No doctor should utter these words after being asked questions:…read more "We don't know what you do for a living, but we don't have time to answer all your questions." That was what this dentist said to my husband today. We've never been made to feel so guilty for asking questions about our treatment. After several treatments over the last three months, my husband and I are taking our business elsewhere. This dentist has no bedside manner. She might be good at what she does, as far as her dental work goes, but her insensitivity to other human beings overrides whatever skill she may have as a dentist. I'm not sure why other reviewers mentioned that they will work with your financial situation - we've had numerous treatments that she said needed to be done right away (?) and once our insurance ran out, they were not willing to work out a payment plan. Doctor seems rushed - in both my visits, I ended up asking the assistant/hygienist my questions, because the doctor was already out of the room and barely acknowledged me. (But I did get to hear her conversation with her assistant all about her mother and her nursing home while I was convulsing from the pain.) The office staff was nice and helpful, but I felt so uncomfortable with this dentist. I left almost in tears last week. Unless you have full availability during 9-4 hours, it will be hard to get an appointment here and it's really not worth that wait. We found another dentist already that will be taking us tomorrow in the evening hours. (Ricardo Burdiel in Cranston) This doctor seriously needs to work on her communication skills. And not be rude to her patients for asking questions.

And Brittney as well who was chairside. I honestly felt like I could have talked to her for hours! The dentist I had was kind as well and when I didn't realize I was having a certain procedure he worked with me so effortlessly regarding fees. I'm honestly just soooo happy because I'm 28 and still terrified of the dentist. And anyone who can relate can understand what it's like to finally go to an office that they don't have panic attacks driving to. PROS: -Hardly any waiting time to be seen -Covid-19 Protocols followed -Professional, down to earth Staff & Knowledgable dentists -Beautiful, clean office -Great environment CONS: -Pricing is slightly higher than most offices (but I always say "You get what you pay for". And you are DEFINITELY getting what you pay for here, it's 100% worth it. In fact, I don't have insurance and in the process of looking for a new plan. But I was perfectly fine paying out of pocket here instead of waiting for insurance). *Thanks for making my dental experience so much better. My son came out of his appointment for the final portion and said I don't think the guy knew what he was doing at all. Prior to the last procedure both my wife and myself spoke with the office to ensure that we would not need any adjustment to his retainer after the procedure, while we waited for the next steps. Both people we spoke with assured us he would be fine. We were NOT fine. His retainer DID NOT fit and we were basically told "too bad". My son is a teenager and they essentially told us he was fine to be missing two front teeth for over a month. He spent his entire school vacation in his room until we were able to contact his orthodontist to fix his retainer. If they had told us the truth from the onset we would have had the retainer fixed that same day. After all that, we decided NOT to use the office they recommended for his teeth, and we were shocked (well not really) that the East Bay put in healing caps that were too small AND one of the implants was crooked! Thankfully the office we used took care of both issues. But when they called East Bay they were also shocked at how rude the lady on the phone was. Stay AWAY from this place!!! After having been to a true Frankenstein dentist, Dr. Cardenas has been a breeze. The office staff are all very lovely and the dentist's demeanor is always pleasant. I have somewhat fragile teeth so I have had several fillings done by him and he always calms my fears of the worst. Never patronizing, just reassuring. He takes the time to figure out the best solution and filling type before starting but I will note that I do find myself having to ask him what he will be doing. But no matter how many questions I ask, even when I've asked him why he'll be doing something one way and not another, he always answers the questions satisfactorily. All I know is that I've always had a bit of fear of the dentist but I have never felt pain or discomfort during a visit with him. My husband and I have both been seeing Dr. Cardenas for a few years now and I find their prices to be exactly comparable to other dentists and their office hours are very accommodating with evening and Saturday appointment times.
