Wow... what an amazing addition to the commercial community here! The owner is VERY friendly and cares about his customers. Quality of food is great and portions are big. Side story: I just ordered some food, the lady behind me looked like she was struggling to afford a meal, the owner discounted her order. Just goes to show these guys care. Will come here consistently! read more

Kennedy Fried Chicken - Chicken and Rice Mix - Soul Food Near Me - Poughkeepsie, New York

So I am sad to see this iconic Poughkeepsie spot only rated 3 stars! I eat here a couple times a month, and the food has always been spot on. I get it is in a not so savory neighborhood and you get harassed by the zombies outside, but the chicken is the best in Poughkeepsie. The staff is always polite and professional despite dealing with a rough clientele who are often rude and even threatening to them. I cant speak to a lot of the food, as I haven't eaten most of the stuff on the menu. I can however speak to the chicken, fries, corn nuggets, and the beef patties. Any of these items I would highly recommend, and I would be surprised to hear negative reviews on them. read more

It's a covid pandemic and they are still not wearing masks or gloves and serving food to neighborhood people who may not have the transportation to reach an establishment who cares about their customers. How is this business still operating. Why is this business allowed to not follow standard non pandemic practices like wearing gloves while serving and preparing meals. This business is a health hazard. I regret to have patronized them in the past. read more

Received the order from KFC. ( The chicken was supposed to be on a skewer, not sure where it was except it was burned on the outside, the inside was dry and tasteless. The packaging was awful, fries were in a greasy bag, Dinner was dry, Chicken wasn't chicken, not sure what it was. The fries were in a separate box, filed with French Fries and contained sweet Potatoe fries which were dry, taste was awful. The $33.00 was not worth it, Felt as though I had thrown my money away. read more

Staff is very friendly and nice. Chicken is crispy and well seasoned but grey on the inside. Mashed potatoes are inedible. Coleslaw tasted spoiled. read more

Employee never where gloves or wash their hands. Yesterday I ordered food. The employees was counting money, then they went to prep burgers without using gloves or washing hands after touching bills. I got really sick from here. read more

Why did the chicken walk on the wild side? To become a tasty part of Kennedy Fried! Every bite of chicken has just the right amount of crispness. The breading adds a unique blend of spices and lives up to its "wing with a zing" slogan. We ordered a snack box per person, comes with 2 pieces of chicken and a side. The chicken is fried just right and drained nicely leaving you with a piece with very little grease. Good memorable chicken at a great price. A Bite More: Order a snack box for one or a jumbo box for two. Also you must try the "Munchers" a bite sized fried potato or corn and cheese snack. Very good! (be careful if right out of the fryer, they retain the heat well) Best for takeout if your from out of town. Because of the location I don't recommend you visit this establishment after dark. Unless you are with experienced locals. Taking food to a party?? Take Kennedy's Fried Chicken and you will be inundated with praise from your friends. read more

The food isn't terrible I just wish they had more dipping sauces for my chicken and fries. They only have ketchup and this strange tasting hot sauce. Overall 6.7/10 experience. read more

The restaurant itself is pretty basic. It's got a few tables, and much of the wall is decorated with pictures of foods and prices in ways that reminded me of many Chinese restaurants. But the food is good! The chicken is sort of midway spicy - not as much as the spicy versions of the larger fried chicken chains, but enough to make the taste interesting. And neither the chicken nor the fries were greasy. The small roll that came with my meal looked like an afterthought, a little dry and probably broken off from a group of rolls. Then again, I didn't come here for the rolls; I came her for the chicken, and I enjoyed it enough to want to come back. read more

It's actually the best fried chicken I've ever had. Definitely a hidden gem in the Poughkeepsie region.

This place has the best fried chicken. Idkw they do to it but no where can beat them. Crispy and flavorful. Yum.

Great fried chicken and fries. Reasonably priced, have a drive thru, accept cards, and they are better than KFC.

Came here last night to get dinner for my family. We waited over 20 minutes in the drive thru line. When my husband told them our order, they didn't confirm that they got it so we e had to wait until someone acknowledged our presence. Eventually they did, and you can barely understand the muffled voice over the speaker. When we finally got our food and came home, the mashed potatoes tasted flavorless, like spackle. Macaroni and cheese was terrible-my daughter didn't even finish it. The only saving grace was the chicken, which was quite good. Probably will just get the chicken and make my own sides next time... read more

Being the only place open after 11 PM we went to take out some fried chicken. The place is small but I'll be honest, there were some people inside and outside that made me nervous so I decided to drive through instead of going inside. I got some fried chicken and French fries and they were fine. It's hard to complain about fried chicken and fries. I don't think they are as good as KFC or Popeyes but they are better than the grocery store fried chicken. Price wise, I don't think price is a deciding factor for me... I will definitely go again if KFC is closed and I want fried chicken. I took a star away because it didn't seem like the safest place to be after 8 PM. read more

This place has cleaned up! Definitely not as sketchy as it used to be (in the daylight anyway). They have a drive through now. New place is right next to the old one. Food is great as always. Fried chicken is juicy, mashed potatoes potatoey and the beef patties and corn fritters better than ever Worth a try if you're feeling adventurous. read more

So ordered from here for the first time, delivery, ordered 3 meals, the food gets here and is totally missing my meal! I called about 4 times before I gave up and just had grub hub refund my meal. Really disappointed. read more

Horrible experience. Didn't even get to state how I wanted my sandwich before they made it.... was missing a fry too. If I steal it's called theft, if I pay and don't get my food what's it called? read more

Lol. I have so many memories from Kennedy's. I remember Kennedy's back in the late 90's and early 2000's. There is no comparison lol. Its really nice now, and it has a drive thru. But no matter the place in NY you should expect the same from all Kennedy's. Chicken is A1 most of the time. Just depends if it is fresh or not. Hot Wing Zings never fail.. Kabobs are okay too. I love my Hometown lol. read more

Food better than a lot of places I've been, prices great, fast paced, place needs a good cleaning. Service okay. It's nice that they try to remember your order but I was one of three people the day I went that had items missing from their order. read more

So as far as Fried chicken goes this place is pretty good. I'm a big fan of there pizza rolls and Beef patties. The prices are good compared to most places like KFC or popeye's.Their master title size or a tad bit too small in my opinion, but over all pretty good food. Not a big fan of the location but with the new drive-through it makes it much more convenient. read more

If you want the best fried chicken in Poughkeepsie, than some of you will have to get out of your comfort zone. Its not in the greatest neighborhood but the service is decent for what it is and the prices are more than reasonable. Kentucky Fried Chicken might be in a better location but I certainly would take Kennedy over Kentucky any day! read more

So normally when you get fried chicken to-go, the heat turns the crispy crust into a soggy mess by the time you're home. Don't know what beautiful, delicious batter they use but my lord Jesus, why did I just learn about this place?!?! I have not tasted fried chicken so flavorful, moist, crispy and had just enough salt to grab another piece. The oil I can see is changed regularly cause I don't taste it, they give you an option not only get breast and leg. I give it a 4 only because I didn't go here to get it but I'm sure it'll change when I go there myself to get more then just chicken. Thanks for making great chicken! read more

For what it is, it's perfect. I came here for inexpensive, delicious fried chicken in an informal environment and that's exactly what I received. Although the surrounding area can be considered an undesirable location, I experienced nothing but amiability from the people there. Grabbing some quick tasty soul food there is definitely recommended. read more

Kennedy's has some of the best Fried Chicken you'll find in the Hudson area. Amazing fried chicken, great wings, awesome mozzarella sticks... Pretty much everything else is good too. best of all, dirt cheap! Sure, it is by no means in a friendly part of Po-Town, and yes, you do have to reach around a double bullet-proof glass wall to pay... But it is totally worth reaching outside of your comfort zone. If you're in town, dont waste another penny on the other KFC, Kennedy's is where it's at! read more
