The surgical discussion was very balanced & he explained fully what I could anticipate for recovery & the risks. My surgery was 100% successful! I was at the Hartford Hosp outpatient center in Milford and the entire office & medical staff was great. I went into the surgery feeling that I was in good hands across the board, especially with Dr. W. He takes his time to really listen to patients and is not a surgeon who believes surgery is always the answer. He had been recommended to me by other medical professionals and I completely see why. I cannot recommend him and the staff he has engaged more highly.

After some time already spent in the hospital after my entire body just sort of locked up, I found myself confined to bed, a wheelchair, and, on a good day, a walker. I was also opened to risk for loss of all kinds of other functions which I won't get into. What I hear is often a 2 hour in and out sort of surgery, for me, was almost six hours with a three day observation stay after and it was successful. Although I am still building back muscle strength etc, my ability to walk increased tremendously overnight. As a person faced with a potential reality of life in a wheelchair and a bag strapped to my leg, I can say I have a new appreciation for my mobility. Last Saturday I was out dancing - in heels. Dr. Pennings, however, is more than a skilled surgeon. He is a charming human being. His bedside manner is comforting and reassuring and his staff and associates are also very knowledgable and capable. I sincerely hope you never have the need for Dr. Pennings services, but, if you do, I couldn't possibly recommend him more highly than I already do.
