Before I could even see them, I was told that if a cat is under 6 months old, adopting two is required. I wasn't even allowed to open a kennel and gently interact--I had to wait in a separate room for the staff to bring one in. After a 30-minute wait, I was told I needed to fill out a different application--apparently cat and dog adoptions use separate forms. While I was filling it out, I noticed someone receiving a large bag of pet food. She said it was part of their animal food bank, which I thought was wonderful. I asked about it and was told I could sign up. But then everything shifted. Because I inquired about the food bank, I was told I wasn't "financially responsible enough" to adopt. I explained I have food and resources for a pet, and that my last two ESA companions--a dog and a cat--each lived over 21 wonderful years with me. Still, I was denied the chance to even meet the cat I came for. I asked them to discard my application. This experience hurt deeply. I came with love to give and a stable home to offer. I never imagined being judged for asking about a support program offered to others. I will find a cat in need--just not from here.

So far I have seen about three of different vets at northshore and they always take the time to look over her and figure out what's wrong with her! They have never tried to suggest anything I didn't want done to her and always treat us with great respect! I recently just adopted a puppy and brought her in for her first check up, and again Jan got excited to see her. Jan took Emmett from me and introduced her to the other receptionists which Emmett just loved! When Haley (vet technician) came and took Emmett and brought us to the room! Haley even took Emmett into the back to meet the other technicians! They truly made Emmett's day and made sure she would never dread going to the vet! During a routine tooth cleaning the doctor found a problem that must have been there for years that no one else had found- making the dog much more comfortable. Not only is the doctor great but the front staff has also been very helpful. Recently my dog was diagnosed with giardia and I've called several times with complex questions. Every time I'm taken seriously and gotten answers that were thorough and helpful. Our son also takes their dog here. They see a different vet and are also really happy. So comforting to know I have great care for my aging dog.

Pete came by to introduce himself before we hired him and we found him very friendly, warm, and certainly a cat lover. FAIRHAVEN VET is truly the most compassionate, knowledgeable, caring set of staff I have ever encountered over numerous years. There was no manhandling of either of my two cats, and there was no instruction to "back away as the staff only knew best", I am truly grateful for the stress free environment, the time taken to examine and educate to my cats' health condition. The personal touch and caring I encountered and witnessed is absolutely extraordinary and compassionate. Staff had read the medical information before the apptmt, and entered the room prepared to identify primary concersn and to proceed with exam and vaccinations given as my animals were ready. Actual discussion then occurred in the visit as the cats relaxed, and when Ii could receive the information. Additional phone call later confirmed plan and my understanding. Costs were discussed, and quotes provided, that were reasonable and commensurate with other clinics. The extraordinary thing is having given the range of prices that could occur, they did in fact conclude in this visit under their quote. I am so grateful to work with this clinic and staff. Been with FVH for 8 years and just moved to a different Vet. I missed an appointment when my wife…read moredied. They didn't know the reason, but they also didn't bother to ask. Then I missed a second appointment for reasons that were my fault. You only get two strikes at FVH. Since then they require me to pay in advance like some kind of bum or they cancel the appointment. And how long will I be in the penalty box? Forever! Also, this "fear free" claim they boast about is none sense. The ask me to sedate my nervous dog before bringing him in. Boy, there's a breakthrough in care ; your pet won't experience fear if he's high as a kite. They even insisted on putting one of my dogs under for a nail trimming! He was sick and woozy all night long. And FVH's response? Take the dog to a pet groomer next time. Lame.

Had to take my dog straight to emergency vet when I picked him up. Owner told us "he did fine, but…read morehad a bit of scratching". He was covered in fleas and infected sores. He had a fever and was very, very lethargic (was not at all excited to see me, very rare). My pet suffered under these conditions for a full week in their care and we received no contact. Five days later we are still treating him and he is doing better. Asked to speak to owner and haven't heard zip. These people should not be allowed to care for animals.
