Crystal, my physical therapist, was amazing. She spent 30-40 minutes each session assessing my progress, working on what needed attention, and what exercises would be best givien how I was feeling since our last session. She modified my exercises with the physical therapist aides for every session to maximize the areas of need to accelerate my recovery. The physical therapist aides were also great. Each aide provided 1-on-1 attention to walk through each exercise. Many were also working toward getting their own physical therapy degrees. The front desk is one of the most friendly and competent front desks I've come across anywhere. In addition, they also provide a 24/7 full service customer portal with a wide range of online services above the usual invoice payments and insurance details. You could cancel or reschedule your appointments in real time, send messages or ask questions, check your upcoming scheduled appointments, and more. You can also subscribe and sync to your own calendar (Google, Apple, etc.) which will sync new and updated appointment details along with physical therapist name, date and time. There's really no need to call to make changes unless you want to talk with someone. I highly recommend this place if you need quality physical therapy care.

This injury has required a staged approached with two separate surgeries (for a variety of reasons), but Dr. Christina Allen was up to the task and performed both surgeries beautifully. Not only did she do an excellent job in the operating room, but she and her staff have been helpful and communicative throughout the entire process, promptly answering questions I had and providing me with documentation that I didn't even know I'd need (like handicapped placard permits). I've been very happy with the level of care I've received at UCSF, both with Dr. Allen and in general. If I ever injure myself again, I will definitely return to UCSF. Feeling comfortable that your surgical team really knows what they're doing is invaluable.

The phone jockey informs me that since the pain is near my back, I need to go to the spine center and then will be referred to sports medicine if they deem it necessary. The pain is in my lat. Yes, that gigantic back muscle. Anyone with basic understanding of anatomy will understand why my issue is unmistakable. I hear good things about UCSF but all I have ever had are bad experiences.

Dr. Wardwell and his team stands out as one of the most brilliant, innovative, honest and effective…read moredoctors I have seen in my life. He was highly recommended to me by my acupuncturist who has seen him several times for therapies to heal long standing back and neck injuries. Dr. Wardell has an extremely impressive and well rounded background and education which enables him to understand underlying issues and causes in a way that most doctors do not. I have recommended him to so many people who have chronic illnesses and pain/injuries who are unable to get relief by traditional methods (cortisone injections, PT, surgery). Not only does he have a deep understanding of any medical issues I've asked him about, his approach is always focused on getting to the true cause and healing them vs a band-aid approach used by so many doctors. His treatments / approach are all quite reasonably priced and has helped people avoid major surgeries that would be much more costly and not actually fixing the underlying problem or condition. I feel that Dr. Wardwell has a strong sense of integrity and ethics and treats his patients with genuine respect, never pushing profit over the best interest is his patients. I have been trying to recover from a severe case of Bells Palsy 7 years ago which I was told by some of the top doctors in the field that I would never be able to heal from it, and the only options were Botox and invasive surgery in my face. I'm so thankful that I have found PRP (plasma rich protein injections, same used in "vampire facials") therapy with Dr. Wardwell which has already healed and improved my symptoms in 3-4 months post PRP therapy. My other doctor who has been treating me, who is the head of plastic surgery at Stanford, was amazed as the most recent progress and never heard of PRP being used to to treat Bells Palsy, which is quite sad. I'm getting the word out. If you are looking for a doctor who will truly get to the bottom of your condition and treat you with the utmost care and respect, I highly recommend Dr. Wardwell. Randy on his team is also very welcoming and accommodating whenever possible. Do not hesitate to schedule a consult if you're thinking about it! You won't regret it.

Within 5min of being at Dr. Wardwell's practice, he had imaged my achilles via ultrasound, diagnosed it as partially torn and had a proposed treatment plan - PRP and stem cell injections for my back, achilles and foot. He doesn't just treat the injury, but treats the full body, focusing on the the root cause to prevent re-injury. 4mo later - I'm back to running and am not limited in any activity. More importantly, I'm not hobbling out of bed every morning (which previously, I was resigned to doing for the rest of my life). I'm so appreciative for Dr Wardwell and the huge quality of life he has given to me. Also shoutout to Randy, who runs the office and is such a pleasure.

We got in relatively quickly for our initial visit. We were also lucky that he found it pretty early and compared to what I've heard other patients experience his was a more mild case. Though, my son didn't want to go thru what he went thru before. The wound vac, missing school, all that just to have the problem return a couple years later. I really can't think of any suggestions for improvement. Dr. Sternberg is very friendly and super knowledgeable, passionate about helping patients get healed. His staff also perfect. They use an app, and you can message them directly anytime you need help. Anytime you're concerned something might not be right. Seriously the best experience I've ever had with a doctor's office. We are lucky to just live in the South Bay, so we were able to have a short drive home after his post surgery appointment the next day. I would definitely recommend anyone flying to spend several days, maybe a week in SF. If you're driving south I'd definitely recommend you take 280, much less bumpy than 101. I can't recommend this office enough. Even after he was all healed Dr. Sternberg said "once a patient always a patient." If we need anything just to call.

The care, expertise, and support--before, during, and after--were remarkable. The surgery was a success, and we are so glad our Atlanta doctor recommended Dr. Sternberg. His staff, especially Amaya, felt like family by the end of the process. If you are questioning whether to travel to San Francisco, CA, to see an unfamiliar doctor for such an invasive surgery, book the flight, hotel, and do it. You will not regret your decision. You can begin living a better quality of life after the surgery and recovery. We will forever be grateful to God for giving Dr. Sternberg the knowledge and passion to change people's lives.
