To give you an idea of the situation: imagine budgeting $16k for a project. You meet with them, they walk the site, review the plans, and enthusiastically agree to the price to "earn your business." However, two weeks after signing the contract and handing over a deposit, they suddenly claimed the project would now cost $29K. My key Issues: Bait-and-Switch Pricing: The final quote was more than double the original agreed-upon price with vague and VERY inconsistent reasoning. Vanishing Deposit: When I chose to cancel due to the massive price hike, they claimed my entire deposit had already been "used up" on excavation. Lack of Integrity: They committed to a budget just to get the signature, only to move the goalposts immediately after. We are currently pursuing legal action to address these practices. This company is simply not worth the stress or the financial risk. I met many reputable masonry and concrete companies during my bidding phase--I strongly suggest you look elsewhere, you've been warned.

We had a $27k contract for JES to stabilize the foundation of our garage in Charlottesville and to…read moreaddress water that would seep into the basement during heavy rain events. The main work was done very well and professionally. The contract, however, also called for drilling a long hole into the end of a wall through multiple cinderblocks to drain the water intrusion that was getting specifically into the basement's stairwell wall. There was no other access point to the bottom cinderblocks of the stairway wall. It was a clever solution written into the contract, and the provision specifically stated that JES would bring a 36-48-inch masonry drill bit in order to drill a hole long enough to accomplish the goal. After the team completed the main work, we pointed out the need to finish the job by drilling this hole, but they did not have such a long bit with them. We then reached out many, many times over many months to get this hole drilled. Most often we were met with silence, but when we ultimately have gotten a response, the person would say, "Sorry, we will get that done." Twice, JES workers have actually shown up -- but without a long drill bit. They would then look at the situation and understand why the long drill bit was needed, say they would arrange for it to happen, and then radio silence. After we posted a longer version of the story as a review, apparently higher-up JES management people got involved and pretty quickly sent someone out with the right drill and bit to finish the contracted work. Presumably, some HR training has happened also and given that the job is now complete with the vast majority of it having been done well and in a timely manner -- I've now upwardly revised my rating.

The garage area looks worse than before. I paid a lot of money and am much worse off now. I am elderly and trusting, so when he said he was finished in early May I believed him. Big mistake. I now have to hire someone to paint over this mess (except the brick, I'm stuck with the splatter on it). I regret ever meeting this unethical, inept, incompetent, man. We AGREED to that. Contracts updated and signed. Find out scheduling is mixed up. Spoke to the wife owner and asked her to correct date mix up with salesman. We then wait. And wait. And wait. It's now 30 days later and apparently she did not care for the fact that I was irritated and she just arbitrarily canceled the job. Without notifying us!!! They tossed away a job worth over $10k and left us hanging with no communication. Petty and unprofessional.

I wanted to pave a fairly long driveway that ended at a two car garage. This company quoted me a fair price. I had received some outrageous quotes. The final result was better than my expectations. I could not find any flaws or thin spots. Neat with great attention to detail. They were punctual and finished a little early. The owner even stopped by during the previous weekend to address some last minute concerns. I would highly recommended this company.

I liked his quote so much I didn't even bother shopping around. Wednesday March 11th was the big day to get my driveway paved. Not only were we paving it, but also expanded it by about three feet. I also wanted an additional spot on the side of my garage where the trash cans go. Justin was 100% agreeable and said he does that extra sort of work all the time. They showed up in FULL FORCE on 3/11/20 with a fleet of trucks and equipment. This crew runs like a well-oiled machine! They knocked this job out quick! Several people kept asking me "will it get done today?" which I still find cute. Yes people, it gets done the same day. We are laying pavement not splitting the atom. First the Bobcat comes in and just moves earth to widen the driveway. Wherever that thing can't fit the rest is dug up by hand with shovels and pickaxe. I don't know why I thought they would use hand tools to widen the sides, shows you how much I know. They also cut a nice chunk from where the driveway connects to the concrete garage entry ramp. The finished product is a nice flat driveway. I'd say they were done in just a couple of hours. I spent an hour yesterday just admiring it. To say I'm pleased with it would be an understatement.
