Definitely the best looking aircraft I have EVER flown. The plane was so new you could almost smell its freshness! The cabin crew was amazing, the food was decent, the movie selection was awesome and the flight was incredibly smooth and comfortable.
Our flight from Nairobi to Amsterdam was about 9 hours, but it went by in the blink of an eye. The flight attendants were amazingly friendly. When boarding I almost ran into one who had a tray of alcoholic beverages she had already began serving first class. I joked and reached out my hand saying "For me? Why thank you!" She laughed and asked me what seat I was in and later brought me a glass of champagne with an option for more on the house! I was truly joking and actually don't drink champagne, but because she was so nice I couldn't refuse and had my first glass ever!
Our first meal was some hot dog-ish looking sausage with veggies, beans and a poached egg. It also included a strawberry yogurt and croissant w/butter. The next meal was a beef stew with potatoes, veggies, a potato salad, roll w/butter and sweet bread. Our final meal included slaw, dessert, meatballs in gravy w/mashed potatoes, spinach casserole, crackers, butter and cheese. They REALLY fed us well on this flight! However, I must also say this was the only airline where I got elbowed by the cart (twice) :-p
The plane had a ton of restrooms and a space near the rear where you could stretch during the torturously long flight. I only wish there were a tad more leg and elbow room. The flight was completely full and made it feel a little like living in a sardine can, but I had been away from home for 10 days and any airline that got me back safely was tops in my book! Highly recommended! Our final meal included slaw, a dessert, meatballs w/gravy, mashed potatoes and I believe broccoli. Also came with butter, crackers and cheese.
...
THE VERDICT
My biggest complaint would be the seats were just too snug for comfort. When the person in front of me would recline, the TV screen was uncomfortably close and made me feel as if I was going to ruin my eyesight by trying to watch movies. I leaned mostly into the isle to help increase my distance from the screen which is probably why I got hit with the cart twice. Also the food was just "meh", but otherwise I thought it was a good experience. I teeter between 3 and 4 stars, but ultimately, the lack of comfort overrules the great service. 3.25 would be my rating if it were possible to give a quarter star to make them slightly above average.
SIDE NOTE: Kenya Airways red uniforms are attractive, especially with the scarf around the neck and all red jackets with no collar and no print (couldn't find a photo and forgot to take a pic).
