We went with the cheaper deal on Groupon. The duck boat was parked in front of a park. We got there early so there was no line. The boat was really clean and new looking. There was the captain and the narrator, both were dressed like pirates since the theme of this boat was a pirate ship. They were both friendly and informative; the narrator did a great job with hosting and telling jokes; keeping us awake. They drove us around town and pointed out different buildings and landmarks. The coolest part was when we drove from land into water! It made a big splash but we didn't get wet. We cruised by mansions and other boats. They did a great job with the tour and I'd definitely recommend it. Bring tip money.

So, I went for the next best opportunity and leaving my review on Yelp. It shouldn't take too long to realize, this is a must do tour. We love learning about the areas we visit, listen and learn authentic information of the area by passionate locals. Dani encompasses all of that and more. We had already visited the San Carlos Institute in Key West and gained information on the history of Cuba and the citizens escaping Castro and his regime. What a beautiful culture of food, music, dance, clothing, art they brought to the US. Do not eat before you come as you will miss out on the fabulous sampling of Cuban food & drink. There is enough food on this tour that you will not leave hungry. I won't restate all the offerings which you can see from reviews and the tour posting. We have never had Empanadas as good as today and that was just the start. I hope the area of Little Havana continues to thrive and many people experience it. I think it was a really good range of drinks, desserts, and food. Even though that coffee cup looks small, that's a full serving size and it was strong! I really really appreciate that this tour not only accommodated for vegetarians but also chose options for me that were realllllly good. Instead of the cubano, I had these fried plantain cups stuffed with veggies. They were SO good and seasoned well! And the spinach and cheese empanada was also amazing. They are indeed still at the temporary location at 12th & Ocean. The warm woman who answered the phone was a great help in directing me to their location once I got off the bus. For your $15, you get a simple map and an iPod with the tour info. I didn't find it difficult to use the iPod but felt the tour should really be more like an hour and half, if not more depending on how many pictures you take along the way. The tour states it can be done in an hour, ha! Only if you speed walk and don't take pictures. I also was scribbling down almost everything that was said as well as marking the locations on the map. I did wish the stops had been labeled on the simplified map. For instance, the first stop is the Amsterdam Hotel but if the counter woman had not told me it was the Versace Mansion, I probably would have kept going on Ocean until I found it. You are not given street addresses either, just landmarks and approximate street corners. Bringing a compass might be useful. Still, for the most part, I found every stop tour. As I said, I think it should be updated because one of the stops, the Coral Rock House was being torn down when I walked by. Once you're back in the shop, you hand over the equipment and get whatever ID or credit card you left behind to hold it. I suppose they don't want anyone to run off with their shabby earphones and much abused iPod. The shop has a lot of knick knacks and the usual assortment of postcards to buy. I thought about buying a pill box but really had no use for it. After touring the 12 or so stops, I thought I had became an expert on Art Deco! Or at least, actually noticing the colorful buildings and admiring them for an era long gone.

Had the opportunity to participate in a food tour in the Fort Lauderdale Historic District, with my…read morebrother and nine other people on a beautiful February late afternoon. All of us had a really great time. My brother purchased the tickets through Viator, at $120 per person for the 3 hour tour. Their website is really well done, with tickets being purchasable directly through it (eliminating the middleman costs, more to the provider). It is a family run business, with the owner (Cyndi) and her husband personally guiding us through a four-course meal, visiting these locally owned restaurants in a relaxed and casual manner. We started the tour right on-time, at the Museum of Discovery and Science. They have been doing this for about a year now, and what I came to realize is that they have been modifying all the consumer touchpoints to make it better for everyone (consumers, guides, and restaurants) involved. Where there were lulls in other tours I've taken, in this case, it was filled with education and (in the case of the Bryan Brothers House) a guided tour. Plus with the backdrop of the New River and city riverwalk, the mostly pedestrian traffic in the area, and very little walking we had to do, everything was pleasant and stress-less, even before we got to the most important thing (the food). Cindy is very passionate about the food that is being served, and wanted to make sure we were educated on the ownership and history of the places we visited. Her husband (originally from Italy) provided us commentary at breaks, and was our 'herder', making sure we were all going to the right spots. I thought we were a pleasant group, willing to try different things and following directions (relatively) well. In terms of the food, all of it was very good: from a classic Italian appetizer, to a decent fish dish, to a simple buy tasty dessert. Wine/beer could be purchased separately, and was easy to do since a couple of the stops had dedicated speakeasys that we were able to sit down at. Even though it was a Saturday early dinner rush, we always found space to sit as a group, and enjoy our food without rush. And in each place, the ownership/management made us and the tour feel very welcome. Cindy mentioned that for locals, this area is mainly known for the late night club scene, and not so much for the fine dining scene. I think Gastronomy City Tours is trying to help change that.

I went on a 3-day sailing with my husband to Nassau, Bahamas. We had a blast onboard. The Conquest…read moreis an older ship which doesn't have a lot of the newer bells and whistles. Embarkation- We embarked out of Miami and it was a mad house it reminds me of pre-pandemic. We arrived at our scheduled time with through screening. There was a lot of people on this cruise. Social distancing was a thing of the past. All of the Carnival people wore mask not so many of the cruisers. It was crowded and a bit confusing because groups of people were holding up the process. Even it was a bit hard to spot the porters to check-in your luggage with all the people standing around. The gangway is hot so take your time. Onboard/cruise- Once onboard we went right to our room 6348. Our room steward was Min. We only spoke to him twice because we didn't have any issues. We told min that we would like evening cleanings, some tp, a box fan, and 2 robes which we got the extra tp. He advised us that the fans would come from guest services. Unfortunately, I never received our robes. The bathrooms do not come with bar soap only shower gel in the shower which we used to wash our hands. Bathrooms use to come with some additional cups but I guess that is newer ships. Steakhouse- I love going to the steakhouse. I wish the servers were a bit understanding and even ask me how I want my steak seasoned. I do not put salt on my steaks I prefer garlic, onion, and back pepper on my steak. I wanted the salad with spinach with no salad dressing. Instead of the traditional salad dressing I wanted red wine vinegar and olive oil. Salad dressing has a ton of sodium which I am trying to avoid. It seem complicated to ask for red wine vinegar. I was able to get olive oil. Comedy Shows- Moni, was ok. I did not think she was funny. My husband love Alan C... I can't remember his last name. I really enjoyed Nery S.. something. Carnival misspelled his name on the sign. We never saw a server to order drinks but no biggie the show was only 30 mins. We ordered drinks before and after the show. Dining- We had Jeffery and Bada who were amazing! I can tell Jeffery has a passion to lip sing. The dining team was very friendly and accommodating. Excursion- We purchased the Balmoral Island Stingray excursion. Do not book this excursion! The 3 out of the 5 bathrooms were out of order. There was no running water in one of the bathrooms they just gave us hand sanitizer. That can not be hygienic! The did not serve Bahamian food or food to Carnival standard. Our burger patties were burnt and did not come with condiments (I.e., lettuce, tomato, honey mustard). One burger cost $15 and a small bag of chips is $5. You can pay with your card but can't tip the wait staff on your card. No need to worry they did not have enough wait staff to serve. I sent a complaint to Carnival Guest Services due to the substandard conditions. I assumed we can purchase one photo similar to what you can do on the ship. Unfortunately, the excursion required you to purchase all of the photos for $80. Disembarking- We purchased an excursion through Carnival Top Ten of Miami around 4pm on Sunday. We were supposed to receive luggage tags but did not get them. I called Guest Services and did not reach anyone. I swung by Guest Services and the line was looooonnnnngggg. My husband had to carry our heavy luggage downstairs. I love cruising so this will not make me stop. I hope this info provides fellow yelpers tips.

From the minute we entered the line to get on the ship it was a madhouse. I kept convincing my family that it was ok to forgo our payment and skip boarding altogether. Situation got worse once we got to the lido deck to get some lunch. The lines for the food were insane and the settings didn't look tidy. The crowd wasn't great as well. I couldn't be more unhappy in this setting and didn't know how to survive on the ship for the next four days. Luckily for me, the situation got better with each passing hour. Maybe my expectations were low and hence everything seemed better starting from there. We didn't dine at that lido deck at all for the rest of the cruise as they offer restaurant dining for dinner, breakfast and brunch. And on port days we had lunch at the islands. This cruise line stops at half moon cay which a tiny island owned by carnival. There is nothing much on the island except for around 5-6 beaches for swimming and a large stop for lunch. The other cruise stop is grand Bahamas, carnival has a water theme style port there. The entertainment is decent, the cruise director is crude but funny. The elevators reek and a musty odor greets you as soon as you exit the elevators. The staff is decent though, they did a good job with our room cleanup every day and at all the restaurants as well. Food will depend on the cuisine, some of the chefs are good and we stuck to their cuisines for the most part.
