I was under the impression that vets care about animals well I believe its all about money and an outlandish amount I was suckered for their fake niceness.and put my faith and the money of caring people into this vet hospital and then in the end my dog vagina went back in on its own so absolutely a complete waste of monies that could have been used for her in a much better way .so thanks for nothing.

All the staff are friendly and make you feel like you're apart of a bigger family. Their compassion for the animals can be seen with every animal they treat. Sometimes it's hard for us humans to accept our pets aging and the costs associated. Please remember this isn't just a veterinarian office, this is an ANIMAL HOSPITAL, equipped with modern technologies to help care for our pets. Your pet's healthcare IS NOT free. Understanding your pets medical needs in the present and future is your job to learn. Blood tests are a regular $$ item when you have animals with certain medications. Stop bitching about the vet when it's more of a reflection on you and your financial position. Stop having a pet if you can't afford one. As they get older, they will require medical care.

FAIRHAVEN VET is truly the most compassionate, knowledgeable, caring set of staff I have ever encountered over numerous years. There was no manhandling of either of my two cats, and there was no instruction to "back away as the staff only knew best", I am truly grateful for the stress free environment, the time taken to examine and educate to my cats' health condition. The personal touch and caring I encountered and witnessed is absolutely extraordinary and compassionate. Staff had read the medical information before the apptmt, and entered the room prepared to identify primary concersn and to proceed with exam and vaccinations given as my animals were ready. Actual discussion then occurred in the visit as the cats relaxed, and when Ii could receive the information. Additional phone call later confirmed plan and my understanding. Costs were discussed, and quotes provided, that were reasonable and commensurate with other clinics. The extraordinary thing is having given the range of prices that could occur, they did in fact conclude in this visit under their quote. I am so grateful to work with this clinic and staff. Been with FVH for 8 years and just moved to a different Vet. I missed an appointment when my wife…read moredied. They didn't know the reason, but they also didn't bother to ask. Then I missed a second appointment for reasons that were my fault. You only get two strikes at FVH. Since then they require me to pay in advance like some kind of bum or they cancel the appointment. And how long will I be in the penalty box? Forever! Also, this "fear free" claim they boast about is none sense. The ask me to sedate my nervous dog before bringing him in. Boy, there's a breakthrough in care ; your pet won't experience fear if he's high as a kite. They even insisted on putting one of my dogs under for a nail trimming! He was sick and woozy all night long. And FVH's response? Take the dog to a pet groomer next time. Lame.

When Dr. Lindsay saw Sherlock, her advice was for ongoing injections and eventually a daily pill which has totally stopped him from eating himself.......

In fact, he was especially cranky today and had to wear a muzzle. But Dr. Johner handled the situation with incredible professionalism and calm. He gave Axel the space he needed, observed him from a safe distance, and calmly explained everything to us without escalating the tension. It worked! Axel settled down, and we got the answers we needed. Dr. Johner gave us a clear plan of action for some new concerns and took the time to explain everything thoroughly and patiently. Missy at the front desk is simply amazing, friendly, organized, and once she knows you, she'll probably recognize your voice when you call. It's those personal touches that really make this practice stand out. The vet techs are also wonderful, compassionate, knowledgeable, and clearly care about the animals they work with. Absolutely awful experience that left both me and my pup shaken. We came here for the first time…read morefor a pre-travel health certificate and exam before flying out of state with my 4-pound Chihuahua. My dog has had previous negative experiences at veterinary offices, which is why I specifically chose a new clinic and had hoped for a more compassionate approach. Unfortunately, before I had the opportunity to explain her history or discuss how she does best with handling, the veterinarian attempted to remove her from her carrier. He then stated that she was trying to bite him, despite the fact that she has never bitten anyone in her two years of life. She is fearful and tends to bark when she is scared. She was taken to the back to be weighed and fitted with a muzzle, where I could hear her crying. They later came back and told me that they had put the muzzle on her, but she couldn't breathe properly with it, so it had to be removed. When she was brought back into the room, the veterinarian restrained her by the back of the neck while attempting to administer a rabies booster that I wasn't aware she was due for. As my tiny dog squealed, cried, and tried to get away, the vaccine was ultimately given in her hind end before she was placed back on the floor. I was visibly upset and shaking while this was happening. At no point did I feel that my concerns were heard or that there was any effort to slow down, discuss alternative handling techniques, or take my dog's fear and history into consideration. I left feeling heartbroken that what should have been a routine visit became another traumatic experience for both of us. I understand that veterinary professionals have difficult jobs and that fearful pets can be challenging to handle. However, compassion, communication, and fear-free handling matter--especially with very small dogs that are clearly frightened. I cannot recommend this clinic based on our experience.
