I have been seeking a waxing place in Edmonton for a while now, and I think I may have found it. Conditionally. I have been to Keratic before, but my experience was somewhat lackluster. I headed in for a brazilian, and found the young woman who performed the hair removal more shy about my bits than I have ever been. She kept me half covered with a cloth the whole time, asking me to move it strategically. On my previous experience, the young woman got the front bit, but completely missed the lips and back bits. Not my idea of a brazilian. So, I returned with some apprehensions, but I was not going to be able to get to my regular waxer in Calgary before New Years Eve. That was enough motivation to drive me back into Keratic. Well! What a difference. This time, I was taken into a small room right off the neat main waiting area. Those who whimper beware, I bet sound carries from the first room. Her name was Sandeep, and if you go for a brazilian, I suggest you remember her name. She was gently spoken and not shy, waiting outside the door while I stripped off my knickers. She offered a towel that had been hanging on the back of the door, but I was a bit leery of it. Fortunately she put down fresh paper on the table. She was good, making sure she had a clear picture of exactly what shape I wanted the remaining hair to make. She was quick without being hurried, and she was thorough. Sandeep was happy to direct me in moving and positioning after I let her know I was willing to. The listed price on the wall was $45, but they charged me $52 at the cash register. Maybe their prices have gone up? Still a low price for a thorough brazilian. And lots of parking in the center of this new strip mall. I will be going back, but only if Sandeep is working. read more

Not a bad place to stop buy and get your care done. Friendly staff and clean. Reasonably priced. No appointments taken- large seating area in the front. I'd go there if you just want something quick done as you will have to wait. The only thing I dont like is they leave it up to you to make sure you know. Who came in before or after to ensure you know your turn- there's no sign in sheet . So hopefully you pay attention. Seating is comfortable and limited and so I'd be prepared to stand. Busiest times are of course usually after work and weekends. Make sure you have enough time to get what you want done. Always double check the work before u leave the room. read more

I've been here a few times, for bikini and under arm wax as well as eyebrow threading. Don't go in expecting a fancy schmancy salon and you won't be disappointed. Over all the place is pretty clean, cheap and fast. Make sure you tell them exactly what you want with regards to your eyebrows though, or you'll end up with next to no hair, lol. When I said "just clean up this area, don't go too thin" the point was taken. Overall, a great deal, and really quick too, I've never waited longer than 15 minutes to get in, and there's always been at least 3 people ahead of me. The procedures take 5 minutes or less. TERRRRRIBLE! I bought a coupon on Groupon to get a Brazilian, because usually in salons they at 80$ or more. Just to let you know, I've gotten many of them... This one was DEFINATLY THE WORST. it was painfull, she made me bleed, and bruised me! It was awful. Worst pain I've felt in my life. Usually I lay there, they do their thing and we chat. The whole time she was asking me if this was my first time... NO IT WASN'T! My first time wasn't as painful! It was VERY unclean. The wax was a terrible temperature and probably the cheapest wax you can find. Absolutely terrible! The table was covered in a cheap plastic cloth, and was still sticky from other waxings. I would pay $100 to get my normal Brazilian because I know I won't get an infection, and I won't be in this much pain! Do not go to this "salon". read more

This is a great place to go for eyebrow threading. They are quick, through and precise (not to mention cheap, $5.25 for eyebrows). This is my place of choice! The spa is not the nicest however, I wouldn't call it a spa... And probably wouldn't go here for things like a facial etc, but for eyebrows etc would recommend! read more

Ahh the ladies here are nice enough.. but I came in for an hour massage that got cut short into a 45 minute massage. I still paid full price, but they tried to argue with me that it was longer than an hour, however I checked my phone seconds literally right before it started. In the end they gave me $5 off the total. The massage itself was a little sloppy, and I felt that they could have kept me covered up a little better. Worst brazillian I have ever had in my life. I will never ever be going back here. I never wanted to think about this place ever again, but now that I see they have a groupon for brazillian wax jobs I feel like I should share my story and warn anyone considering going there. As if getting a brazillian wax done doesn`t already feel uncomfortable and compromising at the best of times, having it done by the most unprofessional, immature, and unskilled esthetician was absolutely horrible. The girl was so shy and uncomfortable with even seeing sensitive areas exposed that it almost made me feel bad for her. . . why on earth would you do that job if you can`t handle nudity with a professional manner? She barely talked. She acted like she was scared of me and it was my fault for upsetting her with my exposure. (as if I already wasn't uncomfortable enough baring all).It seemed way beyond her scope of training. And that was just the bedside manner. The towels given to me were pre-used and dirty. I saw her wash a tool with a dish sponge from their break area and had to specifically request that she not use it on me. And the container that held the heating wax was absolutely filthy with bits of hair stuck to the side. It was disgusting. I should have stopped her right there and walked out but I was about to leave on vacation and their salon was the only place I could get a last minute appointment. . . Then the procedure was the most horrible, horrifying, and painful wax job I have ever had in my life. She didn't rip the cloth strip off fast enough so she had to repeat the procedure over again several times on the same area. I was swollen and the follicles bled, completely defeated the purpose of getting waxed before going on a tropical vacation. And that still wasn't even the worst of it. She didn't finish the waxing properly and left patchy scraggles of hair (it really looked THAT BAD), and she didn't properly finish removing all the wax, or direct me to any products to dissolve the remaining wax so I could clean up. I didn't have time to go home immediately after the appointment to clean up so I had to do the best I could in the treatment room while I was getting dressed again, but because I couldn't remove all the wax, I later became......"glued together". . . and couldn't fix it until I got home much later in the day. If you know what I'm getting at, hopefully at least you got a laugh out of reading this review. If you don't know what I'm talking about, I don't recommend trying too hard to figure it out, just trust that it is something absolutely awful. Absolutely worst more unprofessional reprehensible horrible brazillian ever. It actually disgusts me to see that they have a groupon specifically for brazillian waxes at Keratic now. Don't go. Do. They desire an absolute ZERO! Simply because I got no service. I had booked an appointment the day before I wanted it. And asked to book for 6:30 for that day. Then I asked if I could push it to 6:45. The receptionist denied my request. So I said I'll be there for 6:30. LONG BEHOLD when I get there for my appointment. The shutters in front of the shop are down. And they were closed! What the f***! Their schedule said they close at 6 on a Saturday. So the F*** would you book an appointment for 6:30 on a Saturday. Let your customer know. I spoke to someone at the shop the day before to BOOK an appointment for my sari to be tied. Not the best eyebrow place in Edmonton, but not the worst. The last time I went, the lady who works at the front did my eyebrows. She didn't listen to a word I said about how I wanted them to look, rushed through the whole process in under 1 min, and didn't offer a mirror or ask what I thought at the end. She walked right out and shut the door behind her. I was left to look at myself in the mirror and no one was around to fix the uneven shape. One had an arch and one was rounded. This isn't the worst place I've been to for my eyebrows (that one is Bella Tonic) but the only other time I've been here, the girl waxing my eyebrows took off a chunk and then acted like it didn't happen... Only to apologize when I looked at it myself in the mirror. Still, not the worst place I'd say. But definitely not the best either. For 5$, there are still better places in Edmonton. read more

I also purchased a groupon and though I had read the reviews i hoped to see different results as maybe they have changed their practices, (i purchased the 50$ 3 Brazilians and did not want to waste it). Worst Waxing experience Ever! Very painful, blood spots at hair follicles, multiple dipping into wax with wooden stick, re-use of strips... and dirty in the room. This scared me, I will never go back... waxing is not a super pleasant experience but this was unbearable. read more

I went for a Brazilian wax ( not my first time, but first time at this place). Whn I was put in room. That woman asked me to lay down.. On dirty paper so obviously took it upon my self to change it, she then aske me to change rooms to a room directly behind the reception desk.. Which the windows there do not create alot of privacy. When waxing not only did she miss an abundance of areas but Did not hold the skin whilst ripping off the strips. And on top of that burnt me with the wax. So afterwards I couldn't wear underwear for 2 days due to Bruising and being burnt. After the wax she did not supply any lotions of excess wax removal products. When calling the manager he insisted that this was not the case and stated I could come back for another one.... Funny because with the expirence I had I would never step foot in that place again!!!!!!!!!! AWFUL read more

I recently bought the Groupon for 3 Brazilian bikini waxes and went there for my first treatment. I was horrified by how dirty it was and the lack of standard hygiene practices. Here is what I experienced: I was taken to a small room just off the waiting area about 10 minutes after my scheduled appointment time. In the room there was a cushioned table covered by a plastic table cloth that was still sticky from the last weeks of waxings that were done there and an old nightstand with a machine full of heated wax. (I don't know what the machine is called, it is what makes the wax hot.) There was a small piece of paper for me to sit on and an old stained hand towel to cover myself. I was given a couple minutes to remove the necessary clothing and put it on the table beside me because there was no where else to store it. When she began she asked how the wax temperature was, but when I said it was hotter than I prefer several times she did nothing to adjust the temperature. (This was not my first Brazillian wax and I am used to cooler temperatures of wax that were still completely effective.) She used only one stick for the whole procedure, re-dipping it into the wax. (So my skin particles and goodness-knows-what-else were now in the wax, along with the people soup from her other recent clients.) This bothered me but did not compare to what happened at the end. When the procedure was complete I was told to change while she cleaned up, and I watched her scrape the wax that had spilled out of the machine and put the scraped up wax back in with all the "clean" wax. The old nightstand that the heated machine sat on looked like it had not been cleaned in weeks, and now whatever grunge was on there was now in the hot wax. In the days following my treatment my waxed skin broke out like it never has before. (Red bumps full of puss.) Also, the pain from this waxing lasted for 3 days, when it is usually gone in a matter of hours for me. Needless to say, I will not be returning to Keratic and I strongly suggest you avoid it as well. read more

I went here for a bikini wax. When I got in she said "just bikini" and the only torn off enough paper on the table for where my bum would sit on the table. She did not leave when I took off my skirt. I was the quickest wax I have EVER had. She asked me to move the underwater out off the way on each side, one quick ripe and said she was done. This was about a year ago, but I would NEVER go back again. I live 5 minutes from here and would rather drive across town! read more

The girl I had did a decent job and was quite nice. I agree with the other posters though. She used the same stick every time and I am sure did not clean out the wax pot as she took a client in right after me. Also there is a window from the reception room that looks into the waxing room. When I was paying for the GST on my Groupon I could see the next girl lying on the table. Not cool. Will never be going back. I bought a Teambuy or Groupon (can't remember which!) for 3 Brazilians.......and only used one. I would NEVER reccomend anyone get this done here. I'd heard good things about the threading so had high hopes. I should've done my research in hindsight. I was in the first room on the right down the hallway. There was kleenex and wax strips on the floor and old wax strips (loaded I might add) in the garbage. The floor was on old piece of lino taped to the floor underneath. The trap that held the wax pot had a couple of dirty q-tips and inside out gloves on it, which she turned right said out and used for me. Classy joint right? I laid down with a sinking feeling and knew I wasn't going to be able to get out of there fast enough. She pulled from the top of the strip, towards her hand!!!!! I have had a couple of dozen waxes at this point and have never bled. Well, I bled here. It was really the worst experience I have ever had. She was quick, i'll give her that. I was out of there in 10 mins, but I had hair on the insides of my lips, patches all over and she wouldn't do anything on the back end. She hardly said a word except to ask if I wanted her to tweeze when she was done and I said NO! She also didn't use anything to take the residue off so I was sticking to my unders all the way home. When she was gone I rolled over to survey the damage and find something to take the was off with. I noticed all the lotions, oil, antiseptic etc were all from the Dollarama. I am serisouly not joking here, at all. I had ingrowns forever and scabs for amost a week. Don't go here if you are looking for a wax. read more
