I was referred to this place by an optometrist in Chelsea, when I told them that the problem isn't my vision. It's pressure and eye puffs. When I made the appointment they ask you what the appointment is for and I again said it's the pressure and eye puffs. They take my insurance and when I got there, they proceeded to put me through numerous tests before I even got to see the doctor. These were vision tests!!! When i saw the doctor, she told me my vision was fine. I know that. And then referred me to another doctor saying they could help me with my eye issue, that I came to her for! I could have skipped her tests, that just left me with a bill. I think this place is catering to insurance and not really the patient. I wouldn't suggest going here if you are a minority. I felt like I was just put through the works, and I still am searching for a doctor that can actually help. And, The referral they gave me was more of the same. He wanted to do in the room surgery, and not address my real issue. The pressure!! It was very frustrating. TL;DR: This practice misled me, wasted my time, treated me with cruelty and contempt, and tried to intimidate me into blindly agreeing to unknown procedures without explanation or consent. I have never in my life felt the urge to write a negative review until now. But the way this office treated me left me no choice but to speak up and warn other patients. Looking back, I noticed there were already multiple 1-star reviews on google warning about this office's greedy, ungraceful, and unethical practices -- I wish I had taken them more seriously. Unfortunately, my experience proved those warnings to be 100% true. I scheduled this appointment with Dr. Keshet a month in advance, making it clear I only wanted a second opinion using my existing records. The staff reassured me this was fine and that I could discuss any tests with the doctor first. After traveling nearly 2 hours to get there, they completely reversed their word -- suddenly insisting I undergo their set of exams. But the real issue was the hostile behavior of their front desk staff, Vanessa. When I calmly asked for the procedure codes to confirm out of pocket cost with my insurance -- as any financially responsible patient would -- she turned aggressive, raising her voice in front of the entire waiting room. She kept snapping that she "can not be sure" what exams I'd be getting, which is a nonsensical response for a medical professional expected to handle billing and patient care. When I explained again that I simply wanted to understand potential costs before being pressured into exams, she escalated even further -- raising her voice at me to "take the exam or you need to leave right now" and "we will cancel this appt and you can check with your insurance on your own time" in a condescending tone, as if asking for cost clarity and informed consent was some kind of offense. Because of this, I was never seen by Dr. Keshet, meaning an entire month of waiting, a 2-hour commute, and my chance to get treatment completely denied. I left untreated, disrespected, and disgusted. Vanessa violated my basic rights as a patient -- the right to informed consent, cost transparency, professionalism, and dignity. When I asked to speak to her supervisor, she was very proud to declare, "I am the supervisor," and immediately ordered me out. As a former patient of this practice (I hesitate to say I was a patient of Dr Keshet since she rarely saw me, usually I was shuttered from one assistant to another) I will tell you that all the negative reviews here are true. The rudest front desk person ever in Vanessa, who has no business dealing with people. Lots of unnecessary tests, which I now have confirmed with my current ophthalmologist. I get the feeling that they do this to increase insurance payments. Long waits in between the tests (last time I was there almost 2 hours) and a complete lack of any sense of caring about the patient. I would urge you to stay away from this Eyeball Factory. Dr Keshet did my surgery and I've been pretty happy with the results. However, follow up has been challenging, involving very long wait times. There is absolutely no consideration for the patient's time. More and more diagnostic tests which of course means more dollars but even more annoying, no one ever says "do you have time for this unplanned procedure" or "we are running behind by 45 minutes" or anything remotely considerate of my time. My experience with Dr. Keshet's office was very disappointing and unprofessional. As I need Cataract surgery on both eyes it was too stressful and I had to find another surgeon. My first visit involved a long wait, and though I emailed the intake forms to the office a week prior, they "could not find them" so I had to spend another 30 minutes filling up these forms again. The examination area is a tight hallway which felt like a crowded train station where I had to hop from one apparatus to another, crossing paths with other patients like musical chairs. When I finally saw Dr. Keshet, she spent 10 minutes with me and then rushed me out. They have scheduled my surgery in a facility in the Bronx, but could not give me any clear information about the procedure or the lenses I chose. When I asked for the costs, the office manager scribbled $2900 on the back of her business cards. I tried to get information from the Bronx facility as well but they sent me back to Dr. Keshet's office. Apparently my information was faxed to the facility, but when I called them back they haven't received it - even a day before my scheduled surgery. The office manager called me 2 days prior to the scheduled surgery, in order to charge my on-file credit card $2900 for the special lens that will be inserted in my eye, but said they do not provide any literature for that. The whole experience was stressful and made me reluctant to trust this office with my eyes. When I called and spoke to the manager and voiced my concerns, she doubled down and took no responsibility. Luckily I found another surgeon and it was like night and day. The new surgeon spent 45 minutes with me, discussing all my options and explaining every stage of the procedure. They provided me with ample written information about my upcoming surgery - date and time, costs, etc. - even had printed brochures for the different lenses. Imagine that! Did a great job on my eye surgery. Dr Keshet is a talented surgeon and I'm so glad I no longer need glasses, but be prepared for some things with the front office staff: - I have never been seen immediately. Wait time ranges from 15 minutes to 90 minutes - I had to stay on top of them for scheduling and Rx refills. There were several last minute changes for the actual surgery I'd also recommend checking with the practice and your insurance to get an accurate gauge of costs for before and after the surgery. I had frequent pre and post-op appointments, prescription co-pays and ductal plugs that ultimately cost about half of the surgery price. read more

There is a concerning lack of information and communication offered by Dr Keshet. Although she is a skilled Dr and has for the most part an excellent and caring staff, especially Vanessa, I was totally on my own to research for information. I first met her in Jan of 2023 for a consultation for cataract surgery that turned out to be extremely brief and totally lacking in any disclosure. I asked for an extended depth of focus IOL and was only told that a would probably see halos. I was scheduled for surgery and handed two brochures for the Symfony IOL to read which was pretty much the extent of my visit. I decided to go with the surgery as it was much needed and had been delayed due to the Covid shutdown. I have since had multiple appointments with Dr Keshet to deal with ongoing issues from the surgery and other eye problems. I will eventually need cataract surgery on my other eye, and it seemed having the same Dr for both eyes would be wise. My most recent visit with Dr Keshet was for the 6 month replacement of the plugs for my tear duct that she had suggested for dry eye. Her office was not at all busy that day which was unusual. I went through the usual prep procedures and was then told Dr Keshet was with another patient and a different staff member would see me. I did not receive the tear duct plugs, which was the whole reason for the appointment, nor did I get to ask some questions I had about my future cataract surgery. When I was leaving Dr Keshet and a lot of her staff were at the front desk and obviously not busy. I found it extremely upsetting and insulting that she had not bother to see me for my scheduled appointment nor did she even acknowledge my presence even as I was right in front of her. I have been her patient for a year and a half, and I actually find it quit shocking that a Dr can show such a lack of regard for a patient. How can one feel confident in someone to operate on their eye with this kind of treatment?!! read more

My first visit to this facility was this week. I waited over an hour to be seen. I was called by a female employee that did not identify herself by name or title. I advised her that I was there to see Dr. Keshet and she informed me that she would "prepare" me for the doctor. After she left the room I waited another 20 minutes or so for Dr. Keshet to arrive. I did not know that this particular employee was an optometrist until after I looked at the staff on the website. I thought it was rude that the staff don't think enough of patients to introduce themselves during a visit. Dr. Keshet seemed to be in a rush. During the visit I had punctal plugs inserted for dry eye syndrome. I did not know that this was a surgical procedure until after I left the office and advised a friend of mine that I had it done. Dr Keshet was in the room with me for all of 7 minutes, if that, and rushed out to see the next patient. For a surgical procedure to be done that would require the physician to educate the patient regarding risks and complications that may occur, what to expect, and what to do in the days following the procedure. That did not occur and I feel quite stupid at this point because one of my eyes is now bothering me, turning red where the plug lays against the eye. I will be going to see another opthalmologist to address this because I don't trust Dr. Keshet at this point. I usually do ask questions but I didn't know what questions to ask in this situation because I had never heard of the procedure. I guess I trusted the physician to do her job safely, ethically, and using best practices. However, forgoing educating a patient and obtaining informed consent is quite slimy. read more

RUN MULTIPLE TESTS JUST TO BILL YOU!!! I was here for a routine eye infection, and on my follow up visit two weeks later, they asked me if I wanted to take some test to make sure my eyes weren't "glaucomic." I assumed my insurance would cover it, and it barely did. Got hit with a bill for HUNDREDS of dollars just a few weeks after. They simply pushed procedures and tests without even asking me if my insurance covers it. Very deceptive business practice. Have the decency to check if your patient can actually afford these tests. Your business perpetuates why this whole system is rigged for the little guys! read more

When I read William T's review in the filtered section I thought perhaps he was exaggerating so I called them up and inquired. Glad I did. They're Shysters. Stay away. Even the Scumbags at Cohen's don't try to Finagle like this. At least they only screw you after your exam that is $99. You've been warned. Get your eye exam at Cohen's or go to Chinatown. Just one week ago, I did PRK (the safer alternative to LASIK). I am so happy to be glasses free. After years of using contact lenses, I had become contact lens intolerant. Dr. Keshet did a phenomenal job and is a highly skilled doctor and surgeon. The surgery does require a bit of downtime (I had the surgery Friday but by Monday, I was good to go) but is most certainly worth it. Dr. Keshet also has the most phenomenal office staff. From the front desk to the technicians to the billers, they are all so wonderful and caring! I recently started a new job & with that came vision coverage. I have been having some eye concerns & thought I was at the age where I probably just need some readers. I have never had any issue with my eyes so I was really surprised to hear that in addition to needing reading glasses that i also have narrow angle glaucoma. I needed Laser peripheral Iridotomy (LPI). The LPI makes small hole in the iris, allowing it to fall back from the fluid channel allowing the fluid drain & relieving the pressure around the eye. Sounds terrifying to me! So going into my procedure I was a total squirming coward. In 10 mins i was expected to resist thousands of years of evolution & expose my eyes to stinging drops, contacts that don't allow me to blink & a laser in my eyeball. Yipes!!!! But Dr. Keshet never lost an ounce of patience with me. She never made me feel that I was annoying her, which I likely, unintentionally, was. She was calm, patient & lovely. So was her entire staff. Not only did they also extend compassion & patience but they called CVS multiple times when the pharmacist told me they were out of the drops I needed. The issue was resolved by EOD. If you ever need an ophthalmologist, this is the one. You will be in excellent hands. read more

I saw Dr. Keshet for an emergency situation I encountered while in Manhattan. She was amazing. She worked me into her schedule and explained to me in detail everything she was seeing and doing. As an architect, I was very concerned about my injury and whether my vision would fully recover. She walked me through what I could expect over the next few days after my visit, and called to check in on me later that week. I am very upset with the billing practices of this doctor, which I consider to be very misleading. I called about scheduling a general eye exam and was informed that my insurance would pick up the entire tab, with the exception of a new eyeglass prescription, which would cost $50. As it turns out, the cost of the exam was a staggering $750, $550 of which was denied by the insurance company, leaving a balance to me of $200. So the "free" exam ended up costing $200, not to mention the $50 for the prescription. I asked a simple question and was given a simple answer. But the simple answer was wrong.
