Originally built in 1974 but then completely demolished in 2020, this rest stop and welcome center is on I-65 on the Kentucky side coming from Tennessee. It really leans into the history of Kentucky as a place for horse racing. The huge atrium has a welcome central desk in the middle, with vending machines and bathrooms on either side. It looks and feels relatively new, and a nice first look/feel of Kentucky for folks coming from Tennessee. read more

A very nice welcome center to introduce you to Kentucky If you're traveling north on Interstate 65 from Tennessee into Kentucky, this is one of the first places you'll encounter after crossing the state line. It is an easy right-hand exit with a straightforward entrance and plenty of parking for both cars and large trucks. It is a good first stop to stretch your legs, take a break from driving, and pick up information about the Bluegrass State before continuing your journey. One of the first things you'll notice after parking is the large horse statue outside the building to the right. It's a fitting welcome to Kentucky since it is well known for its horse farms and racing heritage. Also, marketing-wise, it makes for a great photo opportunity before heading inside. Inside the main building, it is spacious, bright, and very well maintained. It is a large open lobby with a round information desk in the center of the room. There were brochures of lots of the attractions arrayed on the round desk and derby pictures and other sights on the outside of the informational desk. The restrooms are conveniently located on either side of the main lobby, making them easy to find even if you're in a hurry. Everything was clean, both inside and outside. The parking areas were free of litter. Overall, I would certainly recommend stopping here if you're entering Kentucky on I-65. It is a pleasant, convenient, and well-maintained place to begin your travels through the Commonwealth. Enjoy! read more

For this, even one star is not enough, three booths in the men's room, you stand and wait until you get free, it sucks

Is this real life? Compare this Kentucky Welcome Center/Rest Center to the Indiana rest areas across the border and this place is like heaven. It's insanely clean and looks to be well taken care of. It's the cleanest rest area I've ever seen and I've done my fair share of road trips. Sometimes you feel like you have to watch yourself at rest centers to make sure no one runs up behind you & kidnaps you. Moreso than that, I'm always on the lookout for glory holes and tiny cameras when I'm in the bathroom...they just always give off this vibe. Not this place though! I peed in complete safety and peace! Woohoo! Aside from the cleanliness, there is ample parking, plus good food & drink options. If you must stop at a rest center, stop at this one! read more

Get your Kentucky information here! If you are entering Kentucky from Tennessee via interstate 65, you should definitely stop here. The restrooms are clean. There are snack and drink machines available if you need some refreshment. We were headed to Louisville. I researched everything I found online and felt prepared. When I entered the information center here the lady working asked where we were going and I explained I had the visitor guide and maps downloaded to my phone. She had additional information than what I found on the internet. There was a cartoon map to help you get to favorite areas and attractions. We used this map the whole time we were in Louisville. She was very helpful and I was very glad I stopped in for additional information. read more

Kentucky, Tennessee is showing you up in the welcome center department. Don't worry, I can say that being that I'm from Kentucky and now live in Tennessee. This welcome center has seen better days. It's been around for as long as I can remember. They've got bathrooms, vending machine, areas for your animals to relieve themselves (PICK UP THE POO) and an information center. I can say that the bathrooms are usually clean, however, no matter how much you clean an old bathroom, it still feels just old and dirty. The newer Tennessee welcome center is much nicer to do your business, just saying. I can say that they've got a lot of mature trees around the different buildings, which I enjoy. I would like for them to use some of the tax dollars and redo this welcome center so it's not so dated. Give people a real welcome, Kentucky! read more

Easily the cleanest welcome area I have ever been to. The entrance was staffed and security was visible giving us that warm safe feeling. Plenty of information available about the area. If you are stopping for a drink or snack, their options are limited to what you would expect from vending machines, and priced higher than I would have liked. read more

Gotta love a clean, well maintained bathroom on the road. We were just passing through, but the staff were busy helping folks to plan their stay. It seemed like they really like what they do, which is a pleasant change in this day and age. read more

UNWELCOME CENTER-TERRIBLE, if you have a dog!! Not dog friendly at all!!! The dog walk is about 3' wide, next to a chain link fence & the parking lot, in the sun!! Forget it if you want to have a picnic, since you are traveling with your pet, pets aren't allowed in the picnic areas! No one was abiding to this ridiculous rule! Tennessee's Welcome Center was wonderful, but not this one!! read more
