My experience with Dr. O'Shea's office has really been bothering me so I thought that I would share my experience with yelp readers. I needed a dental implant and got a quote from my usual dental practice in Seaside. I then decided to get another quote from Dr. O'Shea. Dr. O'Shea's quote came in about $1,000 cheaper than my usual dentist so I went with Dr. O'Shea. But I did not realize that Dr. O'Shea's quote did not include the replacement tooth. Hence, I ended paying a $1,000 more than I would have paid had I gone with my usual dentist who had given me an "all in" quote that covered all aspects of the implant. But that was my fault for not understanding Dr. O'Shea's quote. I had gotten an implant from another dentist several years ago and his quote was also for everything including the replacement tooth. I did not understand that Dr. O'Shea's quote did not include the replacement tooth. I would have appreciated a better description of the scope of Dr. O'Shea's services. Following the implant, I went to Dr. O'Shea's office for teeth cleaning. The hygienist was very aggressive and pulled off one of my crowns. Dr. O'Shea glued it back on, but then two weeks later, it fell out. I went back to Dr. O'Shea who told me that he needed to use stronger glue this time. The hygienist stated that I needed to have my teeth cleaned every three months so I went back three months later, and another very aggressive hygienist at Dr. O'Shea's office pulled off another crown. Dr. O'Shea looked at the crown and said that he could not glue the crown back on for some reason and that I needed another implant for the tooth without a crown. I really didn't want to pay Dr. O'Shea another $6,000 when I knew that I could get a less expensive implant at Central Coast Dental. In the meantime, Dr. O'Shea's office sent in the pre-approval to Delta Dental for the implant before I had agreed to the implant. They even called a few days later to schedule an appointment for the implant. I found this annoying after I thought that I had made it clear that I was not going back to Dr. O'Shea for an implant. I then went back see Dr. Renuka at Central Coast Dental who told me that I only needed a new crown and that I didn't need an implant. I had a new crown in an hour and saved $6,000. As some of the negative reviewers have mentioned, I am not sure whether the professional advice from Dr. O'Shea and his staff is based on generating revenue for his practice or really represents his honest judgement with respect to patient care. Given that I was advised to get teeth cleaning every three months and told that I needed a new implant rather than replacing a crown, I have to imagine that money is more important that honest patient care. Hence, for the reasons above, I cannot advise anyone to seek dental care from anyone at Dr. O'Shea's office. read more

High pressure sales tactics. After paying for initial office visits and being pushed to set the next appointment without being told how much insurance would cover and deciding not to go through with it after finding out insurance wouldn't cover anything I keep getting sent bills after communicating several times that I didn't get any further work done never received any kind of product or treatment. Would not recommend. read more

Went to see Dr. O'Shea for an implant. I was in an accident and broke a tooth. I found his staff to be extremely knowledgeable, professional and helpful. Dr. O'Shea took his time to discuss my concerns. Answer my questions. I would highly recommend Dr. O'Shea and his staff. read more

When a a client does not want gum surgery and the dental centre keeps hounding you get a gum graft, you have think twice. I consulted other dentist and I was told I did not need gum surgery at that time but they had me sign a refusal to consent to dental treatment form. I let them know that this is not right and then I was sent a letter by Kevin O'Shea who I have not seen for least a year and told me that he is withdrawing from further professional services as my periodontist. I had no intention to go back to their office which they knew. Think twice before getting periodontal care from this dental office. read more

I have had connective tissue grafting done by Dr. O'Shea in 2013 and 2021 on some areas of gum recession, and both times the results have been excellent. The surgical grafting procedures have really bolstered those areas of recession to prevent damage to roots. Dr. O'Shea's oral surgical skills are outstanding, and I am grateful to benefit from his expertise as an oral surgeon. I hold Dr. O'Shea's staff in equally high regard, especially Nora, my dental hygienist: she is very attentive to detail and highly skilled at her job. I had a appointment at Dr O Shea office in Salinas. I was greeted by Dr Richards. The first thing he says to me was why did I come into this office. Not what brings you in. After I explained why I was in that office he pretty much didn't want to hear anything else from me. I really felt like he was standing there in a MEGA hat and I was not welcomed . read more

I recently had my first implant surgery and was very apprehensive of the whole procedure at first. Dr. O'Shea was very informative and explained the procedure in detail and showed me on my digital x-ray where the implant would go. Thankfully I didn't need a bone graft first, but he explained that procedure as well. My dental insurance doesn't cover implants so he was very upfront about the cost, different payment options and alternatives. On the day of the surgery I was nervous and his assistant was awesome. She was very personable and friendly which set me at ease. The procedure went well and I had absolutely no pain after the numbness wore off. Getting a filling is worse. Afterward, his staff was very helpful and friendly in reminding me about post surgery care, and my prescription was called into my pharmacy with no issues. I was a bit nervous to have a couple of my wisdom teeth removed but this office made it the best experience. The office itself can be renovated to look more modern but I'm basing my rating from the experience. Dr. O'Shea was so professional and funny as well and made me feel so comfy and his assistant was amazing too. My surgery was yesterday and they called right now to see how I was doing a day after and if I had any questions. It shows that they actually care about their patients. I had a very bad experience with his staffs. I'm not sure about doctor because i haven't had any treatment by him. But i made it very clear that i visited their office for my second opinion before implant surgery. They seemed to not get it. Some of the staffs were very pushy and aggressive questioning why I am not doing implant by him. Then when I got the bill, they charged me without insurance coverage. I called my insurance and called his office to let him know that there was a mistake. But they didn't fix it right away, they called me again after a few months later. The office is nice and the staff is professional except for the office manager who was rude to me and one of her team mates that was helping me. Her behavior was uncalled for and disrespectful to me and her colleague. There is tension in the office, a place where patients are already tense. I am a retired dental assistant and worked as an assistant in several offices over my career. I would not work hereand submit myself to her harassment. The DDS is cold and has no chairside manner so perhaps he approves of the hostile environment created. Passive aggressive behavior has no place in management especially in a health care setting. An insincere smile does not fool me and make amends for unprofessional interactions w me and the otherwise polite and professional employees. There are many dental offices that provide peaceful and proper treatment of their staff and patients along w excellent dental care. I found one and you can too. read more

My experience with Dr O'Shea and his staff has been excellent. I needed an implant done and was referred to Dr. O'Shea by my dentist. My dentist thought highly of his practice and I am completely satisfied with the work I had done there. On my initial visit to Dr. O'Shea's office they were extremely busy so I braced myself for a long wait but to my surprise my appointment started on time. Dr. O'Shea clearly communicated the status of my tooth, listened to my concerns and then explained what would be the best procedure. He did this clearly and concisely. I must say that I could overhear Dr. O'Shea explaining a procedure to an elderly lady in the room next to me, she was confused but Dr O'Shea slowed down and gently, without a trace of impatience re-explained the procedure in a way she could easily understand, I was impressed by this as it was exactly the way I would want a medical professional to treat my mom. After my procedure was completed periodic appointments were scheduled to check in on the condition of my implant and Dr. O'Shea's staff has been consistent in giving me reminder calls. I am scheduled to come in for an annual check-up later this month. I like the office decor, its down to earth and calming, plus there are charming Irish poems on the walls. Dr. O'Shea and his staff are fantastic. I highly recommend this practice. read more
