Playing guitar is in my zone, but I am not a trained singer; hence, I started searching for singing coaches on the Internet. I found HEATHERVOX. She had a lot of positive reviews; hence, I scheduled a session with her; and, I am so happy I did. - She has a beautiful singing voice; and, she immediately assessed my singing competency baseline. - She immediately started me on vocal techniques that quickly controlled the movement of my neck, mouth, and vocal cords. Most importantly, she taught me the importance of relaxing the vocal cords throughout the octaves. - After 40 minutes of teaching proper singing techniques and using the techniques she taught me going up and down scales, it was time to apply the techniques to a song. - I sang, Here Comes The Sun, by the Beatles; and, I was amazed -- I immediately noticed the improvement in my singing -- now, don't get me wrong, it wasn't just "add boiling water and instant noodles" kind-of- thing, but it was a drastic and noticeable improvement in my singing voice. I still have a lot of work and practice to do. Now, I have more controlled volume, my voice is more robust, colorful, and dimensional, AND I am able to hit higher notes easier without strain. I was also amazed with the added tone quality Heather gave me through her singing techniques. Heather recorded my session; hence, I have a starting baseline of my singing voice. I can track my progress. I also have recordings of the techniques she taught me; so, I can replicate them while doing my homework. I have 6 months from today, 23-January-2025, to get my singing skills on-point; hence, I am 100% certain, working with Heather, will get me to my goal. I scheduled additional appointments with her, and she gave me homework and exercises to work on before my next session. I really enjoy the straw exercise -- extremely helpful. Finally, I like that Heather has good business ethics. She assessed my progress and gave me a class schedule that matched her forecast of my progress within the 6 months -- she didn't try to sell me more lessons than I needed. I saw that Alexys offered free first time sessions and immediately thought it sounded great based on the good reviews. I walked into his place, and immediately did not feel welcome. I did the vocal exercises with him but it just felt like such a judgy environment that I was never relaxed or comfortable. I am not doubting Alexys talents as l'm sure he is a wonderful coach and likely an even better singer but the way I was treated did not sit well with me, even all of these years later. The vibes seemed like he only wanted to work with more established singers, which is fine if he made that clear somewhere on the website, then I would have never booked. Just didn't love his approach especially it being my first time trying something new like this, as vocal coaches are supposed to help you find your voice not stifle it further. I've since seen much more open and supportive vocal coaches online and have now realized how wrong his approach was. Again, I'm sure Alexys is talent and it is likely he was just having an off day as we all do, but it was just not a good vibe and if you'd like to work with more talented people please make that clear. Sending blessing to him still because we all have off days but a bit of clear communication makes all the difference. Leaving two stars instead of one since he did go through with the session despite him seeming like he did not want to, which I suppose is its own form of kindness.

I have had my tubas repaired and cleaned by Sean and his crew a few times now and I really love his…read morework and completely trust his shop. He modified the my F tuba to reduce the valve throw using a pretty creative solution which worked great. The thing I was most impressed by though is I came in complaining about a sticking valve on a relatively new tuba. This was clearly a manufacturing defect, and I need the value to work well for an upcoming concert. He was there on a weekend when the shop was closed and spent an hour meticulously going over the value to identify the problem and got it working perfectly while I waited for the repair. I highly recommend his shop for brass instrument repairs.
