My friend ordered Alligator bites and collard greens. Food came out and looked great. Had good bite of my sandwich, turns out pork belly is glorified bacon in this instance and was overcooked. If this was a "bacon jerky" sandwich it would be 5-stars... but expectations were askew. Next up, lobster mac... still looking for the lobster in this one. The jambalaya had good spice and sausage, however the rice was mushy (honestly, this seemed like leftovers) Onto the alligator... nicely seasoned, tender, a bit chewy ... overall all... I'll order that next time. I also like the greens a lot. Win some, lose some. Glad we made the stop and I look forward to a return trip to try the brisket and salmon.

Outside of the bags we shared crab fried rice, fried mushrooms and French fries. Crab fried rice - do yourself a favor and get it. French fries are perfect for soaking up sauce Bag contents were all wonderful. snow crab legs were plump and yummy, shrimp was firm yet tender and sweet. Corn was like it had been freshly picked and cooked same day. The only thing that wasn't rave-worthy was the andouille sausage. It was fine, but not epic. Even the forks, claw crackers, and shell breakers were substantial and held up well. Would get 5 stars if: 1. soda fountain instead of bottled drinks and/or BYOB; 2. table side hand cleaning - wet wipes are serviceable, a warm wash cloth would have delighted us, or a table side handwashing station for an over the top experience. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Add this local gem to your rotation.

Service was solid throughout. We started with mocktails, which were well made, along with breadsticks and calamari -- both excellent. The clam chowder was also very good. My wife had the salmon and it came out amazing. I went with the fried walleye and potato wedges -- the wedges were great, but the fish itself got a bit soggy underneath, more baked-texture than crispy-fried. I don't doubt it was fried, it just didn't have the crispness you want from fresh fried fish. Honestly, I think fried fish might be better left to the Wisconsin supper clubs. That said, one so-so dish isn't enough to sour the visit -- everything else we had was great, and I'm sure there are plenty of other dishes here they've mastered. We'll definitely be back, just won't order the walleye again.

The chicken shishkabob I ordered was seasoned well, the vegetables were grilled nicely, and the baked potato was fine. That said, the portion-to-price ratio on this particular dish was really hard to swallow. For $25, I expected a much more substantial plate. One skewer with literally four pieces of chicken and a potato on it is pretty ridiculous at that price point. Typically, shishkabobs are served in pairs to begin with, so four cubes of chicken on a stick for $25 is excessive. And that was on "Special". The food was good, but the value just wasn't there. I'll still come back because the place has a nice feel; the staff are friendky, and the meal wasn't bad by any means, but I'd definitely order something else the next time unless the portion size on the shishkabob is adjusted.

My wife ordered a cheeseburger that wound up being a little bit undercooked. My daughter ordered a Southwest salad that was missing black beans and avocado. When we asked the waitress to inquire with the chef if that was normal, she came back and said yes. The Southwest wound up being salad, pita bread with a slice of some sort of cheese stuffed in it, pico in the salad and two tomato slices. Epic fail. The menu was fairly diverse but only had two seafood options. Fried pollock and fried shrimp. No fish tacos. No shrimp tacos. This place really does have a special location but needs some freshening up. The deck could use a power wash. The hand rail going up to the deck was broken at the top. I saw more than a few senior have an issue with it. Lots of potential to go to the next level here if the owner(s) are willing to take the initiative.

Great neighborhood restaurant & hidden gem!…read more I'll preface this review with a small disclaimer and apology of sorts. I'm a nearly life long resident of Gurnee (36 of my years) and have only been here twice now, and both in the last month. Just recently took my parents because my first visit went so well. They have lived and worked in Gurnee since the early 80s and somehow have never been either, until now. How did I even end up here after all these years? I kept seeing mentions on social media. It was giving WI supper club kinda vibes of which I'm a HUGE fan of and I was like well I need to check this out! It's also like a 3 min drive from my home so win win. First time I went with my friend during the week, great experience everything was great! My parents aren't easy to please but I was confident and brought them on over this Saturday and another home run. We ordered the mozzarella appetizer and also the breaded shrimp appetizer, both were good. Entrees included a burger, shish kabob, prime rib sandwich, and the 18 oz prime rib. Everything was fabulous. The prime rib is perfect, red skin mashed are amazing. Beverages were a little bit of everything, mom loves black coffee but she will do cream and sugar if it's not great, they brought a large mug and she loved it, didn't even need the cream and sugar. The others got fountain drinks (Coke products which are preferred) and free refills which kept coming and was appreciated. I had a Maker's old fashioned, it was classic WI supper club style. I'll now devote an entire paragraph to the wine pours. First visit, I had a glass of the Robert Mondavi Pinot Noir, and was shocked at the pour, very very decent! Ordered the same at my second visit and maybe slightly less shocked but still, great pour! Granted this isn't the Courtyard by Marriott Westbury NY (if you are on TikTok you know what I mean), but this is a hearty pour and basically just all sorts of fabulous. You cannot go wrong with a glass of wine here! Dessert tray comes out after dinner, nice selection to choose from, both times we got a turtle cheesecake which can really do no wrong. Mom got the Dubai style cake, and the guys got vanilla ice cream. They don't make the desserts in house but they are solid options, very very good. Some environmental notes: they have the grill inside for steaks etc, so you do leave smelling a bit like the grill, not off putting to myself much, and I'm very sensitive and have allergies etc. Restrooms were spotless both times, super clean. I don't recall any music but nice conversations hum going on during the busy Saturday night service so had a pleasant volume etc. The building is older, but everything is in really nice shape/condition. You can come casual in jeans and a hoody or a bit more dressed up and feel comfortable either way. I noticed lots of local folks who recognized others in passing and stopped to say hi to each other, really gave it a nice community feel. Long story short, a nice hidden gem local place with a WI supper club feel and a nice sense of community. Solid menu and nicely executed dishes and drinks. Nice service and competitive pricing as well. Highly recommend if you live in town and never tried it, but visitors to Gurnee will feel welcome too!

I noticed they did this as other customers came in as well. We sat at the bar and had wonderful service the whole time. Very attentive, personable, fun and kind. We ordered our food and a drink & it was ready in no time. We went with the empanadas (a must order in my opinion). They are crispy and flaky, the dipping sauce with it is so flavorful, the best combo! I crave them more than I'd like to admit lol. Our drink was a rum punch and it was potent indeed but definitely nice flavors throughout. For our meal we got the jerk chicken bowl & veggie Rasta pasta. That Rasta pasta was so creamy and cheesy but also with a kick - so good! Next time I'll ask for extra veggies and I'll love it even more. The jerk chicken bowl we enjoyed as well, I loved the mango pieces throughout. The prices were great too & they have specials during the week. Tons of events going on here, lots of fun energy. Wonderful food & service. I truly appreciated how welcoming & kind the staff was. Can't recommend enough! I will be back!

This was surprising, because they had few tables occupied. We then continued with our favorite beet salad, which was good. We ordered two dinners, the lamb chops and skirt steak; both were lukewarm warm. The skirt steak tasted boiled and had a broken sauce; a vast difference from prior visits. Our meals came with soup or salad, however this time they said the french onion was not gluten free, so I ended up with the weird combination of butternut squash mushroom soup that just tasted like cream. To make matters worse, our side of brussels sprouts were doused in mustard, very different from the picture online. Our meals overall, despite them NOT being busy, did not taste fresh and lacked flavor. Total for 2 drinks, the beet salad, two entries, and one side was $224 and change. With an argument with the waiter/chef/manager at another table (awkward) and our terrible food, we will not be back. 2 stars because it was so good these last few visits. Hopefully they get themselves together and save their business.
