I have never written a review before. Please do not go to Dr.Ashley Brissette who has left Weill Cornell . She is now at this practice. I went to Dr. Brisette when she was at Weill for catarcat surgery. My right eye was operated on and was fine. I was looking forward to having my left eye done. The operation was not successful . I had very bad blurred vision. When I went back I was told by Dr. Brissette there was nothing that could be done . In other words I would have to live with it. After 2 operations I now have clear vision back in my left eye. I was very fortunate that I found a very well respected surgeon who was able to help me. If you are like I was two months ago- anxiously poring over every corner of the internet trying to decide where to have vision correction surgery- let me make it easy for you: This is the place to go. Choosing Kelly Vision for my ICL surgery is one of the best decisions I have ever made. With a -10 prescription since I was a kid, and no tolerance for contact lenses anymore due to dry eye, vision correction surgery is something I had long dreamed about but didn't think was possible for me. After learning about ICL from my ophthalmologist, I initially visited a different practice, had a consultation and a pre-op appointment (including a down payment), but ended up backing out due to an unsettling feeling I got from the team there; a sort of chaotic, transactional energy that didn't feel right coming from people who would be operating on my eyes. I found Kelly Vision by googling "best ICL surgeon in New York." (I owe you a beer, Google.) After my initial consultation with Dr. Kelly and Dr. Cortez, I immediately called my friend and said "12 out of 10. This is the place." I just knew right away. Everyone at Kelly Vision, from the front desk, to the wonderful technician Yari, to the deeply kind Dr. Cortez who fine-tuned my prescription and patiently answered all my questions, to the phenomenal Dr. Kelly who put me at ease throughout the process and ultimately performed my ICL surgery, far exceeded what I ever could have hoped for. When you are making decisions about something as serious and potentially scary as eye surgery, feelings of kindness and humanity, in addition to trust and expertise, are big, flashing green lights. this practice only cares about money. the care for people is non existent. I am a cancer patient and was referred to this office by MSK for a cataract issue. they would not see without me paying a $450.00 out of network deductible that was never clearly affirmed prior to my appointment. I arrived after paying a $70.00 Uber fee to discover, they would not see me without my paying $450.00. Needless to say, after the surgery and testing they would have captured well more than $450.00 from me. this is a heartless practice. No discussion of arrangements or other options. No suggestions of any kind. What does that say about this practice? I came from a different state to get treatment for cancer and they refused to even care. the need a heart!! I read your response and LAUGHED! Your length of time in business does not equate to care. I came for a consultation. I came with test results. Your staff stated that you would not get paid until the deductible was met. they said that this was to cover the cost of testing and the consultation. they offered no options. You do not CARE! I had Contoura LASIK done by Dr. James Kelly in April 2025--and I truly wish I had done it years ago. After putting off the decision for a long time, I finally committed to making it happen this year, and I'm so glad I chose Dr. Kelly and his team. I've needed glasses since I was young but didn't wear them regularly until my teenage years. In 2023, I finally tried contact lenses, but the experience was awful--constant dryness, fogging, discomfort, and nothing ever felt right. I initially considered SMILE, but after a very thorough eye exam, I was told it wasn't the best option for me--unlike other places that rushed to say yes without properly assessing my eyes. During the consultation in Manhattan location, the staff took their time walking me through everything. I was even introduced to Dr. Kelly beforehand and got to observe him performing LASIK on another patient through a large viewing window. That personal, transparent approach made me feel much more at ease. The process--from consultation to payment to scheduling--was smooth, clear, and never pressured. Other places felt more like sales pitches and lacked customer service. Dr. Kelly's office was the complete opposite: warm, professional, and efficient, with minimal waiting time. On the day of the procedure, I was definitely nervous (the Valium didn't do much for me) but Dr. Kelly was gentle, calm, and precise. Before I knew it, I was resting in the recovery room. After leaving the office, while riding home with a friend, I could already read license plates on the cars! The hardest part was about an hour after--my eyes felt extremely dry and gritty, so I kept them closed while I quickly ate and went straight to sleep. The key to healing was using the prescribed medicated drops as instructed in addition to preservative-free lubricating drops regularly. I also made a real effort not to rub my eyes at all for the first 48 hours, I also didn't rub them the way I normally would for weeks. During the first month, looking at a bright computer screen there would be some halos and glares which eventually lessen as my eyes healed. Blue filter glasses helped eye fatigue as well. Now, almost three months later, everything is crisp and clear. I've rarely experienced dry eyes so no need to use lubricating drops often. After my second follow-up, Dr. Kelly was just as kind, patient, and professional as he was on day one. I'm beyond grateful to him and the entire team for such a smooth and life-changing experience to enjoy the freedom of not relying on glasses or contacts. Highly recommend! read more

Best decision of my life! I've been putting off Lasik for a while, but decided to go ahead and just schedule a consultation appointment at Kelly Vision Center through a referral. During the consultation, the staff was incredibly kind & patient (which is a plus, given how stressful this whole process can be). We did a bunch of tests to evaluate whether or not I'm a good candidate. Then you meet with the doctors to understand exactly which procedure is best for you. This was hands down one of the most pleasant doctor's office visit I've ever had. I loved how welcoming the entire staff was. You also meet with the financing team on the consultation, so you know exactly what you're getting yourself into. You can do either a monthly payment plan (and if you pay within 2 years, there's no interest) or just pay the full amount. On the day of the surgery, the team prepares you well. Dr. Kelly guides you through the entire process. It was terrifying, but it helps to know that everyone else around you is prepared and calm. The recovery was quick and you head back in the next day to make sure everything is doing okay. I'm loving my 20/15 vision (which was WAY better than what I could see with contacts) and I'm so happy I did this. read more

DO NOT USE KELLY VISION!!! I have had many eye surgeries in many surgical facilities. I have never experienced anything like the incompetence and lack of interest in patients' eye health that Kelly Vision routinely displays. They will not verify insurance, change your surgery date without warning, refuse to provide standard day-after-surgery post-op care., and ensure that your surgeon's surgical plan for you cannot be implemented...risking your vision. They will charge you for thousands of dollars of medically inadvisable out of pocket costs. If you have any out of hours post-surgical emergency, there is no way for an ER Resident to contact your surgeon (because they have no out of hours service, and no one covers their practice outside of M-F business hours), and cannot access your medical records (because they are not part of MyChart, and it takes them one month to provide your records to another doctor). So you will head to the local ER and see a newbie Resident who will not be able to provide you with the care you need and deserve, because Kelly Vision has, by design, made it impossible for that Resident to get the information they need to save your vision! This is a Chop Shop, Factory Surgery for Profit medical practice. Do not trust your vision to them! You only get two eyes! As re Dr.Kelly''s comments: He should get his facts straight. The majority of my reviews are glowing. After a 60 year ophthalmological history, I was diagnosed w cataract in May 2024. I saw Dr.Brissette (who handles complex cataract cases, like mine) between July 2024 & December 2024 at Weill Cornell before she moved to Kelly Vision. Her July surgical plan required a second specialist, which I arranged over several months. My final post-op visit was at Kelly Vision. In early December, based on Dr.Brissette's staff's representations, I changed insurance coverage to a plan she would accept at Kelly Vision. (In February 2025, Dr.Brissette confirmed directly that she and the Kelly Vision staff never formalized that insurance coverage.) Between December 2024 and February 2025.I had extensive communications with Dr.Kelly's practice manager, Ms.Jessebel Negron. In mid December 2024,I learned that Dr. Brissette was leaving Weill Cornell. I scheduled her first available surgical date at Kelly Vision for February 11, 2025 through Ms Negron, two months in advance, and scheduled the second specialist, per her surgical plan. Ms Negron verified my new insurance would be accepted. Since I am monocular, a friend booked flights to assist me post-op. Between December 2024 and February 2025, I confirmed the surgery date and next-day follow up visit with Dr.Brissette, as well as the insurance coverage, several times with Ms.Negron. At the last pre-op visit with Dr.Brissette, on Feb. 3, I first learned that, in case of an out of hours post-surgical emergency, I should go to the NY Eye and Ear Emergency Room and see whatever new Resident was on call. Dr.Brissette made it clear that she and the other surgeons at Kelly Vision provide no our of hours service necessary post-surgical care. A few hours after that final pre-op visit on February 3, Ms.Negron informed me that Dr.Brissette did not accept the insurance she had previously confirmed. Over the next 8 hours, I received contradictory messages from Dr.Kelly's staff. Rescheduling the surgery without notice, (scuttling the second specialist's post-op care & my friend's flights), informing me that Dr. Brissette would not provide day-after surgery follow-up(saying I would be seen by Dr.Kelly, who does not specialize in complex cataract surgery & had never once examined my eyes), then telling me that neither Dr.Kelly nor Dr.Brissette would be in the office to provide day-after surgery post-op care. At that point, I asked for Dr.Brissette's direct email and phone service number so that I could speak with her directly. Ms.Negron made it very clear that patients cannot directly contact their Kelly Vision surgeons at any time. She made it clear they provide no out of hours coverage, and that Kelly Vision requires one full month to provide records to other physicians. Thus, any patient who has to go to the ER for a post-surgical emergency will be seen by a Resident who has no way of reaching their Kelly Vision surgeon, and no way to rapidly obtain their surgical records. Ms.Negron and her colleagues made it quite clear, in multiple conversations on February 3, that Dr.Brissette did not plan to be in the office to see her post-surgical patients the day after surgery. Dr, Brissette later confirmed this directly. Since 1966, I have had many eye surgeries. I have been lucky to have received care from some of the most outstanding opththalmological surgeons in the country. I stand by my above comments, which are the result of many communications with Dr.Kelly's staff. If you value your vision, do not seek care at Kelly Vision. You only get two eyes. read more

Couldn't be happier. From the office staff to the eye surgery/care that I received, things couldn't have been better. Starting with my consultation, the staff was helpful and answered all my questions, and if they didn't know the answer, they found out and got back to me promptly. Dr. Kelly has a great "bedside manner", makes you feel comfortable and at ease. I had cataract surgery and I'm on the young end to have this done (mid 50s) and now I'm upset I didn't' have it done sooner! I did upgrade to multifocal lenses (an additional cost) over monovision, and now I'll be glasses free for the rest of my life with 20/20 vision. read more

I got lasik done at this location and no regrets! It's been about 11 months since my procedure. Dr.Kelly was so kind and knew how to make me feel comfortable.. the procedure was quick- less than five minutes! There was also a lady who held my hand which was so nice because I was so scared! I'm writing this on June 27, and had LASIK surgery on the afternoon of May 30th. By the morning of May 31st, I was back at work. Take that for what you will, it wasn't my first choice of destinations but I figure for some of you, knowing you can be back at work (and see well enough the next day to drive to work) is like, a plus or something. Fast forward to yesterday, and my eyesight had actually improved to 20/15. Dr. Kelly and his team are truly a well-oiled machine, with each member playing their role perfectly. They take what can be a very stressful event and make sure you are well-informed and comfortable. Each person I met was so welcoming and kind, and continued to be for each follow-up visit. I was close to losing my ability to even wear contacts because I'd worn them too long, for too often, leading to cysts in both eyes. I was warned I couldn't get another prescription if I kept doing things the way I was. I finally did some searching and landed on Dr. Kelly's practice after lots--and I mean lots--of research and comparisons between different practices, patient reviews and pricing. I'm not sure what to say other than look back at my own reaction when Dr. Kelly asked me why I hadn't done this sooner. I realize now that I simply hadn't prioritized things correctly. I could've had Lasik much earlier in my life and prevented all the issues I have with contacts in the first place. I recommend everyone wearing glasses or contacts to really think about their choices. I have to give equal thinks to his associates. Unfortunately, I can't recall the name of the amazing doctor who was there every step of the way, supporting me and doing all my repeat consultations to make sure everything was going perfectly. I tried to look him up on the Kelly Vision Center website but he's not listed. I want to think his name was Dr. Costa or Acosta but I can't recall precisely since it's been years since I had the surgery. Of course, everything went far beyond my expectations. I wrote this email to Kelly's office, followed up once, and have yet to receive a response. Awful experience all around. Avoid at all costs! I visited your practice on 56th St. on August 15th for an eye exam. After a few tests with your technician, I was escorted to a room to see your optometrist, Dr. Ramsarat. After approximately 10 minutes, I was informed that Dr. Ramsarat had left the office for lunch and that I would have to wait 45 minutes for her to return. This was the beginning of my strange experience at your practice. About 45 minutes later, Dr. Ramsarat entered the room and gave me an eye exam. Dr. Ramsarat wrote me the attached prescription. I brought this prescription to Moscot and ordered two pairs of glasses. I picked the glasses up on Tuesday and immediately knew the prescription was wrong. I visited a different optometrist today who examined my eyes again and confirmed that Dr. Ramsarat wrote me a drastically incorrect prescription. I am very disappointed, to say the least. I paid your practice several hundred dollars in cash for my visit and $60 to Moscot to redo the glasses lenses and other associated costs such as the second eye exam, travel, and time expenses. read more

I had LASIK surgery performed by Dr. Kelly and I'm thrilled with the results. I had a decent amount of astigmatism and nearsightedness which put me somewhere between 20/80 and 20/100 vision beforehand. It's one day after my surgery I am seeing 20/15 Vision! I've never been able to see detail like this before, both near and far. Not with contacts or glasses over 20 years. Looking around New York City today was truly amazing. I can see the floor-by-floor details of the tops buildings a half mile away. Im ecstatic. In terms of the experience, all of the staff were professional and warm, and Dr. Kelly showed deep expertise in what he does. I felt like I was with someone who really knows what he's doing. When it comes to your eyes, that's an important thing... I started with a consultation appointment, then came back for the procedure. They had me come in for a follow up visit the morning after, in which they confirmed everything looks good and tested my vision again. The procedure itself took about 10 minutes from start to finish, and the laser correction part is over in... the blink of an eye. I have always been nervous about getting Lasik, but I have received several recommendations for Kelly Vision Center. BEST DECISION I MADE! I finally had the will to schedule the consultation and met with some of the staff and Dr. Kelly himself. Everyone was extremely friendly and made you feel at ease. They did several eye exams to see if I would be a Lasik candidate. They then explain the entire process and how to prepare for the surgery beforehand. The final step was to meet with the financial advisor who explains what/how the payment can be made along with the prescriptions that will be sent to your pharmacy. During the day of the procedure, the staff was well prepared, and every step of the process went seamlessly. They calmed my nerves by talking me through the process again. I spent about 15 minutes total in the procedure room as Dr. Kelly worked with great skill and precision. I felt absolutely no pain or discomfort. They advise you to go home immediately and keep your hours closed, as you may feel a slight burning/tingling sensation. Once I awoke, the results were remarkable and nothing short of transformative. I have been wearing glasses for almost 20 years and I don't remember what it is like without glasses. However, there are many inconvenience especially given that I am extremely active and forgetful and have a tendency to forget my glasses. Also, contact lens make my eyes extremely dry after a while. I had a great experience with LASIK surgery at Kelly Vision Center! From the initial consultation to the day-of-surgery, all of the staff members I came across were friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable. One differentiating factor for consultations here is that you actually meet Dr. Kelly at the initial consultation and have a chance to talk with him about the procedure and ask any questions you have. I thought this was a nice touch given that most other LASIK places, you wouldn't meet the surgeon until the day of surgery. I was super nervous going into surgery but the actual procedure took less than 10 minutes and was painless for the most part besides some pressure on your eyes when they create the flap. During surgery, they walk you through each step so you know exactly what's going on. After the surgery, the first hours are a little rough to be honest (stinging and tearing the first day; feels like something is in your eyes) but after 24 hours, I felt great again and could see better than 20/20 at my follow up appointment. While I had a stellar experience with my procedure, I'll add two minor things that could be improved with office operations: 1) the prescription eye drops were not sent to my pharmacy as promised and I had to call a few times to check on this and 2) it's common to have a red spot appear on the white part of your eye following the procedure, which I was not warned about. It went away on its own in about a week but it would've saved a lot of worry and panic if I was warned about this in advance. I had a great eye surgery (SMILE and PRK) experience with Dr. Kelly and his team. I'm very happy with the results, as my original prescription was ~-8. 4 months in, I needed a touch-up on my right eye, which was covered by the initial price. WHAT'S INCLUDED: SURGERY: The SMILE surgery itself is also a quick affair, and the actual procedure was 15 minutes, with another 15-20 minutes of prep and post-op. Dr. Kelly does the final checks and the surgery himself and talks you through the entire procedure. He's extremely experienced, and he mentioned that he's done over 30,000+ corrective eye surgeries. He is very calm and has great bedside manner. The room is very quiet, but there are more people than you expect in the operating room. RECOVERY: SMILE was sold as 24 hour recovery time, and if you were forced to use your eyes, 24 hours is fine. However, true recovery to see perfectly took more like 3-4 days for me, and the prescription eye drops are recommended for 7 days. It's uncomfortable for the first 24 hours, but there's barely any discomfort after that. TOUCH-UP: After 4 months, my right eye vision needed a slight touch-up. The downside of SMILE is that the touch-up needs to be LASIK or PRK. TOUCH-UP SURGERY: Dr. Kelly performed the final checks and did the surgery. It was super quick, but PRK feels different than the SMILE surgery. TOUCH-UP RECOVERY: PRK took a bit longer than SMILE to recover from. SIDE EFFECTS: I didn't get any dryness or night glare issues from SMILE. However, my right eye is significantly dryer than PRK, after 6 months. TEAM: The team is very efficient and a well-run machine. Dr. Kelly is a busy man, so most of my time with him was ~5 minutes for consultations and check-ups, other than the surgeries. The rest of the team is knowledgeable and kind. During my initial surgery, I was in between insurance, and though the surgery is out-of-pocket, there are other charges billed to insurance that the team was able to accomodate my situation for. PRICING: Corrective eye surgery is not a place to be frugal. Though it's expensive, it is worth the money and the office offered financing that was 0% APR for 18 months. The center runs promos on Groupon and on their own website, so make sure you compare the best offers as the patient coordinators provides different quotes. They also have student discounts! The one slight comment is that the patient coordinator was reluctant to give me the better promo on the website after I mentioned I was going to buy the Groupon promo. Because I had phone connectivity issues, the Groupon purchase hadn't gone through, and then the patient coordinator matched the website promo. They did ask me what I did before providing the quote, so I'm sure there's some type of fee structure for higher prices for the patient coordinators. But again, corrective eye surgery is not a place to be frugal. Overall, I would recommend Kelly Laser Vision to my friends and family for eye surgery. read more

My prescription was -5.5 for over 20 years, and by the morning after my LASIK procedure, I had 20/20 vision. The procedure took under 10 minutes and was completely painless. Mild discomfort is normal for the first few hours afterward, but I took their advice and went right to sleep, so I barely experienced any. My procedure was around 5PM and I was back at work the next day. By the end of the first week all dryness was gone, and a month later my vision has even further improved to 20/15.
