Really nice place for breakfast. A little dining like setting where you can sit at the counter or at the table either indoor and outdoor. Great selection of regular breakfast items and also of a Mexican twist of breakfast entrees. We had the big plate breakfast with 2 eggs, bacons, sausages, ham, hash browns and pancakes. This is a huge plate, the two of us just barely finished it. The back was very crispy and I have asked for the hash brown to be extra crispy and it was done to the exact request. Service fast and friendly.

    A sad $33.00 breakfast....

33 dollars of food is not enough to feed a person. It was my 4th choice because I sat one place with no service for 10 minutes, next place was cash only, next place showed open but was closed.....$33 crappy breakfast.

Food and service were both excellent. One of the best bagel sandwiches I've ever had.

Really charming place out of time. Sweet service, pretty basic fare but done well; generous portions, credible beef tamales; good amount of mayo in the tuna salad; chips and salsa were way above average. As good of a pit stop as one can make in Borrego Springs.

Great diner with a small town vibe. Busy on the weekends especially during the beautiful winter/spring months so arrive before 9 AM. Classics diner inside with an outdoor patio as well. Classic breakfasts! and I was told by one of the locals that they have excellent Mexican food during the lunch hour. Great service even during the busy rush with waitresses going the extra mile. Love to come here every time I visit Borrego Springs.

Store that sells the metal statues you see in desert is parallel to restaurant's outdoor patio.

It was a quiet weekday afternoon and this was a perfect place for lunch. Very diverse menu with American, Mexican and other fare available which made everyone happy. Thereafter, the kitchen delivered because it was delicious and zero leftovers. Service was great and we appreciated our pup was welcomed on the outdoor patio. Located in a fun open air, desert shopping center with plenty of free parking.

Basic diner tucked in a small outdoor strip mall in Borrego Springs. Conveniently across the street from the public library, where we were heading to for an event. Went for a late lunch on Saturday, and there were just a few other customers. Very clean. Standard diner fair (American and Mexican). We ordered a burrito special and chilaquiles a la carte. Both were okay. The chips and salsa were a great way to start.

Went to Ocotillo Wells this past weekend for some ATVing and had to charge the car across the street at the library. The charging took forever so the gf and I walk across the street to the small mall and found this gem! They close after lunch so had to wait a bit before they opened at 5:00pm for dinner on Saturday. Instantly fell in love with the place as it gives all the old-school diner vibes. The menu is pretty large as they do breakfast, lunch, and dinner items. Decided to share an order of mozzarella sticks and the fish and chips. Great sized portions and both tasted great! Would definitely get both again. Our waitress also easily convinced me to get a slice of their apple pie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and it was perfect. There was only one waitress working the dining room while we were there and she was on it; checked up on us, refilled our waters constantly, and was overall really nice. Caught her name was Maddy as she talked to other guests so know you're in good hands if she's around. Definitely recommend this spot if you're in the area and want that awesome diner vibe with great service!

Visited 10/20/2023 I'm Happy to Say They are Open Once Again for Dinners Wednesday through Saturdays. And Yes The AYCE Fish & Chips is Back better than ever. They start you off with a cup of their very tasty Clam Chowder or a Fresh Salad and a slice of fresh baked Corn Bread. The French Fries are perfectly fried and the House Beer Battered Cod has amazing flavor. Excellent service with a Friendly Smiling staff. They constantly check in with you asking if you want more piping hot Fish until you are stuffed to the brim. The pieces of fish aren't the largest but each bite leaves your taste buds begging for another bite. They will keep your plate full till you can't eat another piece but wish that you could. I for one am a happy camper Kendall's Cafe is once again giving all us locals and out of town visitors another option for a Tasty Dinner. Give them a try sometime. I sure enjoyed dinner Friday Night. Gotta Love Small Town Cafés. Kendall's Cafe 587 Palm Canyon Dr, In The Mall, Borrego Springs, CA 92004

QUICK TAKE// A perfect diner experience if you're looking for a no fuss, many options and great service. FOOD// So much variety and great standard diner staples. I had their soup of the day which was split pea soup (so tasty - had some ham in it!) mozeralla sticks, fish and chips, and finished with an apple pie a la mode. After a long day ATVing, my partner and I were HUNGRY and quickly devoured everything. SERVICE// We came right when they opened for dinner at 4pm so it was pretty quiet, and our server was the absolute sweetest. She was attentive to checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed often. VIBES// Straight diner vibes. Sometimes you just want that retro look where it's strangely familiar even if you've never been to the particular restaurant. EXTRA-CREDIT// For the wonderful service we got. I left feeling beyond satisfied and would 100% come back again.

Buttermilk pancakes, two eggs (sunny side up), sausage links.

Friend and I visited Borrego Springs this past week and since the place we were staying at (La Casa del Zorro) didn't serve breakfast on weekdays, we looked around town for a place to grab food before we headed on our long trip back home. Apparently in the Summer, a bunch of restaurants/shops close due to the heat and reduced visitor volume. Luckily, Kendall's was open and was a nice welcome sight in the otherwise hot, desert environment. We were greeted as soon as we walked in - one of the waitresses even cheerfully said "glad you found us and could make it" - since she recognized my voice when I called for directions. They are tucked inside "The Mall" - and accessible only from the interior center of the plaza, rather than from the outside. Just park anywhere near Borrego Outfitters. I have a thing where I always order buttermilk pancakes when I'm traveling - since it's a favorite breakfast item of mine, and I'm always curious if I can tell whether a place uses mix or from scratch. So of course I ordered the buttermilk pancake breakfast with two eggs and choice of protein. I couldn't decide between sausage patty, links or bacon - so I asked the friendly waitress to "choose for me" - and she firmly responded "No." LOL. Anyway, I opted for the sausage links and friend ordered the Eggs Benedict. My friend started cracking up as soon as she walked away with our orders. I imagine it's prob because other guests have asked for suggestions and maybe didn't like what they ended up with - I honestly couldn't decide between sausage patty or links - so wouldn't have minded either way. The food was great. I couldn't tell if the pancakes were made from scratch or from a mix - I imagine being in a smaller desert town, you'd think everything was made from scratch - but it was still very good. The sausage links were great, the eggs were perfectly cooked - friend loved his eggs benedict. Service was prompt and the other waitress (that didn't take our order) kept refilling my friend's water cup, as well as asked if I wanted a refill on my soda. Clean restrooms, and plenty of seating throughout the cafe. Overall - great place for breakfast/lunch (they close at 1 or 2pm - so dinner is not an option here). If I ever find myself out here again, will definitely stop by! We checked out Borrego Outfitters (I wrote them a separate review) after our meal, before we headed home.

Service was amazing, so quick to come out with fresh chips and salsa (FRESH! as in they made the chips in-house... rare trait to come by these days IMO). Quantity of food was incredible. I can't speak for the menudo (dad got this) or for the 3 egg platter (not really sure why my mom got this) but $16 for a carne asada burrito as well as the beans, rice, and veggies on the side was such a steal. Especially in Anza Borrego. I would've thought it would maybe be more expensive since it probably costs a lot to bring out the best ingredients in the desert but somehow they have it all figured out. The carne asada burrito meat was top tier. Smoky flavor, soft with charred edges, so flavorful and overall the quantity of the burrito was way more than I was expecting. Lastly, I'm just so happy my dog got to sit outside with us. They have a shaded patio with a couple tables. I think other pet parents followed suit, as this seems to be a hit for dog-friendly spots here in Anza Borrego. I'd highly recommend. What a great find by me. Go me!!
