But go ahead, ask your question." As if I was offending him by having concerns. As if by asking questions I was somehow challenging his expertise, rather than acknowledging it. As if this wasn't exactly the right time and place to ask questions. A bit shocked by his dismissive comment, i initially thought I should simply leave and find a different doctor. Then I thought about the weeks I had to wait just to get this appointment, and starting that process all over again, and I swallowed my pride and simply responded, "No, never-mind." But I also knew then that I would eventually write a review in which I told prospective patients this story, in case anyone preferred not to be disregarded in this way. To be fair, I am pleased with the results of my surgery. I had researched Dr Patel and never doubted his skills. But I was offended by his manner at that initial consult and believe that patients deserve to be treated better.

I was a bit apprehensive about getting surgery but when you're married to a bat, one of you has to bite the bullet and watch the green light or it'll be the blind leading the blind. Unfortunately, my bat is far sighted so I don't think surgery would have helped. Either way, I saw my regular eye doctor recently and I'm seeing 20/20 out of my left eye and slightly worse from my right eye. And I'm okay with that. When I got the surgery, I got a slew of paperwork and meds to take. The first day was just sleepy. I think it was the pills. The second day was a little annoying. By the evening, it was really annoying with any kind of light (if you get this surgery, I highly suggest you plan a vacation around it to go camping. I stayed in our travel trailer in dim light) and we went to Walmart to pick up those dark orange safety glasses. Much more bearable. By day five, I felt fine but driving in the morning when people were using headlights, then when the sun came out, it was just mildly irritating. Now, no pain, no issues, just straight vision. If you're thinking about this surgery and you're a candidate, DOOOO ITTTT! I can now find things my bat "says" he lost but is really just on the kitchen counter. Bonus points, they have Alexa in the patient rooms so when I was bored I got a bed time story, soft music, and Alexa to keep me occupied instead of looking in the drawers and playing with the tools like I do at my normal doctor's offices.

Unfortunately, I'm not satisfied with the results. While I can use readers for close-up vision, I still struggle to see clearly in the distance. It's frustrating that I have trouble seeing while driving on the highway and can't even read aisle signs. There seems to be no happy medium--I'll need to get glasses after all, even though I was initially told that I'd only need readers. I can't undue to his procedure or get 10k back. Type of care, quality of care and office experience was very good and all staff were warm and made me feel comfortable.

Called back for my appointment on time and the initial eye tests were done by an assistant to get my file updated and ready for the doctor. Assistant explained everything clearly as we proceeded and then left me in a room to wait for the doctor. Within minutes Dr. Maryam Ali came in and did my exam. She is very professional and personable. She answered my questions and I never felt rushed. In the end she was honest and told me that my eyes have not changed enough since my last check up to require a new prescription or new frames...unless I wanted them. I enjoyed my years with Dr. Burrows, but I am looking forward to my future appointments with Dr. Ali.

The initial examining Dr. was the person who was lacking in any skill communicating with any empathy or respect. It was that same Dr. who i saw about a chalazion who sent me to a plastic surgeon to do a routine treatment for it. Just did not want to deal with it.... the opthamologist i saw mext, different clinic, expressed that in 20 years of practicing she had never seen someone sent to plastic surgery ( no insurance coverage for that,). Live and learn. Much better treatment at Clarius, no problem, done in a flash.

And you're not allowed to drive yourself there, so you'd also have to call your friend or family member to bring you back home, all for nothing.
