The space feels alive--music low enough for conversation, but high enough to keep the energy fun. Now, the food. Whoever's in that kitchen clearly cares about their craft. Every bite of my meal felt intentional--the kind of cooking that tells you someone's actually proud of what they plate. The texture, the seasoning, that balance of savory heat and crisp freshness--it's the kind of food that makes you look around the table just to say, "Yo, are you tasting this too?" The staff deserves a shoutout, too. Friendly without being fake, attentive without hovering. They made me feel like a regular even though it was my first visit. If you're the kind of person who loves discovering those local gems where passion meets comfort food, this is it. St. Pete's got plenty of spots to eat, but The Ball Joint is one of the rare ones you remember. Go to there website: https://www.wewantballs.com/ Truly amazing food experience!!

We were visiting a friend and staying nearby so stopped in for lunch one day. I am oh-so glad we…read moredid! It's cute and has a great fun skate vibe. It's located in a strip mall, and for some reason I was surprised to find it as cute and yummy as I did (I know, I know, don't judge a book by its cover). Our waitress was great about helping me make sure I didn't get anything that I can't eat. I completely forgot what my seatmates order, but I ordered a burger and it was really good. It's served on sourdough toast, which is definitely one of my fave ways to get a burger!! The fries were good, too (I *really* wanted to eat more than I did, I just didn't have the room). Everyone enjoyed their dish. We were there for a late lunch, it wasn't noisy so we were able to have a good conversation (noisy places have always turned me off, I'm there with friends and want to talk for heaven's sake). If you're scrolling through reviews trying to decide where to go. STOP NOW. Look no further, this is where you need to be. I promise! :) Thank you for reading my review. (ps, I don't take pictures of food, I leave that to the pros)

Service was stellar, our server checked up on us multiple times. Plus this restaurant is pretty spacious inside :) The zesty Bloody Mary was really good! The banana French toast was fantastic also! I loved that it came with so much. The avocado toast for a starter was good but I was hoping the toast part would be a little more toasted. My fiancé's fried chicken fried rice special was probably the best thing that was ordered at the table. The side of potatoes were also DELICIOUSSS. I would definitely come back for brunch. And honestly I was so impressed with it that I would come back for dinner also!

It was fine, but no substitute -- the honey made it a little too sweet for my taste. Still a solid pizza, just not the same. For apps we went with fried green tomatoes, truffle fries, and crispy fried wings -- a great spread to share. The tomatoes were excellent, still a little firm and not soggy, with just the right amount of crisp on the coating. The wings had a nice hot-and-sweet buffalo glaze, and the truffle fries were so good we ended up ordering a second round. The kids went with sandwiches. The Triple Smashburger was massive, towering height, though I'll note the patties were thicker than a traditional smash burger. The crispy chicken sandwich was excellent -- moist and crispy in every bite, and we upgraded to hot honey on the waiter's recommendation, which was a great call. Still one of my favorite spots in St. Pete, but Noble Crust, please bring back the Noble Pig.

Food 3. Ambiance 4. Service 5…read more While looking for a family setting near my sons job I stumbled upon Po' Folks and that is where the family met for a little together time. A stand alone building, one cornerstone of a shopping plaza, there is plenty of parking, plenty of space inside to eat and a Cracker Barrel type of ambiance. We had a comfortable and relaxing visit in a no-rush place where family caught up on all the latest. Service was attentive and friendly with a group of servers eager to help. I won't get specific with food other than their fried chicken is ok and the fried shrimp was what you expect from the freezer section at the grocery. The kids enjoyed the tenders and fries. Po' Folks provided the family setting we needed. Americana food that scratched an itch but nothing impressive in a culinary sense. I grew up with food like this and we called it putting the feed bag on. As a kid I loved it, now my palate wants more.

Many years ago, when we lived in Atlanta Georgia my family had an absolute favourite spot to dine…read more That place was called Po Folks. It had family style meals on long tables that felt like you joined multiple families at a big feast. We were giant fans of their fried chicken and their hush puppies. Unfortunately, like so many restaurants Po Folks closed their doors forever and our favourite dining place became only a memory. That was until we visited my sister in Saint Petersburg, Florida. While looking for a local restaurant, lo and behold, we found a Po folks! Upon further investigation we found that there are five Po Folks restaurants still in existence and except for the Saint Petersburg location all are in northern Florida. With our expectations off the chart, understanding that memories are often better than the actual events, we visited the Saint Petersburg's Po Folks Restaurant. Although the decor was somewhat different (not as large and the old white and blue chequered design is now red and white), we're happy to report that the food was just as good. The Service: Our server was delightful and happy to hear about our previous experience. She made sure our new experience was just as delightful with our glasses always full and our every request fulfilled in a timely manner. The ambiance.: Po folks is set up to feel like a family dining picnic. Designed to feel like a family dining picnic, it's feel is quite a change from the typical Metro Restaurant experience. The design matches the type of 'cookin' and friendly service to a tee. The food: How we initially found the Saint Petersburg Po Folks came about by a challenge we have faced since our move to Florida and that is finding a well-made whole catfish. In Texas there were many restaurants that offered whole (not filets) catfish to choose from. Not in Florida where we have not found a single restaurant that offers whole catfish. But lo and behold, Po Folks came up when we made our "whole catfish" search. Although not quite as large a catfish as what we are used to in Texas, the catfish was delightfully moist and flaky and easily came off the bone. The fried chicken and fried okra were just as fantastic as we remembered and the hush puppies were moist and a bit sweet, just as we love them. We also tried their lemonade which was well balanced (not too tart or too sweet.). We're sad that there is no Po Folks down in the south Florida area but as my sister said "we'll now be seeing a lot more of you, just be sure to stop in and visit with us along with your visit to Po folks."
