It is unfortunate that I have to write this review, but I want others to avoid what my family has experienced. Tyler Key was hired for my daughter, in 1/2020 by a referral from Jake Gilbreath,when my ex began ignoring court orders, by my ex. He later "applied" to be my daughter's guardian ad litem at an enforcement hearing that I prevailed in. He was appointed as the amicus in order to ensure that visits would happen, specifically noted by Judge Junkin. As soon as I was ordered to see my daughter, Mr. Key did little to help. My ex still would not let me see my daughter despite the order, which resulted in me havingto go back to court to actually see her, and then things finally were beginning to get back to normal. Mr. Key actually suggested that we ignore court orders and all the hard work that was done to reach an MSA prior was undone. Resulting in my daughter having to undergo more litigation (which I did not want for her).
After a rule 11 agreement, Mr. Key proceeded to tell me that I still had to meet at the San Marcos courthouse, an hour both ways, making it hard on my daughter. He did nothing to help, after asking him several times and sharing my concerns, and he did nothing to make sure I saw my daughter at the ordered times, in fact he totally disregarded court orders.
In November 2020 something must have occurred, because he called me late one night and told me that "I needed to hire an attorney" and that he had "seen judges flip custody in my situation" and that "this phone call never happened". I hired one of the three attorneys he recommended, then he basically fell off the face of the earth and I have not seen my daughter in two years. I recorded our conversations and I am thankful I did just that.
In 2021 I received a phone call from a CPS investigator and later learned that my ex had allegedly assaulted a woman. Again, he told me nothing about this. He also would not enforce the orders and allowed my relationship with my daughter to fall apart. This man has no moral compass, and while I don't like writing reviews of this nature, I urge you to think before you hire this man. I have not seen my daughter in nearly two years, and this man had the ability to make a difference but did nothing. Now I worry about the long term effects this will have on my daughter.
Mr Key could have used his role to help my family, but chose to go for the referrals and defend a man who does not believe that their child should have a relationship with her mother. There is much more, but he should never be in the role of an amicus so please proceed with caution before hiring.
I am filing with the ethics commission as I pray that no parent goes through what I went through, he does not care about children, at least not by his actions because he would have helped and not been short sighted on what the long term effects she will have to face. My daughter has lost out years of a loving relationships... her mother, aunt, uncle and cousins who she was once so close to.
