Amazing. Fort Jefferson is spectacular but getting there and back by seaplane is an experience all itself. From the shipwrecks to the marine life, you'll have hundreds of pictures before you even arrive at the fort. I'd advise the half day trip, but I'll let you choose your adventure. Enjoy.

We couldn't make the ferry so we decided to pony up and pay the money to go on the sea plane. We have never been on a sea plane so this was a great experience. This was well worth the money. We got free snorkel gear and got to snorkel and stay over at dry Tortugas for over 2 1/2 hours. This was a highlight of the trip and definitely recommend it.

Britt was awesome, the ride ways smooth and educational and epic!! Can't wait to do dry tortures again!!

In my opinion the only true way to get to dry tortuga. Kris was a great pilot and he gave a great tour to and from the island. It was really cool flying over the sunken ships and wildlife such as turtles, sharks, and dolphins! It's a quick Uber or car ride to the airport. You'll go to the general aviation area off to the left hand side. There's a small parking lot there and then a little pathway to a trailer. Signs should point the way. After a few waivers and information you'll be on your way. The trip to the island is only about 45 minutes. What's great is the only people on the island in the morning is your seaplane, and anyone camping on the island or offshore on their boat. I recommend the half day. It was a good amount of time and ready to head back to enjoy the rest of the day!

Sea from the plane (Beautiful)

Would give it a 10 if I could. Awesome. We got to fly only 500 ft above the surface of the water. Kris flew our plane and was spectacular. Let people ride in the copilots seat. We got to see a manta Rey from the plane. Along with about 1,000,000 sea turtles and a handful of sharks. The pilot also narrates for you. So we got a history lesson on shipwrecks. We even got to see the mast of a ship. It was soooo cool.

Cooler, drinks and snorkeling equipment included.

Taking KEY WEST SEAPLANE ADVENTURES to get into Dry Tortugas National Park is not cheap, but it can be affordable. Driving to Dry Tortugas NP is not possible sit is a group of islands. You can swim, boat, ferry or fly in. If you choose to fly in, this is the only company permitted by the NP to do so. It was my first time in a seaplane so I had a ton of questions. Their FAQs answered a lot. Calling and speaking to someone answered the rest. I really like the fact that they provide snorkeling equipment and a cooler full of drinks. If you bought a half-day package, you really only need to bring sunscreen, towel and some cash for a souvenir. Would totally do again. The only thing I didn't like is that your option is limited to two: whole day or half day? Half day means a bit more than 2 hours on the island, which isn't enough. Whole day feels like too much.

It was amazing! You definitely should go! The pilot, Kris, was awesome, the snorkeling is easy, and the surroundings are beautiful!

The lady at the front desk was sweet and super helpful, the plane was clean and seemed in great shape and Kris was a rad pilot, tour guide and host! I can't wait to take the trip again for literally the plane rides alone. Of course Dry Tortugas was beautiful and the fort is so unique and fun to explore! Highly recommend this trip to anyone who is excited to check it out

This was awesome! I was sooo scared to fly, but my husband love's adventure. I booked a trip to the Dry Tortuga's. Kris was our Captain and he was skilled and very professional. The take off and landing were so smooth. He noticed how nervous I was and was very kind to me about it. He talked me thorough the flight and went out of his way to check on us while we were on the island. On the way back he pointed out a pod of dolphins and made sure everyone had and an opportunity to see them. He narrated most of the flight and was impressively knowledgeable about the sea and ecosystem as well as the history of Fort Jefferson. It was and amazing experience and I would highly recommend this adventure to everyone even those that are nervous to fly! Kris is awesome!!

Flying right seat with pilot Kris.

Got this trip as a birthday gift from my wife. Great flight over to Dry Tortugas with excellent commentary by our pilot Kris. Being able to fly "right seat" was a treat. Very comfortable ride and having cold water and snorkel gear provided was a plus as there is NOTHING on the island. Most of trip was at 350 feet so easy to see sharks, turtles, rays. Snorkeling is ok, nothing to write home about. The fort is impressive and worth a walk thru. Bring your passport and get it stamped on the island.

We drove into the parking lot found a spot and walked into the trailer where we checked in. We signed lots of releases and watched the short safety video. We will given a map of the garden key that identified the visitors center, bathrooms and areas good for snorkeling. We gave our shoe size and we're given fins, goggles a mask, cooler with ice and bottled water. We flew 500 feet above the water & our flight was narrated with everyone having a window seat. We were on the island for 2.5 hours at a cost of $351 pp and our National parks pass. The keys continue for 70 miles past key west, beyond where the highway ends. We had a beautiful clear day & calm flight on our de Havilland DHC otter seaplane. The views were awesome! Take off & landing on sea & water was so calm; Marcos s was an incredible pilot!g

40th Anniversary

I would rate a 5 Hubby a 4 So 4 1/2 if possible. Bucket list Adventure. Everything was just as they said. Instructions were clear. Pilot Marcus was very capable and put everyone at ease. View from the plane was amazing. Some seats/windows provide a better view. So nice to have coolers/beverages included as well as snorkel gear.

I hadn't been on a small plan before so I was like - oh boy...but it was great!!!
Rebecca K.

Just wonderful. I had grave anxiety about the small plane experience but my fears quickly dissolved. Our pilot, Adam, was just super. When you check in they give you papers with the pilot's bio and qualifications and history of the fort. They walk you through where to snorkel and swim and provide plenty of info about restrooms and other scarce amenities on the island itself. The walking tour of the fort doesn't take too long and if you climb the stairs to walk the top level you'll be rewarded with stunning views. Word to the wise: there are very few shady spots to sit so slather yourself in sunscreen! Please! Here is some info I was wondering about before I went: -The coolers provided are the teeny ones. They will give you water and soda to go in the coolers but not much else will fit, just FYI. -When the ferry is docked at the island you can get a reprieve from the heat by going in and using the restrooms (with running water) and purchasing food or drinks. The drinks must stay on the ferry. -Snorkeling is lots of fun unless you're a pro then it might seem a bit novice. I loved it though! -The half-day trip is four hours total so includes flight time. I was unclear on this so we had less time on the island than I thought - but this was ok with hubby who was hot and tired of walking. I can't wait to do this again next year!

From the ease of the booking and contact with Captain Morgan as to where to catch the boat to a beautiful day full of sites, fun and laughter. We (the four of us) have been in Key West on many trips and decided with the great weather doing an all day Tiki Boat/Sand Bar trip would be so much fun and it did not disappoint. The highlight of the trip was our Captain. Truly a great guy, friendly, welcoming, great sense of humor and very professional. Of course we gave him a hard time about being "Captain Morgan", which by the way he gets it a lot! We had the best time talking with him and as we all got to know each other we had blast giving each other fun stories and joking around. Morgan told us so much about the waters around the Keys. Took us to several very pretty spots in which we saw more wild life that day then he said he's seen in a while. We saw nurse shark, several dolphin pods and one with a little baby! Sting ray and some barracuda The waters are a beautiful blue like you seen no where else. Captain Morgan took us to see the beautiful mangroves, so many lizards in the trees it was crazy... and just gorgeous. We pulled up on a little beach to check out the views and hang in the water. We brought some drinks, sandwiches and snacks... Such a fun experience to relax on this boat. The tiki theme is so fun, clean boat and great music. Defiantly gives you the island vibe. Highly recommend asking for Captain Morgan, book this company and have a blast. We plan to do this again on our next visit. Great day - Thanks Morgan for making is so!

He's only been with the company for 4 months---but had all kinds of fun filed facts about Key West. I would recommend doing this fun, floating tiki party!!!! And try to get Capt Morgan....I am sure everyone would be great....but he's REALLY awesome. Thanks for helping us make forever memories!

I am a huge US National Parks fan and am trying to visit all of the US National Parks and Monuments…read moreduring my lifetime. Every time we visit Florida, I like to add another Park or Monument to my list. This time was Dry Tortugas National Park, a very unique park in that you have to book a ferry trip or board a sea plane in order to visit the park. We selected the less expensive option, the ferry, which is operated by Yankee Freedom. They offer a one day trip to Dry Tortugas for $250.00, which includes a breakfast, lunch, a guided tour of the fort, and the ferry ride to and from the island, which is 75 miles from Key West, in the Gulf of Mexico. The trip runs from 7 am - 5:30 pm. They also offer 10 spots per day for people who want to camp at Dry Tortugas. We were told that those camping spots fill up very fast. The parking for the day is in a nearby parking garage. It's pricey, so if you can get a ride there and back, that would be a less expensive option. The waiting area for the ferry is at the Yankee Freedom office. You have to show your ID in order to check in. They gave us each a number, which correlates to your number in the boarding process. The earlier you get there, the better. We were there a little after 7 am, and the waiting area was already packed. Channing, the guide, went over the boarding process and the day's itinerary. There were waivers to fill out for those borrowing snorkeling equipment. We boarded the boat and were able to find a couple of seats inside the boat. Immediately upon boarding, they had bagels and cream cheese available. Shortly after the ferry left, they opened the coffee/tea line, where you could also get a yogurt, fruit cocktail package, cereal, or oatmeal. We decided to opt into the guided tour of the fort. Channing was the tour guide. She was very excited to share the history of the fort with us and was extremely knowledgeable. I highly recommend the one hour tour of the fort. We learned so much from Channing! After the tour, we went back to the boat to eat lunch. They had Jersey Mike's sandwiches, chips, cookies, carrot and celery sticks, and beverages available. We ate on the boat and then spent the rest of the allotted time exploring the fort on our own. On the way back to Key West, they had a raffle, where you could buy raffle tickets to win merchandise, as well as a comment card raffle, where you could win another trip to Dry Tortugas by filling out the comment card. I won the comment card raffle! We have a year to use the coupon, and we will definitely be back! I'd like to do some snorkeling next time. We were so lucky to have calm seas during our trip. Be sure to bring Dramamine! We took some, just in case.

5 stars Way Better Than Just Another Bar Crawl! Listen, when…read moremy buddies started yapping about this Key West Ghost & Mysteries Tour, I was like, "Yeah, right ghosts in paradise? Pass the piña colada." I was already half-toasted from Duval Street happy hour, sweating in the humidity, thinking it'd be some cheesy, overpriced gimmick. But man, did it sneak up on me like a whisper in the dark. For what felt like pocket change (didn't even pay friends hooked it up), we wandered the shadowy backstreets of Old Town for 90 minutes, hearing wild true tales of haunted spots: the old firehouse with its dozen restless spirits (including a firefighter named Frank who still haunts the engine room), whispers from shipwrecked sailors on the breeze, and that creepy vibe from places tied to Key West's pirate past and yellow fever epidemics. The guide was a total pro mixing legit history with just enough eerie chills to make your skin prickle without going full horror movie. It's not scary-scary if you're buzzed and laughing with the group; it's more like deliciously mischievous storytelling that makes you glance over your shoulder at every creaky old conch house. What really sold it? Breaking from the usual beach-drink-repeat routine. Sure, Key West is all sun, sand, and rum, but slipping into the island's darker secrets cursed dolls like the infamous Robert, ghostly lights over the water from wrecked ships, and spots where the dead supposedly still linger felt refreshingly different and surprisingly fun. Highly recommend if you love a good story (and maybe a little liquid courage). The guide makes or breaks it, and ours was gold knowledgeable, funny, and just spooky enough to keep things lively. Bonus silly skit (because why not?): Me (whispering dramatically to my friends post-tour): "Guys... did you hear that? Footsteps behind us!" Friend 1: "Dude, that's just your flip-flops echoing." Me: "No, wait shh! It's Frank the firefighter... he wants his hose back!" Friend 2 (laughing): "Or maybe it's Robert the Doll, pissed we didn't say 'please' three times." All of us: "Run!" (We didn't run. We just hit the nearest bar for one more round. Ghosts approved.) Totally worth it. 5/5 even sober, I'd do it again.

If you're going to do a ghost tour--for the love of God, do it in Key West. Forget the cheesy ghost…read morewalks in cities that have to invent half their legends. This is Key West, where the humidity alone feels haunted, and half the locals already look like they've made peace with the afterlife. The Key West Ghosts & Mysteries Tour is the best of the bunch. You're not just shuffling along behind someone in a cape muttering about "orbs"--this is real-deal weird history. The streets themselves creak with old shipwreck stories, curses, and that doll (yes, that doll, Robert the Doll) who stares into your soul like he's still holding grudges from the 1900s. By the end of it, you're not sure if you're spooked by the stories or by the fact that people actually survived Key West before air conditioning. Pro tip: do it in the winter. In July, you'll be sweating so hard you'll mistake heat stroke for paranormal activity. In December, the air's crisp, the island's alive, and a walk through Old Town's lantern-lit streets feels like slipping between worlds. It's equal parts creepy, funny, and fascinating--a Key West cocktail mixed with history, ghosts, and just enough rum-soaked madness to keep you guessing.

This is a family-run business and you can feel that local, small-town pride from the moment you step on the boat. What impressed me most wasn't just the wildlife--though seeing bottle-nosed dolphins and sharks in their natural habitat was incredible--it was the professional camaraderie. Even though there are other tour companies out there, the captains are in constant communication, sharing sightings and even helping each other out with gear or debris in the water. It's rare to see that kind of collective stewardship in a competitive industry. The tour is also deeply educational. The guide did a fantastic job dispelling myths about sharks and explaining the biology of the animals (like the dermal denticles on their skin) with a level of respect that shows they aren't just using nature for a paycheck--they are actively protecting it. If you want an authentic, respectful, and insightful look at the Florida Keys' ecosystem, this tour is a must. Our daughter was a little disappointed not to see dolphins (you can't predict nature!), but she still absolutely loved the whole experience. Our son hasn't stopped talking about the sharks.
