One many people may not have heard of before is Thai Yoga Massage. It's a hybrid of shiatsu, hatha yoga and reflexology, and it's an amazing way to release tension in your body or address certain problem areas. Corinne McNally is a certified Thai body worker and she is an expert at what she's doing. She creates a space that is extremely comfortable and safe, and explains what she's doing so you're on the same page. Basically, she manipulates your body into stretches, so it's passive stretching rather than active, like when you're doing it yourself. It's wonderfully relaxing and afterwards you just want to curl up and go to sleep. We don't stretch enough in this culture, perhaps because we're too busy, we think it's boring or our bodies hurt too much already. This is the best of both worlds, because Corinne does it for you, in a painless, relaxing and comfortable way. She currently works out of an office/studio at Yoga Within on 75th Street.

The web site makes it super easy to book and see what people and time slots are available. This was my first time to this location but Trish was warm and welcoming and made me feel right at home. Despite the apparently full schedule (based on the web site booking page) I didn't see a single other person besides Trish while I was there, which was pleasant and all the more relaxing. Trish also helpfully followed up with an email listing some recommended yoga stretches good for sore backs. The rooms are pleasant and clean, and the whole atmosphere is soothing.
