATTN MARY HICKS- GET IT TOGETHER. WHY IS MY EMPLOYER HAVING TO SPEND HOURS ON THE PHONE WITH YOU GUYS ABOUT THIS SITUATION!! Enough is enough!! She has proven she is on this account! TWICE She is been in your branch about this! This should NOT be this difficult! Is this how you treat your customers?? We are trying to avoid that STUPID $3 paper statement fee...and yet, YOU DON'T HELP. RIDICULOUS. This is so aggravating! Had to go here last Friday to cash a paycheck due to the one in White Center was robbed, they were really rude and I felt like I was putting them out to cash my check. They asked several questions like I stole the check or something, anyhow nothing like White Center Key Bank they are polar opposites! The girls there are really nice and polite. Not sure what was going on maybe they were extra busy due to the other being closed just the same I will drive a little further to find another key bank next time so I dont feel criminal.......... read more

I cannot speak negatively of Key Bank as a whole company but I can comment on the experience's my family has had at this local Burien branch. In all honestly the bank tellers, specifically Lamar and Celina, have always been friendly and helpful. Unfortunately though the leadership/manager (Mary) projects a sense of eliteness and annoyance to its everyday customer. On more than one occasion I've seen her sit at a teller stand but ignore all the customers waiting in line without at least smiling or address them with a reason for not being able to help or to comfort them that they will be helped shortly. One or even maybe two times I could excuse as possibly it being a busy or bad day. Sadly this is every time we have been inside the branch. Also, she is very difficult to get in contact with and does not follow up on commitments to communicate through email or phone calls. I would suggest banking elsewhere if anyone were to ask me sincerely. For the sake of the quality employees that do work there, hopefully some positive changes can be made in the near future. Literally just changing leadership or coaching it up could make the nesc changes to improve this branch, quality of work life for the employees who work there, and to help create a more approachable and respected customer experience. read more
